Not custom designed to fit MBP Retina

    • Written by from Gold Coast

I bought this product to protect the keyboard on my MBP retina 13" from liquid spill. Whilst the overall quality of the material and the thickness of the skin is pretty good, I don't think this product is specifically designed for rMBP. This is very clear by just looking at it from the side of the machine. The skin's profile is obviously slightly higher than the keyboard. Because of this, the skin will leave some greasy marks on the screen, and for that I had to buy a screen protector. When typing with the skin on, I can feel the gap between the skin and the keys, making key press a bit clumsy.

All in all, you get decent keyboard protection but keep in mind it's not gonna be a perfect fit if you have rMBP.

    Turns yellow over time

    • Written by from ROSEMEAD

In fact it is a great product and the thinness is great. But keep in mind that it will become yellowish over time (or at least noticeably darker then when you first bought it). Washing cleans it up a bit, but the dark tint remains. sigh.

    Nice quality.
    Barely noticeable.
Takes a little bit of time to get use to, because you need to push down a little harder.

If it gets to dirty it can put a pattern of your keyboard onto the screen, so I recommend using a screen protecter with it.

    Overall, a really nice product.

Not exactly what the (positive) reviews say

    • Written by from Warsaw

Encouraged by overall positive feedback, I have purchased the Moshi Clearguard for situations in which I have to use my Retina MBP with not necessarily clean hands. Unfortunately, the products is not what I expected. The awesome MacBook keyboard becomes a totally different one and typing on it is not fun anymore. Whereas for pressing single keys it's okay, for typing a full text I keep on making mistakes and overall type a lot slower than without the protector. Also, after a while the fingers get more sweaty than usual and you get a feeling of stickiness while using (and I'm not the type of a sweaty-palms guy).
Having said that, the Clearguard still fits pretty well and protects the keyboard from dust & oily fingers. So for me it's worth using only in very special situations, when you want to avoid otherwise problematic process of cleaning the keyboard itself after the use.

    Don't buy - useless!

    • Written by from Mount Pritchard

Please don't buy this keyboard guard! ! bought it today with my new macbook pro 13" retina display. The guard fits the keyboard but it's very flimsy and flutters/moves when you type. It also makes typing slower because when you try to tap a letter, the guard moves slightly, making it difficult. I do not recommend it at all. I really want my money back. Useless.

    Moshi ClearGuard is Ok

    • Written by from Knoxville

I purchased this keyboard cover to protect my keys against my fingers. It does a great job protecting the keys, but I do not like how the protector gets really dirty and smudged. Also when you close the lid your fingerprints appear on the screen. Very annoying. I have tried to clean the Moshi Clearguard but it doesn't really help.

At first I was a bit hesitant, but after 1 month of using this product, my keyboard looks brand new. I started using the cover as soon as I got my mac! I won't be using my 15' MBP without it! The only thing I don't like about it is that it has to be cleaned regularly. I clean mine once a week. If it isn't cleaned, the keyboard dirt (grease) leaves prints on the screen. The product is thin as advertised. I forget that it's there sometimes. The LED lights on the keyboard have no problem shining through this transparent cover. The cover also perfectly aligns with the keys. I will definitely be buying from moshi again.

Does not fit MacBook Pro 13" retina

    • Written by from Riverside

When I bought it, this was advertised as fitting all macbook pros, even the 13" retina. I found that it does not sit properly in the well around the keyboard and because of that was not flush with the keys. it was essentially unusable. i hope they come up with one for the macbook 13" retina soon!

not worth the money 0 *'s

I purchased the Moshi clear guard keyboard protector, palm guard palm rest protector, and the IVisor pro matte screen protector for my new macbook pro. The fit of the palm guard rest and the iVisor were off by 1/16 of an inch. I trimmed the palm guard rest and didn't even bother to try and get the iVisor to fit. The palm guard has now been on my computer for 3 weeks and is coming off. The keyboard protector works best when not on the computer. When on the computer, it makes the computer fill like an old mechanical typewriter. If I could I would give this companies products

    Perfect Fit!

    • Written by from Coffs Harbour

This keyboard protector fits perfectly on the keyboard. It moves around a tiny bit will typing but it is not noticeable.

The only complaint I have is that when using the arrow keys, the protector seems to lift up and slide around more, I believe this is because of how far the arrows are from other keys.

    Can't be more satisfied

    • Written by from Docklands

This is a must-have product if you seriously care for your Mac's keyboard from all the dust, body sweat and anything else that shouldn't be on it. Ultra thin with great silicone quality, you'd barely feel that you're actually typing on a cover but not the keyboard itself. Highly recommended!

    Definitely not worth the money

    • Written by from Chapel Hill

I bought two of these, one for me and one for my wife's MacBook Pro. The protector does fit well, protects your keyboard, and does exactly what you would expect it to do. However, it starts to get "cloudy" after just a short time, I tried washing it like the instructions say but it didn't help. This cloudiness makes the keyboard look absolutely horrible and makes it more difficult for the backlights to shine through. If you're going to get a keyboard protector buy from a differenet manufacturer.

Poor fit on my MacBook Pro 4.1(Penryn)

    • Written by from Seattle

The Moshi Clearguard protector is a sloppy fit on my 2008 MBP. It is totally useless except as a dust cover.. cannot use if typing. I purchased this based on the product description which stated it is for a MBP. I should have investigated with greater care and emailed customer care for more info. Apple or Moshi should provide better info on their initial product description so customers don't waste time and money on the wrong product. Perhaps stating the year of the MBP laptop... e.g 2008, early 2009 etc etc... I purchased a Moshi Clearguard CS a couple years ago for my Apple wireless keyboard; that cover is a perfect fit and stays in place during use. I tried the Clearguard CS/wireless protector on my MBP 2008/Penryn but it does not fit either. Same problem with slop that prevents use while typing. Only solution I can think of is to purchase another wireless keyboard and put a permanent dust cover over my MBP laptop keyboard...

    Perfect keyboard companion

    • Written by from Bangkok

I've used Moshi keyboard protectors on all Apple keyboards for years now, and they are absolutely brilliant.

Their lifespan is long, and while they get opaque somewhat after some time, it is possible to clean them and use a towel to somewhat make them clearer again.

If you don't mind slight opaqueness of the film, the life span of these things is many years. Some that I still use are 4 years old without any visible damage on them, in fact, I never had to replace one, although should it break on me, I'd buy another without thinking.

This is one accessory that, together with screen protector as no matter how thin, it could touch the screen, you should get for your MBP. Another one would be palmrest protector.

All in all, Moshi does beat pants off competitors when it comes to accessories for Mac.

    It really change your mac...

    • Written by from milano

i bought the moshi clearguard for my macbook pro 13 and is really a terrible feeling to use it.

First of all the price is sick considering that is a piece of silicon and nothing more.

U lose all the amazing touch of the keyboard cause it became harder to push and if you type fast you keep loosing letters.

At the end after a few weeks i put it back on the box and there i ll let it..

    Not worth it

    • Written by from Washington

This was always in the way. The typing felt weird and I was not used to it so it made me make a lot of typos. Also, every time I closed my lid and then opened it it would stick to the screen and I would always have to readjust it. Not worth it.

Great on the rMBP 15 inch...

    • Written by from Irwin

I just got this product a few days ago on my 15 inch rMBP. I was worried it wouldn't fit, but it fits great. Keeps the keyboard clean and protected. Also, it keeps the typing noise down from hitting the keys, which is great if that gets on your nerves like me. A great product, and was shipped very fast to me.

    Great Product

    • Written by from Toronto

I just bought this product and its perfect. It stays in place and looks almost invisible. Typing is no problem and it is very easy to get used to. It is made from TPU plastic seems durable. Time will tell to see how well it wears and how washable it is.

    Worth the money

    • Written by from Gold Coast

I started looking into buying covers because a lot of my friends had some so I was used to other covers and was ready to compare the Moshi to the coloured ones from Kmart and eBay. The cover itself is much thinner than the other ones, but is much more expensive (twice, if not more, times the cost!). However, if you wanted to keep the backlit feature of the keyboards and not cover it with - albeit, pretty - coloured covers, then Moshi is for you.

However, the extra push that is needed to type on this keyboard must be taken into consideration - if you're looking for something that won't hinder you at all, then any cover, really, is not for you. I've only had the Moshi for a month or so, but already during this time the keyboard has loosened up a bit. I think it's worth the money because it feels much more durable but lighter than the other covers!

    Very underwelmed.

    • Written by from Mildura

After reading the reviews I had quite high hopes for this product. It's certainly not a perfect fit and you will notice it while using it. It slips around a bit while using it, most noticeably if you're rocking the Up/Down arrow keys. It's also quite visible. I'll only be using this very occasionally, and will possibly ditch it if I can adapt to it.
