Can you use this on a GE port of a Mac Pro tower to connect to a thunderbolt raid?

  • No, thunderbolt RAID boxes do not support standalone NAS (network attached storage) by plugging in a thunderbolt Gigabit Enet adapter.

    The only way to connect a Mac Pro tower over enet to a thunderbolt RAID is attach the RAID via thunderbolt to a computer that has a thunderbolt port (a 2011 Mac Mini comes to mind; server addition if you need robust sharing).

    Currently, Mac Pro has no Thunderbolt ports. So, no direct connect.
