upgrade from tiger to mountain lion
On my MacBook Pro (2006), I recently lost OS X v10.6.8 snow leopard. I reinstall the original software and now have v10.4.8 Tiger. I been wanting to upgrade before this incident occured so before I purchase the software, can I go from Tiger straight to Lion or Mountain Lion?

Best AnswerNo. 10.7 and 10.8 are only available as downloads from the Apple App store. You must have 10.6.8 installed to access the App store and to upgrade. Apple sells a 10.6.8 DVD for $20. Buy that, install it, and then you can get the other upgrades.

ive never owned ever a mac before and would like to know whats the best mac for me , I want to do everything I do on windows ,but expect more from a mac , im loving the I pad , but now would like a mac computer but really unsure of which to choose , help me please,,im totally converted , which would be the best for a simpleton [ my words about myself lol ] to learning , will my apps from the I pad be on the mac I choose or do I have to re-buy, do I also need a mac mini , because I cant seem to find an answer I can unstand if I need it and what it really does , thankyou so much , sorry about the infantile questions , but I need infantile answers , I just wish I,d discovered apple earlier in life thanks so much all answers appreciated , I realise your time is important so thanks for taking the time out to answer a complete beginners questions , john , happy 2013 to all apple fans the world over .

Burning DVD's & CD's on Macbook Pro Retina
I am about to purchase a macbook pro and am wondering about creating CD's and DVD's. I know that I need an external superdrive with the retina display. Is this all I need to be able to create and burn a DVD or a CD as I will have to do this as part of my job.

Best AnswerDepends what you mean by "create DVD's or CD's" - The MacBook Pro with Retina Display comes with inbuilt software to let you do the basic functions (for example, burn music to a CD from iTunes, or iDVD, which lets you create DVD's from certain video files on your Mac) - for more complicated operations, such as copying DVD's or CD's, you will need additional software like Toast.

AnswerYes, there are Japanese versions of all Apple Products. If you are in Japan, you can use the Japanese Apple site. All the products from that site will have specific features for Japanese people such as a Kana keyboard. If you are in the United States, use the US Apple website. When you chose a product, before you purchase it, it will allow you to configure it your way. In the options, there is a "Keyboard and Documentation" section that will allow you to chose a Japanese keyboard and user guide. If you live in Japan, there are 7 Apple Stores. Personally, I have been to the Shibuya location and it's a great store with a very knowledgeable staff.

Mac Air 11" or Mac Air 13" or Retina Mac Pro 13" or 15"?
I have iMac 27", ipad 4th 34GB, but need to replace my current MacPro 11" (too many issues). I like to travel, take my laptop to work (realtor-part time), surf the net, email, photoshop, write, but no gaming. However, because of my health condition, I am spending more time in bed now, but hopefully I will get better. So what do you recommend?

Best AnswerYes I run a server, they are definately compaitable but can not connect to xbox 360. Just make sure the other player(s) have the paid version of minecraft and typed your servers ip/domain correctly.

Macbook air 13" vs MacBook pro 13"
Hi guys, i am a PC user switching over to Macbooks now.. Im in a hugee dilemma! i went to the store today and saw the 13 inch macboko pro and the macbook air....
macbook air has duo core i7 turbo boosted to 3.2ghz with 8gig memory and 256 SSD($1679.00) and the macbook pro had i7 turbo boosted to 3.6 ghz with 8 gig memory and 500GB regular hard drive(1429.00)....
i love how the air is compact and i can carry it with me anywhere but then i also like how the pro is a bit cheaper... i do prefer the SSD hard drive though over the regular one but i wanted to know does the macbook air run everything smoothly? like maybe autocad and photoshop and stuff. I will be downloading lots of music, movies and surfing the web and using it as my main computer to work on documents as well!

Best AnswerDepends on your needs. If you have no an iPad cause you prefer to have all the feature of a laptop, Macbook air is perfect for you. Ultra portable is better in my bag,SSD memory(i've tested it on a friend of mine 11inch air) is like "Flash" the superhero;it turns on in a second and the web browser is so fast. I will buy a new macbook air 13inch with 256GB, maybe with 8Gb of ram cause it's not upgradable later...I'm just waiting for the new Mountain Lion realese avaible n few days. Looking forward it!

Can I use a Kensington lock with a wall-mounted 21.5 in. iMac?
I have a wall mounted iMac. A friend suggested I get a Kensington lock for it. I want to know is if it is possible to use a lock since I don't have the original iMac stand.

Can I plug in my music keyboard and record onto the MacBook Pro 13"?
So I'm a music student and I wanted to know if the MacBook Pro 13" is good to use for program's such as GarageBand, Sibelius and Amadeus etc. Can I plug in my keyboard and record onto it? Why did Apple remove functionality from Airport utility?
Airport utility 5 had all sorts of monitors and filters. You could see who was on your wireless and do mac filtering. Airport utility 6 removes all that for no reason I can see. How can we get that functionality back?
