Reviews for iPad Smart Cover - Leather - (PRODUCT) RED

I like my smart cover. I was a little unsure initially; I have another case as well to prove that... but I found myself liking the minimalism of the smart cover. I did add a slim polycarbonate case for the back, primarily for grip, but it actually has a metal plate so that the smart cover will stay folded back. My other, larger case, I use when I'm taking my iPad somewhere and need some extra padding. I don’t always use it unless I know the iPad is going to get knocked around a bit. The iPad with smart cover just gets slipped in there for extra protection.



The good:

-Multipurpose, works as a cover, stand, non-slip backing (when folded back) and actually DOES clean your screen! (I was skeptical)

-Nice appearance, minimalistic design.

-High-quality materials. The leather is excellent quality and soft.

-Stays clean. I did not have the problem with grime that others seem to have, but I also don't take mine into dirty places without extra protection. It only covers the front; you shouldn't do that anyway.


The not-as-good:

-The magnet holding the smart cover to the edge is not very strong. You certainly shouldn’t pick up the iPad by just the smart cover. However I had it come off my first iPad several times just as I was folding it back. Interestingly enough, my iPad has been replaced with a new 4th generation model, and this problem is nowhere near as bad. The new magnet strength is about 3/4 of the way between where it was, and where I’d like it to be to be “perfect.” In my opinion, for something like this, I should have to expend some effort to get it off, so that it doesn’t fall off accidentally.

The automatiic on-off is useful when the iPad face is covered. Fits perfectly, and when folded acts as a support. A bit expensive, but I still would buy it again! Cool looking!

Fast delivery, great quality and so simple but yet so effective. Only bad aspect is that back of iPad remains exposed.

First of all the love the color of the red that is presented on the cover. It looks very nice with the White iPad. I know it doesn't protect the back, but just buy a back cover that you snap on and your golden. Overall good front case, great color, and love the leather feel.

I've had my red cover since the day it was released and it's only gotten more beautiful with use, developing a light patina. Using it several hours each day, I'm surprised by how new it still looks (albeit with the patina).

The shade of red is a flat, candy apple red and it's better than the slightly darker red Apple has sometimes used on (PRODUCT) RED items in the past.

If you can afford it, I HIGHLY recommend this case!!!

So yesterday I've bought a brand new Red Smart Cover. Later that day i've got a small black spot in the center of the cover. So, after reading a lot of advices, took wet cloth and wiped a little bit. What do you know - now I have a BIG BLACK SPOT!!! This leather quality really awful. You just cannot clean off the real stain! Even using special leather cleaning sprays... That's a pity i've spent 88 bucks here in China and got this poor quality case...

terrible quality leather, i wish I hadn't bought the cover at all, but if you are going to get one it's probably better to buy black. I certainly wish I had ! The red cover looked grubby after one day, marked just from being next to a newspaper in my bag, I've only had this a couple of months but am going to cut my losses and bin it! There is much better out there and cheaper !

The cover works well enough as a cover, but usage results in the leather leaving 4 lines of smears all across the screen from where the creases are in the design. These can be rubbed off with a microfibre cloth, but are harder to remove than the inevitable fingerprints. I don't know if this is just that the one I have has poorly treated leather, but something isn't right that it leaves such deposits. Disappointing

i like the color leather is very nice highly recommended!!!

I don't understand the poor reviews, and the people complain it don't protect the back. If you look at it, it is clearly only meant to protect the front screen and not the back, so the product can't be reviewed based on something it is not suppose to do :-) - i think it is an excellent screen cover, but would never go for the leather version as these gets very "tired" to look at after a short while.
