Product Information

  • More control at your fingertips.

Magic Trackpad gives you a whole new way to control what’s on your Mac desktop computer. When you perform gestures, you actually interact with what’s on your screen. You feel closer to your content, and moving around feels completely natural. Swiping through pages on screen is just like flipping through pages in a magazine, and inertial scrolling senses the momentum in your fingers as you move up and down a page.

More to touch, more to love.

Your fingers will fall for the Magic Trackpad. It’s made with smooth, wear-resistant glass that feels great to the touch. And it’s nearly 80 percent larger than the built-in trackpad on the MacBook Pro, giving you plenty of room to perform gestures. Because the entire surface of Magic Trackpad is a button, you can click on objects just as you would using a traditional mouse. And Magic Trackpad sits at the same height and angle as the Apple Wireless Keyboard, so you can go from trackpad to keyboard in one seamless motion.

    Bluetooth technology.

Magic Trackpad connects to your Mac via Bluetooth wireless technology. Use it in conjunction with the Apple Wireless Keyboard for a cable-free, uncluttered workspace. And if you feel like venturing away from your desk, Magic Trackpad maintains a reliable and secure connection up to 33 feet away from your Mac.

I use my Mac Mini hooked to a 42" HDTV, so using a mouse from the couch is pretty terrible. Even nice mice like the magic mouse have trouble tracking unless I use a lap desk and mouse pad, which isn't the most comfortable solution. With this, I can surf in comfort and give all of my iMac-using buddies Mac envy!

Besides, with all of the multitouch gestures on the pad, this is the most versatile pointing device Apple makes! Here's hoping they make an iOS-based Apple TV and then make the touchpad a gaming controller too!

This is a great addition to my bluetooth keyboard & compliments my Waycom pad for photo work. I'm not sure if it's really 'worth' the upgrade over the magic mouse, but it is nice to have such a large gesture-based surface, much like the iPad. Props to Apple for thinking outside the box on this one, although the possibility & 'idea' of this technology could have happened a few years ago.

I've had an editing keyboard for some time that is suspended from the desk just above my knees but I had to reach up the the MBP to use the trackpad. This Magic Trackpad is the gadget I've been asking Apple for!

Using a trackpad is an incredible improvement in efficiency. Faster, easier on the fingers, lots of space to move fingers around. Using a trackpad is an incredible improvement in efficiency. Faster, easier on the fingers, lots of space to move fingers around. But the rubber risers on the bottom fall out (mine within about 6 months) which render the trackpad useless. Would like Apple to consider a redesign so the rubber things are easily replaceable.

After When I bought a new iMac, I went to the Apple Store to look around first, and saw a trackpad connected to a different Mac. After a brief trial, and without thinking it over too much, I decided that this would be more my style than the "Magic Mouse".

When I actually started using it at home, I discovered that there was was a bit of a learning curve. I went through the trackpad preferences to select the options that seemed best for me and the applications I run. Tap to click is the easiest, but it doesn't work perfectly. Sometimes there is accidental clickage from the lightest contact, sometimes it stubbornly refuses to work on the first or second try. Not all of the gestures work as shown by the animated hand in the setup dialog. The thumb and three finger gesture to show the desktop does not work for me. I have yet to find an application where the two finger rotate does anything. I don't actually need those gestures (yet), but I like things to work the way they are supposed to. So 3 stars rather than 4, even though the trackpad does what I need it for well enough.

I tried the Magic Mouse for months before connection problems made me turn to the trackpad. I wasn't thrilled with the prospect of having to use a trackpad all the time (change is hard), but this one has made me a convert in just a few days. Plus, it makes using my MacBook away from my desk (when I just use the built-in trackpad) easier because I'm so familiar with all the gestures now. Oh, and the Magic Trackpad has none of the connection issues I experienced with the Magic Mouse, so if you're experiencing that issue, don't hesitate to make the switch.
