    Great Profit Centre For Apple

    • Written by from Norwich

As most reviewers state the cable doesn't last any longer than a few months before it starts splitting at the Lightning conductor end which means you constantly have to replace them. Great business for Apple at £25 a pop not so great for Apple's loyal customers we have 5 Apple devises that need this type of cable so you can do the Math. Apple this product needs improving full stop.

    USB cable

    • Written by from Leesburg

This product consistantly goes bad, to the point I will no longer buy apple products. I call it the weakest link of all apple products such as ipads, iphone and laptops.

    Very dissapointed.

    • Written by from Poznan

I'm very disappointed with this product. I have had an issue with the plastic cable wrap tearing away near the lightning port of the cable. The same thing happened to my second cable in the same spot. This is definitely an issue. Not Apple quality..

Very unhappy, due to the danger this cord could have caused…

    • Written by from Hurt

While owning this (original) cord a little over a year with gentle use, it has turned out to die with the attempt at going out with a bang. It was being used to charge the iPad with retina display, and what happened was it began to literally smoke at one end closest to the USB adapter, and nearly caught fire, forcing me to have to yank it out of the socket before we had a more serious problem on our hands. Surely, Apple, you have done better at making better cords, and this issue needs to be resolved, quickly…since it can clearly be a safety hazard. I will be on the hunt for a second cord, meanwhile…Apple has some fixing to do to improve the quality of their cords so that their devices are user worthy such as to compliment their user friendliness.

Love the additional length and durability!

    • Written by from Ingersoll

Notice others have commented negatively on the 2m cord. I purchased one for travel and my night stand for daily charging and have used it every day at home and away and its still like new. I especially like the additional length at home and in hotels when the outlet may not be close to the bed side table when charging my iPhone or iPad.
No complaints and it is much more robust than the the 1m version.

I love my iPhone and stuff but these chargers are awful I'vejust bought my 15th charger today! I've had my phone for about 10 years!!
Apple needs to redesign the charger with what they used with the older chargers asI still have the iPod touch 4Gen and the charger it came with and it still works to this day and I had the iPod the first day it came out!!

    • Written by from Newton Abbott

These cables were supposed to be the future of Apple products. It's a bigger disappointment since unsliced bread. Credit where credits due, it can charge the phone very quickly. However, cannot last longer than a month doing the job in which it was created for. And for a whopping $29 a pop, it's unbelievably overrated and overpriced. VERY UNHAPPY. Not cool Apple, you're making Android look good!!!!!!

Complainers are abusive to their cables

    • Written by from Plano

I have had the same Lightning cable that came with my iPhone 5 on launch day 2 years ago. It is used constantly and has no issues or signs of wear. You would think it is brand new except for its discolored from handling for 2 years.

If you cable is breaking it is because you are not taking care of it and are twisting it too much. There should not be strain on your cable when it is plugged in.

I think since the Lightning cable was introduced... since it can plug in "either way" people just pick it up and jam it in and puts tension on the end of the cable. They set it down... pick it up and use, set it down... pick it up and use... and every time they do this they twist it further.

Take care of your equipment people and it will last.

    One of the Lucky Ones

    • Written by from Edmonton

I've been using this cable for the past 18 months with my 5th Gen iPod Touch and 4th Gen iPad. I have charged both of them daily and have had no problems at at with the iPod and only occasionally have I had to make 2 or 3 attempts at plugging and unplugging the lightning connector to get the iPad to charge.
I have 3 of these cords in different rooms of my home and I really haven't had any real problems with them. I guess I'm just lucky.

    Great Product!

    • Written by from Leamington Spa

Purchased this cable to use with my new iPhone 6 Plus as I wanted to be able to use the phone whilst I am in bed.

The cable is great and does the job its designed for.

I'm a little confused with the reviews saying that the cable is too expensive. If you think about the price of the iOS devices that you use this with, £25.00 is nothing to spend on a cable. If you looking around at cheeper cables, yes you can get ones that cost less but they won't last as long.

And if your one of the people who says they have had to keep buying new ones, then your clearly being too heave hand with the cable.

I'm on my second Apple Lightning cord

    • Written by from Arlington

And it appears that it won't last much longer as well. I never had any problems with the older 30-pin connecter and I'm not treating these newer cords any differently. Can Apple improve this technology or will we soon have a new format sprung upon us?

    Never had a problem

    • Written by from Henderson

Not sure what all the bad review users are doing with their cables but I have every cable since the first Iphone and none of them have had an issue. I have purchased many third party cables and they have all broken or quit working. I think I'll pay a little more for the quality. Just a thought, maybe you should not use your phone whilel charging. The cables were not meant to be attached during use.

    Good enough

    • Written by from Paisley

I never had to change one. I nearly always disconnect grabbing it by the connector, in rare cases I pull the phone off in a hurry. I still have pristine lightning cables from my iPhone 5 and iPad 4.

Besides using it in a construction zone or in an oily auto shop I can't imagine how you one could break it with Norman use every night.

It's up there with turning on an empty microwave or a call to attention by smacking your iPhone screen-first repeatedly off a hardwood table.

Clearly Apple can not deliver a quality cable. I stupidly thought I'd buy from Apple since it would be more reliable. Should have checked the ratings. They tell it all.

    Poor reviews

    • Written by from Leeds

Does someone pay you people for posting these reviews? I have my cable for ages, it works just fine as any other cable would. I guess you have nothing better to do than trying to damage Apple's reputation, or who knows what you guys do with these cables. You know that the purpose of the cable is for connectivity with your Mac or PC and for charging your device?

    • Written by from Dorchester

I've had my iPhone 5 for about 15 or 16 months and this is the 5th apple cord that i'm buying for my phone. And i bought 3 cheaper cords from the dollar store or eBay and those stop working after a few days. So you guys need to step up your game for these cords.

Love the cord, held up just fine for me

    • Written by from Dallas

Spent the extra money on Apple's cord after hearing generic cheap ones (Amazon, etc.) had fried some friend's iPhones. Extra length is very helpful to have next to my bed, and I've had zero issues with cord quality. Not sure if I'm just a lucky one who hasn't had any problems? Either way, very happy with my purchase.

For the price it's not worth it. These cords break in a couple months. The 30pin cords held up WAY better. In a year, I've gone through 5 apple lightning cords. Apple needs to fix this problem... So don't buy it. Not worth the money..

    This breaks way too quickly!

    • Written by from New Braunfels

This the 2nd cable I've purchased in last few months and I've only had the iPad a year!!
The wiring comes disconnected at the point where it plugs into the iPad and then the it cannot charge my tablet. I am NOT happy. At $30 a pop this is getting to darn expensive.
