    Money saver!

    • Written by from Sheridan

I bought the charger last January when I bought my new iMac. It has worked fine until the last time I tried to charge the batteries. Tried again today and still nothing but the orange light on top of the charger. I went and read the reviews and was surprised at how many people were having the same issue.

I also noticed that when I had left the charger in the outlet for several hours that it was hot when I removed it.

In looking it over I discovered the plug was NOT fully locked into place. You'll hear a small "click" when it's properly seated.

Problem solved. I just charged two sets of the batteries.

I have to say I love this little gadget. Has saved me a bunch of money on regular batteries for my Magic Mouse. I'm so glad I figured out what the problem was (as usual, the operator).

Works great for what it is

I initially bought the charger and batteries for use with my Apple Wireless Keyboard, and then forgot I had them and used Li-Ion batteries, which last forever! Unfortunately, though, they're prohibitively expensive, so I dug into the drawer and got these out. I've since switched to total Mac OS, so I'm using them in my Apple keyboard, Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad, all with reasonable success and reliability. I can't speak to those users who've experienced varying degrees of reliability with the charges the batteries hold, but for my part, I've had no problems at all. I've been recharging them on average about once every 40 days with heavy use. And when they wear out, I'll get another set. The way I see it, I've saved quite a bit of money!

I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Charger stops charging fully after a while

    • Written by from Coldbrook

The capacity of the batteries appeared to drop gradually until I was only getting 30 minutes or so from a charge. I tried charging them in my Duracell 15-min rapid NiMH charger and they reported 100% again.

Conclusion: the batteries seem to be okay - the charger stops charging them fully.

Good, but batteries get hard to charge after a while

    • Written by from BENALLA

Generally a good product in my experience, but after 10 or so charges of each pair I can no longer charge any two at once due to the charger just blinking red. Even one at a time I often have to go from one side to the other and/or wait for a day or two. Clearly, these could be more robust.

    Brilliant

I have found the battery charger and batteries flawless. Have been using them for some time now. Batteries hold charge well. So much so that I have given these away as gifts and encouraged others to buy this set. Pretty much essential with a magic mouse and keyboard these days. Apple should include this with the iMac IMO. I have used a lot of rechargeable batteries in the past with mixed results, the batteries included are top quality.

    REALLY bad

    • Written by from FOUR ELMS

OK, this is a GREAT idea in principle..... only thing is, if you need more rechargeable batteries you have to buy the WHOLE thing, yup charger as well. It's MAD. Why!?

Apple clearly "make" the batteries so why not sell them, c'mon Apple this just isn't fair.

Dreadful product - DO NOT buy it

    • Written by from Tai Po

I bought this charger around six months ago - biggest mistake ever. At first I was quite pleased, it worked fine and looked nice. Now, after just a few months, it's dead.

I haven't used it that often, maybe around 10 times. Now the batteries aren't charging, the light isn't working, the entire product is just dead.

This was the most disappointing Apple product purchase I ever made. Given the price tag, I expected Apple quality. Instead, it's just cheap. I should've just gotten a cheap charger from the electronics store instead of this junk.

Save your money! DO NOT buy this product!

    Awful, don't waste your money.

    • Written by from Wesley Chapel

So I have had my 27" iMac with wireless keyboard and mouse for about 6 months. The batteries, when I can actually get them to charge on the charger, only charge up to 81%. That wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that after putting them back into the Magic Mouse, the batteries are only lasting 30mins before the "low battery" notification comes back up and the mouse won't stay connected.

I will be going by the Apple Store this week to try and swap these useless things out. For now, I am using my old Alienware wired mouse. Such a shame.

Quality charger but it's a little silly batteries aren't sold separately

    • Written by from Clifton Hill

I've bought two of these and it's a quality charger. However, it's a bit of a let down that there's no way to buy batteries separately to the charger.

    Stopped working after 18 months

A good looking product that work well for a year and a half and then the charges were lower and lower judging by need for replacement every week. Tossed the batteries and bought new ones but the charging power was still very feeble.

    Apple battery charger

    • Written by from Oakville

It worked great for 2 charges, after that it didn't charge consistantly anymore. In the end, i had to keep regular batteries handy because the rechargables were unreliable. They are a great concept but didn't work well.

    Awesome charger and neat.

    • Written by from Burbank

This product is amazing. I think it is already factory charged so at first, it does not require a six hour standard charge. I really like the minimalistic design and the conveniency it gives. I really recommend this product if you look for a long term investment.

Batteries and charger dead too soon

    • Written by from University Cy

The batteries didn't really last for very many charges, and the charger itself stopped working after a year or so. This is mostly a waste of money in the end. My trusty old camera flash batteries and charger are still going strong after 6 years.

    Poor quality

    • Written by from Pasadena

I bought two sets of these to use with my Apple Magic Trackpad and Wireless Keyboard They seemed great at first, but after not more than a dozen charges for each battery they no longer hold much of a charge. I find I'm having to recharge the batteries after just a couple of hours. I am not too surprised however, since I've found that the quality of Apple products and services have fallen dramatically as they've become more successful. I'm moving to linux and cutting the Apple cord!

    Simple and great

    • Written by from London

This battery charger and batteries are very simple. i like it but i only have one problem with it. i find myself every week or so cycling through the batteries on my track pad. i know its not the track pad because regular batteries last about a month. but they come with 6 batteries and they are rechargeable so its still a good deal.

    Fantastic, little battery charger

    • Written by from Wentzville

The Apple Battery Charger is a great, little device that allows the charging of the six included AA Rechargeable Batteries. It makes a perfect accessory for me, with an Apple Wireless Keyboard and Magic Trackpad. I can always put the charged batteries in when the other two drain. The batteries charge pretty quickly, and best of all, this charger is very small, portable, and has that classic Apple design that looks fantastic.

Less than 2 dozen charges & 2/3 sets gone

    • Written by from BLOOMINGTON

I bought a new MacBook Pro along with several other items through Apple (November 2012) then purchased these batteries and the Apple wireless keyboard locally (also November 2012).

Three sets of batteries and two devices - Magic Mouse & Apple Keyboard, so it was good! I would always have a set charged and ready. Sixteen months later and less than two dozen full charges on any one set and today the 2nd of 3 sets refuses to hold a charge. For $30 I would think these would have lasted much longer...

Great Product - been using for over a year

    • Written by from Franklin

First time I've ever rated a product, and I remember pouring over the reviews on this product before buying it, so I thought I'd contribute.

I'm a heavy user of Apple rechargeable batteries. I use my Apple bluetooth keyboard and magic trackpad for a minimum of 8 hours every day (I'm a web developer and I work from home). This battery charger and the six batteries that come with it are the only batteries I've purchased in well over a year (huge savings right there). I remember there being some complaints that the battery status doesn't show 100% when you put the fully charged batteries in, but that's the norm with rechargeable batteries, and who cares? They're charged! It's not like they die a day later.

In my experience a charge on these batteries lasts a good two weeks (with my heavy usage) and as soon as I get the "Your batteries are getting low" message from either my trackpad or keyboard I grab the charger (holding two of the batteries) off the outlet it's plugged in and do a swap. It takes about 10 seconds (I use one of the prongs on the battery to unscrew the battery compartment).

So if you're on the fence, go ahead and get this product, especially if you have a bluetooth keyboard and trackpad. The six batteries and charger are the perfect pairing with the keyboard and trackpad (or mouse).
