Product Information

  • The 45-Watt MagSafe Power Adapter for MacBook Air features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain, and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector will light up; an amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC lead is provided with the adapter for maximum lead length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Redesigned specifically for MacBook Air, the adapter is the perfect travelling companion. It has a clever design that allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible only with MacBook Air with MagSafe Power Port.

I love this little w I've got a MacBook Air 13" (2011) that I feel is the finest travel computer for a businessman ever invented. I love this little workhorse. Also, the power adapter on mine works just fine ... no problems. Instead of unplugging every time I hit the road, I thought it would be a good idea to buy a spare for my computer bag. Wrong!

$79.95? Is this someone's idea of a joke? Eighty bucks for a power adapter? Sure the cell phone manufacturers have run this scam for years, refusing to standardize on a plug configurations/power ratings so that the buyer is forced to buy yet another power adapter (I've got about twenty of them sitting in a drawer). But those pieces of junk are only $20 or $30. $80? For what?

I've got AppleCare, so I'll just keep on plugging in and unplugging the one adapter I have until it dies, then you can replace it for free. Really, you folks at Apple build the coolest stuff on earth, but you do need to re-think your policy of over-charging for the small stuff.

But the power supply is already intermittent. It is under warranty, but they will not pay me for the half-day I will spend going to the Apple store to get something that should last longer than the computer!

My best recommendations is to keep them cool by allowing them to breathe and do not yank on the cords too hard (treat them with respect).

These adapters don't last as long as they should. How about making them last as long as the MacBook computer that comes with it?!? In just a few short years, two adapters have failed and I am forced to purchase another one. Let's see how long the third adapter lasts, but I'm not expecting much.

In three years. I take great care with my belongings, and I'm a longtime Apple user and fan, but COME ON.

Is this part of a planned obsolescence scheme? It's such a shocking waste that these cords break so quickly - in the same spot every time. Everyone knows, and Apple clearly has to know they need to deal with this before someone's house burns down because of these horrid cables.

Not to mention - the simple option of only purchasing the thin half of the cable is not being offered, so we are wasting (collectively) thousands upon thousands of the functioning half, and money!!!

    Unbelievable.
