I read many of the reviews regarding this new device, and don't understand why people are complaining. Must be PC People! Lol

Easy to setup, works just like a notebook pad and has more functionality.

It was great until it went crazy

I had the magic track pad for maybe 2 or 3 months before out of the blue, it stopped selecting things, then selected things while my hands were no where near it, 1-touch click stopped working, then 1-click stopped working, then it started moving things I didn't want to other places, and THEN it started freezing my comp whenever I turned the trackpad on.

I know, studied and practiced all the trackpad finger moves, so I know my fingers didn't somehow slip in the wrong direction. This drove me bananas for 2 weeks since I was convinced there had to be a way to fix it---after all, it's an apple product, righ?!

I tried everything (not in the order listed):
    Restart comp
Repaired my mac mini's permissions in Recovery mode
Turned off bluetooth, turned on bluetooth
    unpair and then pair
    new batteries
    cleaned trackpad with glass cleaner
    cleaned trackpad with rubbing alcohol
blew air on the trackpad to get dust out the edges with an air compressor
left it in a hot room to dry out (maybe the humidity in my office made it wonky, Idk)
left it alone 3 days to rest

But after all that, it was STILL acting very bizarre!

I'm finally taking it back to the store for a genius appt. Hopefully they give me store credit.

    Trackpad = Magic

When Apple introduced this product, I thought they were crazy. I didn't think this product solved any real customer need. After trying it out in the store, I decided to buy one and play with it. After using it for the last year, I will *never* go back to a mouse again. I use one on my MBP & another on my MacMini. It really is Magic.

Not really usable for things like photoshop, illustrator, photo editing, etc. I gave it to my wife after using it for an hour.

Why not have a USB version?

It took a while to get used to the trackpad, but I have grown to like it. But I find it annoying and inconvenient to have to change the batteries every two or three weeks. This is a desktop device. I would prefer to have a USB connector. USB is more reliable than Bluetooth. Every Bluetooth device occasionally loses connectivity, including this one. I find I have to keep my old mouse as a back-up for Bluetooth failures and battery rundown. The batteries also raise the back of the trackpad and make it less ergonomic. The wrist has to be bent back further than it would be if the trackpad lay flat. As a matter of fact, the back of the the trackpad should probably be lower than the front, not higher. This would give a better wrist angle. Please, Apple, stop shoving wireless "convenience" down our throats.

This is incredible, love the range of gestures just switched to this from magic mouse and you can do so much more with simple gestures, only downfall is trying to remember them all!

The design is stunning and the build quality is APPLE all over :)

Definitely would recommend this over the magic mouse for people with Mac mini and iMac :-)

I bought the magic trackpad as a Christmas present for my parents. They use it with their iMac and love it! it has plenty of space to move your fingers and clicking does not take a lot of force. Battery life is really good, too.

No matter where I click on the track pad, 40% a menu pops up. It's the menu that pops up if you right click on a standard mouse. Not impressed with the amount of money I spent and the low quality product. I highly recommend you to NOT purchase this trackpad. You'll be less frustrated and more productive with a standard mouse.

have been an Apple fan for over a decade, but have always loathed their mouse. Even the newer Magic Mouse is a brick to move and is too large and heavy for the comfort of my hand & wrist. The Magic Trackpad is AMAZING though! The customization options really seal the deal for me. Now I can use über light touches to control and move the cursor. Working in Logic & Garageband is a beautiful thing with the trackpad, and much to my surprise so is Photoshop. Before I had to hear every click of the mouse, now there is nothing but QUIET! love, love, love- Apple is finally doing it right! Just say no to mouse.

This was built for the mac! It allows you to use mac apps in new and truly exciting ways. However, it has 2 flaws...not bad when you consider all it does. 1st it has a little bit of a hard time picking up a right click. You need to be deliberate in right clicking things. 2nd, i haven't found a single game that it can be used easily with. Not to say that it doesn't work, just that you'll get far more control out of a mouse. If you play a lot of games, this may not be for you. If you browse the web, check your email, and use documents and general apps on your Mac, this will probably add to your enjoyment using your Mac.

Makes my sturdy old Mac Pro (2007) feel like new again. The gesture functionality works seamlessly, setup was painless and quick. Much less strain on my wrist, already bad after two decades of heavy mouse usage.

Dislikes: nothing yet, will update if I find anything.

Likes: Ease of setup. Ability to single and double click on pad (has to be setup in preferences), pinch and zoom (especially useful on large montors.

Can not be happier with the purchase.

For those with carpel/wrist/flexor muscle issues, this product is a life-saver. With just a quick config change, just a mere tap with any finger anywhere on the pad is a click. Within a day, I noticed the difference.

I am tired of dealing with batteries and the frequent precision issues with the Bluetooth.

I bought a magic trackpad in January and i really liked it, I barely used my mouse after that. However, after 4 months the left side of the trackpad does not let me click anymore, however the right side still works ok, I will try to replace it and if the shop does not let me I will go back to my mouse, I am not buying another one and risk having it stop working again in 4 months.

    So far, so good

I fell in love with this peripheral at the 5th Ave Apple Store where it is paired with nearly all iMacs on display. It's not ergonomic when standing but when seated normally, I find it to be a perfect angle. For several years I have been using a Kensington Expert Mouse and its angle did cause discomfort after some time so I had to take frequent breaks which wasn't always good for productivity.

So far I haven't had any issues with the trackpad. Time will tell I suppose, particularly regarding the battery life as many have mentioned. I used to despise tap-to-click but now I embrace it. It's a perfect match for my late-2011 MPB. When I'm at home it sits on a stand and I use the slim wired keyboard and the trackpad. This is a pretty sweet setup.

The trackpad works great. I use it with why Macbook Pro when its connected to an external monitor, along with the wireless apple keyboard. Those two products cover most of my needs. I very rarely use the magic mouse, only when more precision is needed, like editing photos. I only have one complaint about the trackpad, due to the tilt of the trackpad my wrist starts to hurt after prolonged use.

Ordered one with my new iMac, unuseable after 8 months. Acting very strange and unable to control. Had to go back to using a mouse.
