    complete rip off!

    • Written by from Allston

bought it at an apple store for 20 EUROS!!!

"worked" (very weak connection, if you touch the phone much it ll stop charging like it doesn't connect well)
suddenly without having even updated my iOS or anything it stopped working showing the "this accessory is not certified and my not be supported.." message.

So how come an original adapter from apple is suddenly not certified?

    Complete rip off.
can't charge with third party cables because they block it claiming that it is to protect the user from hazards. (right..)
can't charge with original cables because they break in less than 6 months
can't charge with original adapter because they block it

Apple is becoming impossible, this is just unacceptable.

    Don't bother.

    Programmed to Fail

    • Written by from San Antonio

In buying this product I had hopes that I wouldn't have to keep spending money on accessories but instead I would just be able use an adapter on my current micro-USB products. Unfortunately that couldn't be the case. Within 3 months of use I get the error message "This cable or accessory is not certified". And it's not just a bug with my product, since I've gotten it replaced over 3 times! All of which have broken within 3 months. I've finally given up on this product.

    Accessory not supported

    • Written by from Welland

I have had this for less than three weeks and it is now useless. 95% of the time I plug it in nothing happens at all, nothing, no charging, no connection. The other 5% it charges for a few seconds then I get a message that this accessory may not be supported and it stops charging. $25 down the drain.

Third party adapter, but restrict third parties.

    • Written by from Mount Vernon

I've had an adapter for my iPad for a year, worked great on iOS 6 and 7. However, I bought a new iPhone and all my lightning cables broke, 1 aftermarket, 3 Original. I lost my adapter and bought a new one because my cables stopped working. I started using it for two days and ever since I have this warning “This accessory may not be supported”. I have already gotten three such warnings (one of them when I typed ‘three’. It just doesn't work, this is a fail on Apple's behalf, give us an adapter for a third party cable and not allow use of it. Shame, shame, shame, Apple.

Zero Stars...Too Flimsy & Doesn't Work Half the Time

    • Written by from Studio City

This could have been a great product...but it is so flimsy that the metal lightning connector bends and breaks off super easily. I've had tow now....first one broke off completely, second one bent at almost a 45 degree angle from the base (just from lifting up the iPad while charging). Not only does it bend and break easily, half the time I did try to use it I got comparability warnings about not working with my device (and it would stop charging altogether).

Don't waste your money on this....I thought it was a super efficient way to re-use existing micro USB cables I had...but it's been a complete waste of time and money, and is super frustrating to see something of this shoddy quality sold by Apple.

Who designed this cable, a 3 years old?

    • Written by from Newark

Who ever approved or design this needs to be fired! Horrible design.. no reinforcement on the wire to the adapter end part! a few twist and the 4 small wiring can break off! people who are aware about the exchange will keep buying new ones, not knowing they can go to apple n get replacement because of the 1 year warranty when u buy the iphone 5 or ipad..

    Not compatible with all cables

    • Written by from Beverley

This works fine on my iphone 5 with a nokia 1m cable, but not with a 5m cable even though the nokia works OK. It just puts the phone into a charging/not charging loop. Will try with a 3m cable and if I don't report back it works

    Issue charging

    • Written by from reading

Only works when pressure is applied to the adapter (which means they are practically unuseable). Either a fault with the iphone, or the adapters (ordered 2 and same issue with both). As iphone works perfectly with standard lightning cables, can only assume to be a fault with the adapters. Not impressed!
