    A Must Have Accessory

    Written by MB from Cambridge

    Dec 16, 2009

If you love your iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS, then this is a must have accessory for you. A case and this dock are essential for anyone who an iPhone and this dock just does exactly what it says on the tin.

It's nice and small and gives you access to the home button on the iPhone too so you can use it easily while it's plugged in. This is something that is a little bit of a pain on the similar Apple Universal Dock. No real set-up is required. All you have to do is plug the USB cable into the back of the dock and then just sit your iPhone in and away you go! The dock is also just heavy enough to stop it being moved around easily.

Although some people may think £19 is a little pricey, you won't find anything as good elsewhere. And although some think there should be another USB cable included, you really don't need one. Your iPhone comes with one in the box so you can just use that.

Overall a great accessory that is essential for any iPhone owner and will definitely not disappoint!

    Does what it's supposed to

    Written by BK from Brattleboro

If you can get past the blatant overpricing on this item, then it works great. Holds the phone securely when you put it in (with 3 of these docks around the house I haven't experienced any of the "touch it and get disconnected" problems other people report). As others have noted, it doesn't come with a cable. Be sure to buy a cable, too, if you want a cable, too.

    Neat but not practical

    Written by GP from Springfield

    Dec 10, 2009

I bought this dock because i needed a charger at work. i figured it would be handy on my desk. i asked the specialist if it came with a cable... after checking with somebody, he said yes it sure does. i then confirmed that i can just hook it in my computer and that's it, he said yes. i got home and there is no cable... i was gonna take it back but i like it so i'm gonna get another cable today.

the only downside is that i have a thin jelly-like case on the iphone and i have to take it off when i charge it in the dock, or else it doesn't fit... oh well

    In my view

    Written by MD from Dublin

    Dec 2, 2009

In my view, I think that it is only decent. It charges the iPhone well but if you touch it comes out. This is a problem. It could be easily fixed if it had some sort of adjuster adjust how tight it stays on, but unfortunately it doesn't.

The audio is suprisingly good. Not excellent but good. But if you touch the phone to maybe play music or call someone else it comes out like I said earlier. Once again, a problem. The audio is still pretty good and it would work well if you were on a conference call. But if you are a person who deals with many calls then this is the wrong thing for you.

Another thing is that it is not good as an external dock from your computer and it doesn't work well if you are syncing because, what do you know; it comes out AGAIN! But if you do manage to keep it in; then it works fine!

Some people have not read the box which clearly states that is DOES NOT COME WITH A CABLE. So you can't really say it's apple's fault. Yes, they should of included a cable but they didn't. So we have to get on with and use the other cables. But don't bother because if you do, it won't work anway because it will once again, come out!

    Well,
    thats my view anyway.

    For the complainers!

    Written by DL from Antioch

Read what comes in the box before your purchase! There is no cable included, but at this point you should ALREADY have one from your iPhone purchase!

    Pros:
    Looks cool, charges well.

    Cons:
Base isn't sturdy enough, can't use with an iPhone case on.

    What do I say:
Get the universal dock instead of this one. Much better quality, and it comes with a remote.

    RIP-OFF!

    Written by BM from Navarre

    Nov 22, 2009

The only reason I purchased this device was because I needed a new cable. I figured that I could just pay the extra money for a dock setup, instead of buying another power brick.
The worst part about all this was that the packaging was big enough to precisely hold a dock and USB cable. Why the wasted packaging space, and the $37.61 for what might as well been a small pointless paper weight. You can buy the cord itself in the online apple store for $19.95 +tax.

    A worthless smug upgrade!

Why can't we get the connector cord with this?!! It just feels like a rip off.
I bought this dock for home and I use the USB connector at my office.

    Signed Sealed and Delivered!

    Written by MC from Aurora

The reason I wanted this dock was to not have to lay the iPhone on the desk when it's charging. This dock makes the iPhone stand up and look awesome when it's docked. You can make calls and watch video and use the iPhone when it's docked and I like that. You do have to be aware that you need to be careful not to knock the iPhone over this only applies to the home button and volume button. The touch screen works perfect. Watching video and listening to audio is a snap.

Apple did a good job with this dock and if your expectations are realistic you will enjoy this iphone dock. Sure you may need to get a second cord as some reviews have pointed out but this is a choice that was made by the reviewer. I happen to already have two cords and I also have a desktop USB port connection so I can unplug the dock and take it with me.

I would recommend this dock to all iPhone users because it is a top notch product that works as like it's supposed to. The dock also makes your desk look less cluttered.

    Great piece of kit

    Written by RI from lockerbie

I wasn't sure whether I liked this dock or not when i seen it on the website, but when it arrived at my house i fell in love with it. It looks beautiful-as do all apple products-and fits the phone perfectly. One thing i really like about it is the 3.5 mill line out on the back. This is great as you can connect it to almost anything to play music. I bought the bose soundock for my iPod video and my iPhone does play music through it, but won't charge which was a bit of a bummer. This dock sorts the problem i had of not being able to play music and charge at the same time.
    5 stars.
    Well done apple-again!!

    Awesome product!!!

    Written by BT from Seminole

    Oct 3, 2009

I bought this dock about two months ago. I haven't had any problems using it and think it is an amazing product that is worth the money. Although it doesn't come with a USB cable, when you buy an iPhone you get one. Why would you want more than one USB cable? To charge/sync another iPhone/iPod?? If you have another iPhone or iPod you should have gotten another cable when you bought it. I highly recommend this product to anyone who owns an iPhone 3G or 3GS.

    Overpriced, doesn't work well.

    Written by IE from Richmond

It's too light. You can't remove the phone from the dock one-handed, because the it stays stuck to the bottom of the phone.

Also doesn't come with a cable, so add $20 if you need to actually connect it.

prevents iphone from charging while imac is in sleep mode

    Written by TH

    Oct 1, 2009

When your iMac goes into sleep mode this docking station stops your iPhone from charging. This is a major problem if you are hoping to use this doc to charge your iPhone over night as the battery will continue to lose power if your iPhone remains on. The interesting thing is if directly plug your iPhone into the standard USB chord included for free when you purchase your iPhone (detached from the docking station) your iPhone will charge while your iMac goes into sleep mode. That being said the only value of this docking station is the esthetics of having your iPhone stand upright, but in my opinion the value this provides is far less than the problems this product causes related to charging your iPhone.

    Longer Please!!

    Written by SS from Atherton

    Sep 27, 2009

Pretty awesome, but for £19 you should get a USB lead with it - I'd pay £25 if it came with another mains adaptor.

No qualms about it not coming in the box - not everybody wants one, but would be great if Apple produced an extra long usb lead - mine goes behind the bed to charge at night but is just not long enough! have had to put yet another extension lead in to accomodate new shiny iPhone.

Expensive and doesn't work with Incase unless you pull the bottom off

Written by SH from New York

    Aug 28, 2009

I was about to buy this and found out I have to open the bottom part of my Incase case for it to fit. This is a pain and the repeated opening of the case weakens it so it opens too easily. There are after market docks that do more and cost less that will work with an Incased 3G.
I ended up taking my old original iphone dock apart by removing the plastic cover. I must have dropped it since I initially saw a space under the front side of the plastic case. I pryed up the front plastic cover from the thin base enough to clear the bottom thin socket then pulled the base forward from the case so the back sockets cleared and lifted the outer plastic cover off. I was left with an industrial looking but fully functional universal dock. I may get my tools out and cut the front 1/3 off the outer plastic case so I can use the back part of the cover but I am not sure it is worth the work or will look any better. There may be other ways to cover it but the base is fairly well enclosed without the plastic cover. It works just fine and is quite stable and has an output jack. Good luck! Recycle, reuse and save money.
