Won't work if products are in cases (even apple bumper)

    • Written by from Farmington Hills

This product would be nice, except for the fact that the iPhone and iPad can't be in a case. When I ordered I explained that the iPhone was in a bumper and the iPad was in the Apple portfolio. The dock will not allow for that type of setup. More

Crazy People! I love this dock!

    • Written by from Toronto

A lot of people have made scathing reviews about the instability of this product.

Please. Think a little before you post.

    1. The base itself is sturdy, solid and heavy enough that I trust my iPad 2 and iPhone 4 on it together.

    2. Many people said that the two docking ports were "unstable." They're not unstable. That's like saying the apple magnetic laptop battery connector is "unstable" because it pops out easily. It's MEANT to, people! To avoid damage!

The ports on this base *intentionally* rock about half an inch to allow for you to pull your phone/iPad off from any angle without accidentally causing damage to your phone or iPad, or to the dock itself.

    3. Many people also said they were annoyed that they couldn't plug in their iPad with a case on. Well. Come on. Even the standard Apple iPad stand/docking station doesn't allow you to plug the iPad in, even with just the magic cover on it. Dock makers have to go with the thickness specifications of the iPad, not the specifications of the iPad with potentially many different thicknesses of cases and covers... so do yourself a favour, get a case or cover that pops off easily, and be happy with a rockin' dock.

    4. I love the fact that unlike its competitor, the iphone doesn't block the iPad. I frequently have shows on in the background while I'm designing, and I like the fact that my iPhone doesn't block my view of the iPad while they're both plugged in.

    5. The little change/keys cubby is unbelievably adorable. :)

    Good and Bad..

    • Written by from Maple Shade

I got this dock so that I could charge my iphone 4 and ipod along with my ipad. However, the ipad does not fit on the dock with a case on it. I did not attach the plastic "bumpers" which allowed for me to leave my iphone's case on. It allowed me to keep 2 of my cases on it (kate spade polka dot, and a case-mate), i did not try with my other ones.

However, I ended up returning it after having it for just short of 2 weeks. Thought i could spend my money on something better. I'll wait for a better dock to come out ...

    Ok

    • Written by from Wauchula

I trust putting my iPhone 4s in it, but I put something behind my iPad when I put it in.
The docking station does not offer support for the back of the iPad.

On a more positive note, the docking station does not take up to much space.

    Good iOS Charger

    • Written by from Lansdale

I bought this to be able to charge my iPad and iPhone at the same time. The coin/key/etc. area is clever, but I never use it. I guess it's because the charger is in the living room. Over all, it works great charging iPads and iPhones with cases, but it's a little more of a struggle with the iPad. It's tough to align with the Smart Cover on. It also doesn't fit quite right when the Smart cover is open and wrapped around the back. It's also quite pricey, hence the four star rating. More

  • Will this work with the iPad 2?
    • Asked by Anthony M from Rockville

    Answer

Yes it works with iPad 2 ,I recently left a bad review on this docking station due to that the ipad2 will not seed right with base connection (if you have a protective rear case it really won't fit) I was going to return it ,with return shipping cost and restocking fees I chose to keep it and modify it. I removed the 2 plastic nipples on each side of iPad side base connection ( I taped up both base connection (so no dirt got in)then used my dremel with stone grinding wheel ) I took about 5 min to do and now it works great!!! Even with my rubber rear case More
