where do i put the cable in on my macbook pro??

i have a hdmi cable and it doesn't fit in the usb holder on my mac book pro so do i have to get something for it or does it fit somewhere else ??

  • First of all, USB is not used for video output. Secondly, unless you have a new MBP with Retina Display, you don't have any place that you can directly plug this cable into your laptop. You need either a MiniDisplay port to HDMI port converter (it will have male MiniDisplay to female HDMI port) into which you can plug the HDMI cable or simply a MiniDisplay to HDMI cable (it will have male MiniDisplay port and male HDMI port). Also, your MiniDisplay port is your Thunderbolt port.
