iPod nano Armband
not good for exercise
Written by LD from HERNDON
Sep 17, 2009
i bought this armband last year and use it almost everyday at the gym and exercising. the velcro barely stays together so it always becomes loose on my arm. plus, the wrap-around strap has stretched out and now it's too big for my arm. i am currently looking for a better armband, one that will last the workout and sweat that goes along with it.

Ruined my nano
Written by SC from Edinburgh
May 7, 2009
I bought this case last summer as I wanted something I could use in the gym for running and weights without having to carry my ipod around in my hand.
The case itself is quite good, access to the controls is fine, and you can see the screen quite easily.
There are a few shortcomings though:
1. The velcro isn't very strong so the band falls of a lot while running on the treadmill or rowing (anything that involves a backward-forward arm movement)
2. This case does not protect the ipod from sweat. My nano gets wet from the case and has now corroded round the edges and at the dock connector. It's a real mess and has started to function erratically.
Basically the case is ok, but there's not much protection against moisture. I'm disappointed that the bad design has destroyed my nano - something I doubt Apple will want to put right!54 of 56 people found this useful

Normal Armband Problems but OK
Written by SH from Kane
Apr 12, 2009
I have had several different brands of arm bands. This armband is a replacement for a well used broken "other brand" armband.
I use a armband 5 days a week and have it on for about 8 hours a day being used while doing basic housekeeping work at a health institution. This armband has about the same velcro adjustment problems as others after lots of use. The plastic cover is about the same for making adjustments to the wheel (sound, on/off, pause, etc..)as another brand I used for a year.(requires some practice) As far as removing the Nano from the case, I only remove it about once a week to charge and it's about the same to me as others I've owned as far as getting in/out of the case. It's a tight fit to keep it from falling out I would assume.
We shall see how it works after a couple months of on/off my arm, but seems normal with the same typical problems I've encountered with at least 3 other brands of armbands over the last 2 years on a 2G & a 3G Nano and a 80Gig Classic which I also have a armband for.42 of 55 people found this useful

good for arm NOT wrist
Written by AJ from Fareham
Mar 3, 2009
I originally bought this as in the description it states "wrap the band around your arm or wrist, and secure it with the adjustable fasteners". Unless you have huge wrists the size of the average arm this wont work as it is limited to how small it can fasten.
That said it is great on the upper arm or just below the elbow. I think a new description should be written really as yes you can wear it on your wrist - but it will be loose and rattle about.13 of 15 people found this useful

Velcro is insufficient
Written by BF from San Antonio
Feb 19, 2009
This armband would be great for me, but after several uses the velcro became very difficult to secure. The spots of velcro are just not enough, it needs long strips. Not only would that allow better size adjustment, it would provide greater contact between the two sides allowing it to remain attached securely. As is, it tends to fall off if I try to keep the sizing a little snug, which I prefer.

ipod nano 3rd Generation Apple armband
Written by AC from Woking
Feb 15, 2009
WARNING!!! do not use the Apple armband, especially turned in the upside down position. I only used my ipod at the gym for periods of 2/2.5 hours a day, 5 days a week. That generates a lot of sweat, which destroyed my ipod after 9 months. It corroded the casing, but more importantly caused internal water damage, which is outside the warranty. Apple were good by giving me a £21 discount to buy a new one, however, the 4th gen. ipod is not compatible with the old mains and car charger adapters or docking stations, so the discount was lost in buying new ones. Apple just changed the spec. so be WARNED!!!

I couldn't wait for the armband to come out; it was driving me crazy. When I bought and used it, I experienced scratches in my ipod also, trouble adjusting the sound and trying to get my ipod in and out of the holder. I can't believe Apple put out such a poor quality product; and, where is a holder with a clip???? I strongly suggest people not buy this armband. Sorry Apple but this item is rotten.

Nano Band w/ Clip??
Written by SM
Jan 18, 2009
Please make a clip for the nano that will enable a person to attach the unit to a waistband. I purchased an arm band for my Nano and not only did I have to modify it t where it will fit my arm, the headphone cord just flops around. With a waist clip you can run the cord down your shirt and it is out of your way.

Armband ruined my iPod
Written by PA
Jan 12, 2009
I run 3 times a week and after 3 months of using the armband rust spots started to develop on my iPod and after 5 months the screen no longer worked. Despite Apple advertising the armband for running, it does not work and will ruin your iPod - sweat, metal and electronics simply do not mix. Of course my iPod was 13 months old when the screen failed - one month outside the warranty period! So if you run, do not bother with an armband no matter what Apple say in their advertising - buy an iPod shuffle instead as it clips on to your shorts (which is much more comfortable than an armband) and does not trap sweat so will not rust.

Scratched My iPod
Written by SS from Hermosa Beach
Jan 5, 2009
This thing scratched up the front face of my beautiful baby (iPod nano 3rd gen). It put tiny little tick marks on the part above the screen; it also put a tiny scratch mark on the top right of my screen. Then at the bottom right and left it CHIPPED the corners! I used this for jogging, and I NEVER dropped this thing. Velcro loses its stickiness too. Finally, I had to buy a hard plastic cover for my iPod, and now I SHOOOVE that thing into the arm band (I ended up cutting up the armband so the iPod could shove all the way through)

There Are Better Options Out There
Written by LH from Bothell
Aug 29, 2008
Apple has been pushing the Ipod Armband for most of its Ipod products for years and I have been underwhelmed by this product (I owned three sets). Although it's sleek, small and lightweight, I find that it has TWO MAJOR flaws. One, the velcro is not one continuous strip. That means, you have to pick one velcro patch over another (similar to selecting a hole in a belt). Invariably, you will end up with a fit that is too tight or too loose. Second, the velcro patch will loose its "stickiness" factor over time (from over using). I have experienced numerous incidents where my Ipod came loose as a result of no.2. My advice: skip this product and find other alternatives.

PI$$ poor product!!!!!!
Written by KM from Twin Mountain
Aug 23, 2008
I bought this band when I bought my Nano excited that I would be able to lift weights and use the stepper/ellipticals with tunes. What a disappointment! For all the same reasons previously mentioned regarding the hook and loop fasteners, poor adjustment, inability to get clean more funtionality/control over the Nano and here my friends is the kicker--it retains and transfers enough moisture/sweat after using it that it corroded my Nano's insides in less than ten months use!!! My Nano is a loss. $199.00 and all the time organizing the playlists on that thing. If you use this arm band TAKE THE NANO OUT IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR WORK OUT OR IT WILL CORRODE!!!! It may still allow enough moisture to get to the Nano over time that you may lose it anyway. I would not buy this arm band again.

Pain in the a_ _
Written by JC from colorado springs
Aug 19, 2008
obviously this thing wasn't under any kind of testing before its release. the velcro is horrible, i spend more time fixing the darn thing while in the gym then actually doing my workout. it has been three months of struggle with the stupid thing. it gets dirty and won't come clean. the thick plastic over the front of it is very thick and can cause frustration. it's always sliding down my arm, no matter how much it's tightned, because the velcro doesn't work. And, oh yeah....the end of the band catches on everything and the velcro comes undone. i give this product ZERO STARS!!! i would rather use duct tape, but it makes me chafe.

Ok, but could be improved
Written by JM from Laval
Aug 19, 2008
I bought the white one 1 year ago and it is showing it's age. Impossible to clean, it doesn't look neat. As another reviewer mentionned, the velcro tabs are widely spaced so if your arm circumference falls between velcro tabs, it won't fit right. So happens my arm circumference doesn't fit exactly on a tab, so I have to constantly readjust. What is nice is that you can wear the nike+ reader on it, which is the only arm band on the market that lets you wear both with or without it. However, i've discovered that I prefer to run with my ipod in a side pocket now as I don't have to think about constantly readjusting an arm band.

Good if you don't lift weights
Written by TK from Maple Grove
Aug 8, 2008
I bought this armband when I purchased my nano a few months ago under the belief that it would fit my arm. Sure no problem, right? Wrong! If you do any type of lifting where your arm is over 18" good luck getting this thing to fit. It also fits very awkwardly on your arm while left to begin with either putting the headphone jack into your elbow or having the cord fall over the front of the face if you don't put it under your shirt. Very poor design in my opinion.

Worth buying,defo!
Written by BN from Mullingar
Aug 8, 2008
I bought this armband at Christmas as it was the only armband on the site for the new nano.I was really impressed!I use it almost every day and so far no problems at all!I dont think it will ever break, there's no sweat or moisture problems when gyming-even if I run for an hour it stays put and isnt itchy or anything, and it's so light, you van't even feel it!It's also really easy to adjust the song and volume etc when wearing it and the screen is v.clear!
The only problems would be that sometimes if I'm going for a stroll down town i'd prefer to have it on my wrist but it won't adjust to there because the strap is too long.It always has to be at my elbow or higher. Also I'm going to buy the nike+ sensor but i'm not sure if it will fit in it???
Overall, very pleased and definitely worth buying!!!37 of 45 people found this useful

iPod nano Armband
Works pretty well
Written by LZ from Baton Rouge
Aug 6, 2008
Before buying this product i neglected to read the reviews, but while waiting for the shipment, I decided to read the responses. Most of what I read was negative feedback, so before I even received the armband I was ready to return it. Upon arrival I decided that I should just try it out, and guess what, it works just fine. I have thin arms so having it sit above my biceps while running is quite near impossible, but I do find it comfortable to sit just above my elbow. As for the control wheel, it's about as easy or difficult as with any other armband. It obviously isn't perfect, but it does what it's supposed to. The cover that holds the actual iPod is protective enough that no sweat can penetrate and ruin the ipod. So, all in all I would have to say that this is a pretty good armband and, I am pleased with this purchase.

So-so
Written by TT from Dartmouth
Aug 6, 2008
It does what it is supposed to do - it gives you the means for wearing your nano on your arm. But:
1) It shows the dirt
2) The velcro tabs are very small and spaced widely apart; thus, if you happen to have an arm that it exactly fits, you'll be fine; if you fall in between the velcro tabs, you will constantly be having to readjust.
3) When running, there is a flappy bit at the end of the fold-over enclosure that will have a tendency to catch during an armswing and come undone.
4) You can tighten it up to prevent slippage etc but then this will tend to create a rash.
It works for lack of anything better. But it's not a great armband.56 of 62 people found this useful
