After a lightening storm took out my trusty Cisco router I decided to give the Airport a shot. This was so simple to setup, I did so from my iPad. The internet is fast and it works with all my devices with no problem. I highly recommend this product especially if you want less headache!

    Works awesome to extend extreme

    • Written by from Long Valley

I just purchased one today and set it up to extend my 5ghz network from my extreme. It took 2 minutes to setup and that included the time to find the perfect spot. Before I put this in ,the 5 ghz only went to about 25% of my house and with the express w/extender setup, the 5ghz now covers my entire house which is great for all of our apple products. Highly recommend and super thrilled.

    Excellent Network Extender

    • Written by from Chicago

I am not big on writing product reviews. Other than this one and one for the Airport Time Capsule, I have only written maybe three others. A product has to really impress me for me to make the effort to write a review. Also, I will admit I was an Apple hater until 2011 when I got my first iPhone. Last year I replaced my PC with a Mac Air and I’m fully hooked!

I used the AirPort Express to extend my network. Works like a charm! Only word of caution, ignore the instructions provided in the Support section on this site. Just make sure the Airport Express is with in range of your Extreme, Time Capsule, or Express base station; plug it in; start Airport Utility and click extend network.

    Instant Solution to My Problem

    • Written by from Duvall

I've been having trouble for over a year getting a clear, strong data transfer rate between my Airport Extreme in the office and my Apple TV in the family room. Most days, movies would have to buffer for up to an hour or even longer before they were ready to play.

I tried every quick fix I could think of: relocating the router, a wireless repeater, and even a powerline ethernet adapter. Nothing seemed to help much. I was on the verge of switching to a different router in the hope of getting more broadcast power. I resisted resorting to the Airport Express due to the cost, but none of the cheaper fixes were working.

It only took about a minute to connect it up and about another minute to configure the Express to my network and suddenly my Apple TV finally works the way it's supposed to. Hi-res video is virtually instantaneous. No buffering problems at all.

What made it totally worth it to me was the seamless set up. I can't count the number of hours I've spent troubleshooting my other solutions. But with the Express, my problem was fixed within 10 minutes of opening the box.

Great Range Increase and Easy Setup

    • Written by from Stuart

I was getting frequent drops on my home Comcast WiFi system. After reading the reviews on the AirPort Express I decided to purchase one. I noticed Apple had a refurbished unit for $72 including shipping, so I decided to purchase it. In the meantime I had hoped that the Comcast tech that was scheduled to come and check out my network would arrive after I received the Airport Express. Sure enough, about 30 minutes prior to the tech arriving my Airport Express was delivered by FedEx. I waited until the tech arrived to connect it just to see what his reaction would be. He saw I had purchased the Apple product and said it would really be an improvement to my internet and it would be more stable. Sure enough, the ease of installing it and the performance and range really did improve. You must first have a modem as this is only a router, but I decided to still keep my Comcast modem/router unit until I get another single modem which I presume will be a Motorola Surfboard which he recommended. My main goal at the beginning was to get back up and running again. I recommend this product to any one wishing to improve their internet service.

    What a product

    • Written by from Aarhus N

This is a brilliant product. It was so easy to install, you take it out of the packaging, plug it in, and connect to your DSL. You pick up you iPhone, connect to the network, choose a password and there you go. And what's more, I went from a measly 8mbit output from my old wireless router to taking full advantage of my 40mbit connection, my Apple TV thanks me, and I thank Apple. Simply brilliant!

    Best WIFI router we've owned.

    • Written by from Geneva

Over the years we have used three service providers, ATT (SBC, Ameritech), Comcast and Verizon. We've used various versions of modems with three different router vendors. Without a doubt the Express has been the most reliable of the three. Our last router had deteriorated into at least a once a day reset. Considering a flight of stairs was involved, it became a royal PITA. The only time I have reset problems is when our current provider has system outages. Otherwise, it is stable as a rock even during heavy lightning storms or after power outages.

Some of the complaints on reliability had me concerned but we have now had ours for 17 months without a glitch. It supports 2 iPhones, 1 iPad, 1 MacAir, 1 Playstation, 2 Windows laptops and 2 TVs across three levels, each of which has approximately 900 sqft/level, from a location on the first level and has enough gas to cover the front porch and rear deck as well.

Today, I finally used the AirPlay feature when I moved an old PC speaker system to the lower level, plugged it in and my iPhone was playing music to the connected system immediately, no reconfiguration needed. Apple makes high tech gear that is invisible, not an obstacle and that's why we have continued to add to our  collection!

    Such Excellence

    • Written by

We are IT professionals, and just replaced our 13 (yes 13) year old AirPort with AirPort Express. While we can troubleshoot anything, we really appreciate not having to! This was plug-and-play, and the performance is excellent. And as always, we also appreciate the great design.

And a tribute to our 2001 AirPort. It worked wonderfully for all those years, only now failing. We haven't been able to use the AirPort Utility for years as the old device was not supported, but it did not matter. How many technologies work for 13 years????

    Wireless bridging a breeze

    • Written by from RIVERWOOD

I purchased the AirPort Express yesterday, it arrived today and had it configured for wireless extension in about 2 minutes. There are a lot of comments in the 1 star level about this feature not working well and I was worried. After configuring initially (with base station 3 meters from the AirPort Extreme) I had to play with placement to get the best signal.

Great product and simple to use. Just follow the instructions (or look up YouTube) and be prepared to experiment with positioning to get best signal/connectivity.

Router is super easy to set up. Now after two years of use, it still works perfectly. Great buy for a lower-range "Apple enabled" network (i.e. Airplay, Time Machine, etc.). Highly recommended for Apple users and PC users alike. Management is definitely more streamlined on Apple devices but I use the PC app now and then and it still has all the features and ease of use. Buy it!!

    Better than expected!

Purchased the Airport Express in order to replace an aging Netgear router that began dropping signal. The setup was a breeze on my MBP, less than two minute in total. I keep the modem and router in the basement but even on the second floor of my townhouse download speeds are blazing. My XBox One, which is on the second floor is showing nearly a tripling of speed, showing a download speed of 28 Mbps and an upload of 7 Mbps. The device itself is of solid construction and much smaller than anticipated. I have two gripes though, it only has one LAN output and that I didn't purchase this sooner.

Awesome product to make my old pair of speakers wireless airplay

    • Written by from Pyrmont

I have an creative labs i-trique 3400 which has great quality of sound. I connect them to airport express and it works... it sounds great too...

I still couldn't work it to extend the range of my non Apple router (Technicolor TG587n v3 from Bigpond Telstra). Some people can make it work,,, but i couldn't be bothered to spend more time =)

I'm happy with the product... very small, easy to set up, connect to your existing wifi and meets my need!
If you have a pair of speaker which you want to connect, i'd recommend trying AirPort Express.

    Great Router

    • Written by from Oakville

I have owned many routers throughout the years, a few good ones and most not so good. Lately, I wasn't able to find a router that is relatively fast and doesn't restart frequently. Belkin, TP-Link, Linksys, with factory framework, with open-source framework... all had the same problem: the moment the load is relatively heavy... bammm.... they restart....

That cycle ended when I got my new AirPort Express..... so far it's doing a fantastic job.... especially considering it's located in a different level and is connected to wirelessly to my Apple TV.

    Very very happy! Highly Recommended!
