    Amazing!

    • Written by from Oroville

With AirPlay speaker in every room (6), 2 Apple TVs, 4 iPhones, 3 Macs, Xbox, Roku, Wink and misc other devices hitting the network, this AirPort Extreme handles it all. No more dropped packets, connections are maintained, bandwidth is amazing and everything "just works". Setup was 20 min, Comcast as ISP, used older extremes to extend network and a couple airport expresses to run speakers outside. Couldn't be happier. If you're thinking of upgrading "just do it" you will not be disappointed.

    AirPort Extreme

    • Written by from OFallon

I don't know how it is possible that this router has received anything less then 5 stars. I have charter Internet and have seen significant improvements in my internets speeds and reliability since buying this. I used to own netgear routers because that is what charter gave me, but the Internet would be slow or cut out at times. But with this AirPort Extreme that is not the case. I get substantially greater speeds then I ever did with netgears and a way more reliable connection. The router is probably the easiest thing I have ever set up too. I want to thank Apple for making such great products. They really are the leaders in innovation.

Avoid Apple Extreme at ALL costs

    • Written by from Seattle

I am usually a big Apple supporter, but my experience with the Apple Extreme router has been a disaster. I have spent 5 days trying to get it to work and have utilized my internet provider, AppleCare and the Apple store support team and still have not been able to get it to work. After reading the thread on Apple's website it appear that there have been problems with the airport products for years and Apple has not fixed the bug(s) yet. Shame on Apple. Shame, shame, shame. If you want a lot of headaches, by all means spend $200 on an Airport Extreme, otherwise purchase something else. If I could rate this with a negative number I most certainly would.

Skeptical about this product being so good and easy to set up. Hey it's apple I gave it a try purchasing a refurbished one & setting it up the day I received it. The internet didn't work on the router so I called apple support & less than 2 minutes simply changing one setting I was good to go. Set up time took about 10min. What took the longest was the router uploading the data from my OLD router. Works like they said it would Perfect

    Best Wireless Router

    • Written by from Collegeville

I had previously been using an old pc running pfSense but after buying this router, both speed and functionality were perfect. The antennas in this machine are phenomenal. I am able to get excellent connection even through four walls (one even made of brick). I'm very satisfied and would recommend this router to anyone looking for a quick, easy, and permanent Wi-Fi solution.

    AirPort Extreme access point

    • Written by from Modesto

Purchased the AirPort Extreme to use as a Access Point. I have UVERSE 75 internet service and was getting slow wifi connections (around 25 mps next to the router). Configured the airport using the airport app (on my IPAD). Turned the wifi on the 589 off. Now my wifi connection rates are 70-75 mps. Easy to set up and really happy with the performance.

    Wonderful Router

This product is top of the line. Along with its time capsule counterparts, the ac wifi is incredibly fast. I have never had an issue with loading anything or airplay. This product is absolutely amazing and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

    Absolutely Disappointed

    • Written by from Muskogee

I was excited about replacing my old router with this AirPort Extreme. The reviews were from one extreme to the other and with me being an optimistic individual, I chose to give the AirPort a chance. Man was I wrong!!! This router continually drops connection, streaming movies or shows are very jumpy. I could understand if I was running all of my apple devices at one time but it is absolutely sad that I can only run one device at a time and the connection is still horrible. My recommendation is to go with another brand or wait until Apple does better job in the router technology.

    It Was Work Fine..

    • Written by from Warrington

Bought this about 6 months ago, the first 2 months works flawlessly, but then..!:

    1. After 2 months using it I have to restart about 1 to 2 times a day in order to have all my gears (1 iMac, 2 MacBook Pros, 3 iPad, 3 iPhone & 1 AppleTV) connected to it.
    2. Some times those gears are connected to the Airport"Not-So"Extreme, but they are not connected to the internet.
    3. Guess Network never work in any which way!.

    Very disappointing!.

I have been running the same "Airport Express" for the last four years. Thought it might be time to upgrade and send my signal out a little further. Hooked up the "Airport Extreme" and what a magnificent difference. Internet loads faster and no dead spots in my home any longer.
Was easy to hook up... if you take your time and not rush things... * NOTE ... take your time and let everything load as it should and hookup will be easy. Would I buy it again? You bet I would!

    Don't buy this!

    • Written by from Grand Rapids

Spent the money on this the beginning of April, 2015 and by mid May we started to notice first one printer stopped working then shortly after another printer then one of our computers (we have three different printers and five different computers for business). We reset the Air Extreme several times when the first printer stopped working which only helped for a day or two. When the second printer stopped working resetting didn't help at all. Now our main computer for our business says it is connected but won't go on line. This is so frustrating for only having this thing for 2 months. A total waste of money.

    It Just Works

    • Written by from Centreville

As the famous saying goes this device just works. I had constant drop outs with my previous router and my speeds weren't anywhere near what I was paying for (75mbps). I've had this since December 2014 and I could probably count the drop outs on a single hand if that. The speed is consistently fast as well. The best compliment I can give this device is that I rarely even have to think about it.

Awesome Router. My Xbox live does not drop out anymore!

    • Written by from Melbourne

I had recently upgraded my ISP plan with OPTUS and was provided a Netgear CG3000v2 modem router. That free issue router was fine for general surfing etc, but had caused massive amounts of Xbox drop outs where online gaming such as World of Tanks was I near impossible.
I decided to get an AirPort Extreme and change that useless CG3000v2 into bridge mode. As I already have iMac and iPads iPhones and iPods between family members the setup was a breeze using the iMac. I also had an Aiport express lying around and now using it as a wifi extender. Absolute brilliant network. All family members have noticed a huge increase in network speeds for file transfers within the home and surfing.
Apparently there are plenty of people saying the CG3000v2 supplied by the ISP OPTUS is a very restricted one when it comes to IP forwarding etc. Save yourselves the headache dealing with CG3000v2 issues change it to bridge mode and get one of these Airport Extremes!! We are loving it.

    Airport Extreme: extremely pleased

    • Written by from Boise

Replaced an old Airport Express 1264a with a new Extreme. From box opening to set-up and running in less than 5 minutes. Airport Utility made it easy. Used the same ID and password as old express and all my devices were still connected after replacement. Strong signal in residential home. WiFi test showed it was a bit better than old router. Main reason for buying a new router was to have additional ethernet ports. I wish the rest of life was as easy to set-up.

Used to replace our Infinity Home Hub 3 so the BT modem now connects to the WAN port on this instead. Great result, no more loss of network that was dropping several times a day, and no more spending hours on the phone to BT in India trying to resolve the issue.

Apple have dumbed down and removed features

    • Written by from BUNDABERG NORTH

The best description of this WiFi access point, is adequate but don't bother if you want any (even basic) degree of customization. The Retail price is on the steep end as well compared to competitors.

The router can only be configured using Apple Airport Utility software which only works on Mac or Windows, they have removed various features from this software including the ability to adjust the radio transmitter power.

There is no button to easily turn on and off the WiFi radio. The appearance is quite bland. Apple are non-responsive to requests to bring back features they removed from the airport utility software.

By forcing customers to use Apple Airport Utility to configure the router, it forces you to either be an Apple customer on your computer or buy other Apple products or use Windows. There is no web interface to set it up. Other competitors have web page based set up, with far far more options and can be even accessed from Linux if you want. Apple try to lock you into their proprietary eco-system with every product they release.

it really doesn't get any easier than this

    • Written by from MAYFIELD

I have struggled over the past year with my old wireless router, I had a friend tell me about the Apple airport extreme after purchasing it, I was slightly reluctant to believe how easy it was everyone was saying, it literally took me longer to get it out of the package then it did for me to connect it. Signal strength is awesome everywhere on my property and the speed is too! But the best thing is now, my Apple TV works like it should!!!! five stars!!!!!

    The Gold Standard

Simply the best managed 4 port wireless switch out there. I know it's expensive, but even Windows users should consider this. The range is simply unmatched by anything else. Three of these will cover the upstairs AND downstairs of a house with Faraday walls. Can't recommend it enough.

Fixed all problems with BT Home Hub 5

    • Written by from London

Like many others here I bought this to replace a BT HomeHub that was performing terribly and would drop wireless to the Apple TV if someone even just looked at their phone.

Set up was done in about 5 minutes. Just plug the WAN of the Airport into one of the LAN ports on the Home Hub (you will need a CAT 5 ethernet cable, not included). Open wifi settings on your iPhone and there will be an option to set it up from there. No admin login or BT username / password required.

Every device on the network now performs perfectly with no loss of signal or random moments of slow download speeds. Inc: iPhone 6, iPhone 4S, iPad Air, Sony Vaio Windows 7, MacBook Pro, some crummy Android phone (not mine I swear!), an Apple TV and a Sony PS4. All connected at once sometimes and nothing goes wrong.

Yes it's expensive, but it's well worth it. Stop looking at it and wondering wether to buy it or not and just get one.

    New airport

    • Written by from Enumclaw

So far I've been using this product for two days and I went to print some things and I have an old Canon PIXMA IP 4000R and that of course is a wireless printer but old-school. And I had to change wireless networks at home to print to it because my older fifth-generation AirPort Extreme would not connect to it but this one does and finally realizing that after minute or so that I was printing without changing wireless networks I was all excited. I'm going to give my old wireless AirPort Extreme to my daughter. It's a different looking design having a little mini tower instead of a flat pancake like device. It's so fast!
