I have a iMac with 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM 10.6.8 with a 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and I want to upgrade my memory to 4 GB, what should I buy?

Best AnswerYes, this type of RAM will work for you. However, since your iMac comes with two slots for RAM. I would recommend not getting one 4GB memory stick, but instead getting 2x2GB memory sticks. The reason being is the processor will divide the work of the RAM between the two memory slots and you'll see better performance than with one 4GB stick installed. The real work of RAM is to help you run multiple software applications at once without lagging. When you divide the work up between two pieces of RAM the processor can partition the work more efficiently.

Why does Apple not state which models this RAM is compatible with?
I need RAM for a Mac Pro 1,1. Unfortunately, Apple does not provide any specifics of the models in which the RAM they sell can be used. Poor service.
But can it be used in this model and if not, what RAM can?- Asked by Willem S

Best AnswerYes, those will work. That model can take up to 6GB (1 x2GB stick + 1 x4GB stick) but you cannot get that blend from Apple.
