Can Logic function as a real time arranger and furnish backing tracks on the fly? Is there a plug-in to do this?

I currently use a Roland RA-800 arranger module to create styles and harmonies based on the notes that I am playing on a simple MIDI keyboard. It does this in real time for live performance. This arranger module is basically the electronic circuits from an arranger keyboard (like a Roland G-70) but does not have an actual keyboard.

Does MainStage 2 support Rewire?

For example: I would like to run MIDI clips in Live 6 , but the MIDI clips should trigger the sounds in MainStage either through a MIDI channel via Rewire communication or by using MainStage as a multi-channel plug-in device in Live 6.
Is any of these possible?

How do the processing demands of Logic Pro 9 compare to those of Digital Performer 8? Is Logic more efficient in concrete, measurable terms?

I've been using DP for years, but since installing version 8 I've noticed that my eight core Mac Pro is sometimes hitting the wall on CPU with as few as 12 tracks (6 live + 6 virtual instruments) and 3 or 4 plug-ins. This is new behavior and has me considering a switch to Logic. Has anyone done a side by side comparison using the same or similar source material and measured the results in terms of processing demand? Unless Logic has significant performance benefits it's not really worth the effort to make the change.

Can I plug a keyboard into my Mac and have whatever I play be written into sheet music?

Im thinking about purchasing Logic or Finale 2010. I'm a composer and ultimately I would like to purchase Logic. I'm looking to plug in my keyboard and have whatever I play be written into Manuscript instead of having to go in and write it all out, is that possible on Logic?

I would like to upgrade to Logic pro 9 from Pro 8. Will it delete any projects and extra vst's that I already have? Which product do i choose?
