I have had these headphones for 6 months they were the greatest pair I've ever had. Until about 20 minutes ago when the right ear just stopped working. I'm very disappointed in them.

    Best.Earphones.Ever~!

I first experienced the EarPods a few months back, when I got my iPod Touch 5th Generation. After an awful experience with the original Apple earphones, I was a bit skeptical on trying the EarPods. But still, I gave them a try.

Wow.It's all I can say. It blew out all of the earphones I've got, 3 of which are from the most-popular earphone brand.

The bass is unexpectedly loud, mids and highs are balanced, and the best part? It's so comfortable, that after long periods of use, you will feel like, you're not wearing an earphone due to it's lightness!!!

Unfortunately, after a solid good 5 months of use, the EarPods that came with my iPod starts to die slowly, with the audio on the left earphone starting to fade out, I was expecting that they will die out eventually, but WOW AGAIN!, the EarPod still didn't give up! I just bent the plug a bit, and it's back to normal, still going strong as it was!!

I'm recently on the hunt for the best earphone to buy in case my EarPods pass away soon. And at the end of the day, after looking through loads and loads of earphones online, I still end up, spending on a new pair of EarPods. Yes, I openly gave up all of my earphones which has a heaping price tag of $80 and above, just for this baby. It's simple-looking, no flashy stuff or whatsoever, and it's sounds awesome.

One ear pod always seems to break.

    • Written by from Wells

I've had two pairs of these now, and both pairs have had one of the pods get damaged somehow.

I'm fairly gentle with them, and I only use them at work so it's not like I'm blaring music through them. I'm usually only at about 1/4th volume on my phone. After about a month with both pairs, one of the pods (Right one on the first pair, left one on the second pair) loses most of its sound. I have checked my sound settings on my phone, but it's not that, because they don't work properly on any device. I'm very disappointed with these.

Steve Jobs wouldn't have let this slide. RIP

    Clear sound

These earpods sound very clear. I have small ears and they fit mine comfortably without falling out. I find the case that came with them not very practical, though.

    Handset of the worst quality

    • Written by from SANTOS

Had never purchased an Apple product, however so much talk that the quality is unquestionable, superior to others, earlier this year bought an ipod 7th generation, paying a much higher than similar, MP3 or MP4 product price.
I found a really amazing device, but that did not come with controls on the headset, even considering the price.
So, I bought this headset with control and it lasted less than three months, less than 20 days of use, and have an above average care with my things especially with guys like this.
So, what I have to say is that in any way the price charged by Apple explains its quality which is surely less than the other products on the market such as Sony, Philips and other less significant.
    Apple never again.

    I Own Five

    • Written by from Mill Valley

I keep one at my desk, three in different cars, and one in my running belt. I have been waiting for the running belt one to die from sweat, but it keeps going after over 500 miles (thanks to my Runmeter app for keeping track).

Only in the last month on a few occasions has the one I used from running behaved funny (sudden volume change). It has outlasted by a wide margin exercise ear sets I have purchased from JVC, Sony and Philips.

    Positives:

    - they stay in the ear (I run trails for up to 12 miles)
    - the sound quality is fair to good for what it does
    - large volume and click button make it easy to control music, engage Siri or pause/start exercise apps

    Negatives:
    - Not available in other colors (I want dark, chocolate brown)

    Incredible — Needs Bluetooth Version

    • Written by from Euless

These are phenomenal headphones that compare very favorably to far more expensive headphones. The sound quality is crisp, clear and well balanced.

The earpieces fit very comfortably and stably in my ears and I never need to adjust them. By design, since they don’t create a tight seal within your ear, you can still hear some ambient sounds, which for exercising around the city is great for safety.

The cord is very thing and prone to tangling, but on the other hand, being so light, I tend to forget that it’s there. Other “linguini”-style cords tend to get heavy and thump on my chest, and pull down on the headphones while exercising.

The volume/playback control remote is a bit high for my taste, but I guess that’s necessary in order for the microphone to hang as close to the mouth as possible. The controls themselves are intuitive, although triple-clicking to return to the previous track often fails to register, leading to skipping to the next track instead.

For $30 (or free with an iPhone/iPod), what more can I ask for? A sub-$100 Bluetooth version, please!

    Good Sound. Poor Fit.

    • Written by from Riverside

I have owned these headphones a total of 24 hours and I've already got earaches in both ears and the beginnings of a blister in my right one.

I am a big fan of Mac technology. And with the last many pairs of the old style Mac headphones I've never been disappointed. The quality with the actual headphones has improved if anything from the old ones. I'm really impressed by the sound (I'm an amateur and I can tell the difference) and the improved input mic that diminishes background noise (a HUGE bonus since I use headphones as my hands-free device). However they are very, VERY uncomfortable to wear.

Even for all their improvements, I'm already averse to using them because they hurt. I've also noticed that they feel like they might pop out if I don't put them in exactly the right way.

I know that Apple products have a history of having to use items "just the right way" (the original iphone mic problem anyone?), but this product isn't well suited for general audiences. It's not convenient to have to constantly readjust the buds to stop your eyes from tearing up from the pain.

I've noticed that several of the reviewers who had issues with this product were women. Being also of the female gender and having smaller ears. I'm thinking that Mac didn't include women in their calculations when they made the bold claim that the new design made the EarPods "...more comfortable for more people than any other earbud-style headphone."

    It's just simply not true.

For the quality, I think these headphones are great for $30. That being said, I'd trade them in a heartbeat for any leading competitor brand that offered gel pads or cushions.

Mac, please make these headphones more comfortable. I know that you can do better with your designs.

    The Best Earbuds Ever

    • Written by

These earbuds are the best! They fit my ears comfortably, the fit well, and they aren't too expensive. I mean, these are on par if not better than beat earbuds by Dr. Dre which are ridiculously expensive, when this is only $30. I don't recommend any other earbuds besides these. They're great!

    Outstanding

    • Written by from Saint Petersburg

I got these headphones with my IPhone, and originally thought they'd be the typically cheap ear buds usually bundled with any other phone. Couldn't have been any more wrong. These ear buds produce spectacular sound with sharp clarity and are durable. In my work I often times have to lift heavy packages that occasionally pull on the wire, but NOT ONCE have they fallen out of my ears when doing so. Additionally they come with a remote/mic combo that beats out anything else I've seen on the market (not produced by Apple). Keep it up!

Great earphones and so very durable

    • Written by from Austral

The best earphones you will ever use... great sound & easy to use when you answer calls. I accidentally washed them and they even went through the dryer - and they still work like new! But I really would like to see Apple Earpods that are retractable or at least tangle-free, as it's annoying untangling them each time I want to use them. Other than that, perfect!! :)

    Not a good fit

    • Written by from Salt Lake City

I have to keep pushing them into my ears to get a good sound. The sound is wonderful, but they dang buds keep falling out. This is very frustrating.

I have to say that if they would go in just a bit farther, they would be just right. They don't hurt my ears the way some others I have tried do. Maybe duct tape them in?

    Perfect For Country Road Runners!

    • Written by from Helston

I received my EarBuds with my new iPod nano 7, however the iPod was faulty so I had to return them, but I did try the EarPods before this mishap, and I loved them! They had a clear sound whilst allowing me to hear the sound of a car, which was several metres away. This was really useful to me as I run on windy country roads, and therefore need to be able to hear any traffic.

I had no problem keeping them in my ears - I've tried many different earphones, and through just walking, many have fallen out. Not these, these stayed put after a hard and fast 1 mile run, with no extra assistance from headbands or anything like that, very impressed!

After my faulty Nano, I've decided to get a shuffle, and am disappointed that it will come with regular Apple Earphones. I was considering buying these as an upgrade, but after listening to the performance, I thought they might be very expensive. After seeing them for sale at £25 I shall definitely be purchasing them!

    All around very good

    • Written by from Laguna Niguel

These are one of the best pair of headphones I've ever used. Their unique design creates it's own category. They don't have the discomfort of the seal of real in-ear headphones but still have the same amazing sound quality, if not better. They are so COMFORTABLE. I can wear them for hours and forget they are there, whereas I would get headaches after about an hour with other headphones. They are very durable and well designed. I use them for music, video editing, movie watching, just about everything and now I have 4 pairs! One complaint: they do leak sound considerably so I can't use these in the library.

    Best headphones and they're FREE

    • Written by from Dallas

I got a pair of headphones from the store that put the old iPhone headphones to shame. They had better quality and sound. Then I get a pair of these and they put the headphones I had before these to shame. I mean the acoustics are just awesome. I've tried countless headphones, spent hundreds of dollars, these EarPods top them all.

    Sounds great but too delicate

    • Written by from Calgary

I bought these headphones because they are very comfortable to put in my ears but within a couple of months, the button broke and the sounds are dramatically reduced, I have to turn on the volume really loud to hear my music. Got it exchanged but the new one almost broke in the matter of days, just a light crush and the shell torn apart, I can actually see the wires inside but thank god nothing happened to the sound. Another problem that I myself have had and others have telling me about is that the headphones keep changing the music and sometimes play it whenever it wants, and the sounds got really muffled too, told that to those apple technician but they didn't believe me :(
