    It's a good remote.

    • Written by from Chippenham

It's a good remote that comes with the Apple TV although, like many others, I choose to use my iPhone or iPad to control the Apple TV and I just use this as a back up.

    Sleek n Nice

A useful tool to remotely control my iMac, great for presentation purposes. This remote is light years better than the original remote I had (the one that came with the older white iMac years ago). Only wish that it had a magnetic rear so that it could stick on my new iMac instead of just leaving it around on the table.

    Awesome Basic Tool

    • Written by from Greenville

This little accessory is awesome for basic functions such as watching movies, controlling presentations, and viewing images.

I have noticed there are numerous low-ratings and critical reviews, but the remote is what it is. It's a $20 tool and does not claim to be more that it is.

    Enjoy!

An accessory that requires more accessories

    • Written by from Lakewood

I should have looked closer before purchasing the apple remote as it does not control the iPhone without the phone being in a universal dock. I was excited to control my phone from across the room with it hooked up to my stereo, only to discover I have to purchase another accessory to do so. I will sadly be making my first return of an Apple product:-(

    For your toddler

    • Written by from Elmhurst

To be honest this seemed like the silliest thing ever. We got it as a gift and I held onto it. Actually I've had it for years. Today, I made my toddler a playlist and handed it to him. Now he can control his music without having to touch my MacBook. It has been a life saver. We have stopped fighting over my computer. I can write an email and he can still make the computer do things. A perfect stocking stuffer for you little techie.

Not for use as a PRESENTER!

    • Written by from Cedar Hills

Come on Apple. You have the best computers. We now need a tool to present in the corporate world. This is a joke for presenting. Not helpful. Need something much more powerful.

All the respect in the world for the Apple Products, but this is not a work tool.

Not compatible with new MacBook Air

    • Written by from New York

I was so excited when I bought my Apple Remote along with my new MacBook Air. This excitement only lasted until I got home and discovered it was not compatible with my new laptop. The people at the Apple Store assured me it would work and that I should have no problems. It turned out to be quite a pricey dust collector. Would of been nice to be informed which products it was compatible with.

Looks very pretty, but the instructions are worse than useless - no indication of how to use it for anything other than iTunes and i everything else. I bought it to use for Powerpoint presentations. There must be a way, but Apple isn't saying and there doesn't seem to be an online manual or online info I can find...

I bought a Macbook Pro in September and enjoy it. I just bought the remote this weekend and will be using it for my presentations and DVD playing...from across the classroom!

    Wish it was still plastic

    • Written by from West Hurley

I have no doubt the aluminum remote works well but the only problem I have with it is it's aluminum. The aluminum used by apple is not nickel free and therefore causes severe dermatitis in those with a nickel sensitivity. I wish the remote was still made in plastic as well.

I wish it was shorter too.

This thing is a remote not a presenter!!!

    • Written by from Sault Sainte Marie

Works with Mid 2010 Macbook Pro despite what some of the reviews say (even when configuring your macbook pro order the apple remote is an additional accessory option).

Only forward and back with powerpoint 2008/2011, no white or black screen option.

Line of sight only severely limits this REMOTES ability to be used as a presenter tool.

I wish apple made an RF version with a laser pointer.

Better looking, but not as good...

    • Written by from Lincoln

...as the old white remote; I can use my old one (and do, which makes the new one completely redundant) with my Apple TV at pretty much any angle anywhere in the room; this new one, despite looking and feeling nicer, has a very narrow 'field of view' - you have to have it pointed directly at the receiver...

Great product. No regrets whatsoever buying this remote

    • Written by from Lynchburg

It's one tiny remote. Feels extremely good in the hands, and does what it's supposed to do. You could even use it to control any applications with simple iRed Lite software. Great little remote that does everything a mouse can do. even better at times.

    Almost there

Apple definitely should use a click wheel on this. It's what everyone assumes it is already, why not make things easy. They're always talking about how everything is integrated and natural, now in the days where everyone has, had, or has at least messed with an iPod, a click wheel is natural. And why IR instead of Bluetooth?

    Great design, but...

    • Written by from Winter Park

Don't drop it. It's an odd thing to say for such a nice little metal remote that should be so solid, but if you are watching your apple tv and the remote happens to slide off the armrest of your couch, have fun trying to get the remote to work again. Usually if I pop the battery cover off, take the battery out, and then put it all back together, it works, but sometimes not.

    Waste of plastic !!!

    • Written by from bristol

Love the product can't fault it in any way, love how it's made out of aluminium so easily recycled so why oh why sell it in thick plastic packaging which could easily house the remotes innards ? ? ?

    Not available for new MacBooks!

    • Written by from Salem

I'm quite upset this option isn't available for the MacBook anymore, because it doesn't have IR. I absentmindedly tried using the remote control of my old MacBook on my new one to adjust the volume of my music from across the room. Needless to say, it didn't work, and this product won't work either. Now I have to stop what I'm doing, get up, and move to the computer to change the volume. . . thanks for the exercise?

    Interesting Fact

    • Written by from New York

Most of the remote controls stick magnetically to the middle left side of your iMac's screen (the black stripe around the screen). You will feel the magnetism there. If it is not strong enough to hold your remote, move your remote control up and down on the surface (this will gain your remote more magnetism) and than it will hold there perfectly. It is a cool and useful fact to know. I would give more than five stars for this product if I could.
