how long is this cable
Unless I'm looking at this cable adapter in the wrong way, I feel it may be difficult to hook up my iPad to my TV when the cable is so short?
It looks like about 2-3 inches? Why so short?
My TV connection is middle/top of the left side of my LCD Samsung 52" and I have no where to put my iPad to make this connection using this short adapater?
Why is this so?

Answer
You will need a standard VGA to VGA cable to connect to the adapter and then to the TV.
You'll note the adapter has a female VGA connector, so will your TV, so you can't connect the adapter directly to the TV. The VGA to VGA cable you need will most likely have come with your TV and will have male connections both ends.- Answered by Jason S from Waverley

To do it wirelessy you need to buy the $99 Apple Tv and upgrade your iPad to IOS 5. It is not possible for a Macbook Pro. If you are thinking of the Apple TV look at refurbished at the Apple online store, you can get them cheaper.

VGA can't output audio, just video. But HDMI Adapter can output both video and audio.

Can I do Mirroring with this on my iPad 3 with 3rd party applications?
My iPad 3RD generation with 4G, is my school purposed item and I occasionally have presentations on this. I wanted to see if I can hook up a projector with this adapter and show my presentations from applications like "Pages" or "Keynote" and so forth. I will not be playing any videos from itunes. It will not let you play iTunes downloaded movies on an external display but gives a message "this monitor is not authorized to display protected content"
If you sync the movies to a MacBook you can play the movie using the same monitor so I don't think the problem is the monitor- Answered by John S from Piedmont

Will the apple vga adapter show everything that appears on the ipad 2 screen?
I have read in the comments about the Apple VGA adapter that some people are having problems with what is shown on the VGA monitor. The problem is not everything that the ipad2 displays, shows up on the VGA monitor. Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes. That is what I use it for. Unlike the hdmi adapter, it doesn't have the passthrough charging connector.

Yes ... PDF files display well using the GoodReader application version 2.8
I wanted to use my iPad to project a ppt presentation I converted to PDF. After synching the PDF into my iPad as a GoodReader document I was able to open GoodReader, see the document in the list and on the very bottom right of the iPad screen there is a set of pop up menus. One of them is shaped as a flatscreen icon. If the vga adapter is plugged in to a VGA display device like a projector or a large monitor, the icon is active (not gray) and can be selected with a finger tap.
Opening the document now shows it on both the iPad and the via display device.
I posted this note because it took me a little time to notice the icon in the GoodReader app, it's new enough that there aren't good instructions yet on the GoodReader website and I didn't see any other comments when I searched for advice.

Can I use this adapter for keynote and pptx presentation with my ipod touch 4g or will it work only with the videos?
There is an apps called doc to go, with this app I can watch doc in keynote, numbers, and pages, and can create doc in pptx, word, excel. Will this adapter work to proyect this presentations?
