Do you TOTALLY drain the batteries or wait until the batteries are at 5% before putting them back in the charger ?

You can charge them when ever you like. But I reccomend for optimail battery life to wait for them to drop bellow atleast 10%

NEVER totally drain your batteries!
any degradation in performance means you should charge NOW.
