    Linking Nike Sensor to iPhone

I spent several hours trying to get my brand new sensor to link to my iPhone. I kept getting the message to "walk around to activate the sensor". Finally I found a trouble shooting page on Nike Plus website with information that helped me solve the problem. USING THE TIP OF A PEN, PUSH THE SMALL BUTTON ON THE BACK OF THE SENSOR SEVERAL TIMES TO WAKE THE SENSOR UP. When the small button on the back of the sensor is PUSHED and HELD , it puts the sensor to sleep. When I performed this action, the sensor linked with my iPhone right away and seems to be working perfectly. I don't know why it was so hard to find this information on the website. So many people seem to be having this problem...

I bought a couple of this item and love to use them installed in our shoes, mine and my wife's.

In such hot weather like Singapore, it is usually reluctant to spare time to go out for jogging. But after bought this, I love to do it now.

It's great product able to be found out in the market as well as iPhone and Macbook !

Yes, the nike website is not great, although its improved recently. But that's simply irrelevant to the simplicity of this product which works perfectly, always.
And for the battery issue, my first one has just died, 3.5 years and 5000 kms after first using it. Superb.

I have been using the sensor for over a year and it works great. I originally had it in my Nike shoe but when I got new shoes I didnt want to be limited to just the NIke Plus shoes. So I found online that if you just put a peice of velcro on the back of the sensor and put it under the laces in between the laces and the tongue of your shoe as close to your toes possibel (this is where your foot bends on the top) that it pretty accurate. That way you can easily move it from shoe to shoe.

I have just purchased my third sensor, the first 2 gave me approx 1500 miles each before they started to slow down. I have used them with my iPod nano, iPhone 3gs and 4s with only an occasional crash. I would have never run so much without it, combined with the NikeRunning it is so motivating :)

I am using the sensor during one year. It' an excellent product to keep motivated...I regret that my new ipod touch don't linkk with the polar strap to track the hearth activity. How Ipod nano does...I don't know if Ipod and polar goes to do something with that to give us that little bonus. Anyways...I use Adidas shoes with a cavity to insert the sensor. The running brand from Adidas comes with the cavity....before I used a pouch with belcro in a Sketchers shoes. That worked too. For this summer I upgrade my hardware..

    Thanks,

    Hugo A.

I have the Nike shoes with the sensor at the bottom of them but for some reason on the app it keeps telling me to walk around to activate it I don't know what to do or what I can do to fix the problem

The product is great! It has about 2 months of battery max. if you use it for every day's exercise. Just make sure you get the right shoe. I got a pair that had the Nike Logo on the bottom, but Nike + iPod Sensor requires a pair of Nike shoes with a
Nike+ logo on the bottom of the shoe.

I have had the Nike + system for years. I can tell you that the first few weeks of getting everything to work right was a bit of a hassle. I don't understand why people are not getting the appropriate battery life out of the sensor. I run about 12 miles a week and my sensors (I'm on my 4th one) last at least 8 months or more. Ignore the comments about inaccuracies in distance. It's not perfect 100% of the time, but it's about 90% accurate. The last I checked, that was pretty decent. You do have to take the time to use the product right and calibrate the sensors.

Far more accurate than I anticipated

    • Written by from Hong Kong

At first I thought this sensor would be rendered obsolete with the introduction of Nike+ GPS iPhone app. It turned out this sensor was far more accurate on measuring running distance compared with the app using GPS tracking. Thanks to this little sensor I didn't overestimate my pace when I was training hard for one upcoming race.

Please be aware that if you don't know how to work with this sensor, it doen't mean that it doesn't work.

I bought one of it and after I calibrate it, it works very well. but before calibration I was so mad, cos I ran like 1 km but it says 800 m. then I learned I should calibrate the device.

In other hand, your iphone must run normally. some of you have hardware or software problem with your iphone. so it's better to verify everything in your iphone before judge this sensor.

    I highly recommend Nike+ipod sensor.

its a very good device, although I'm not very sure if its very accurate, but when doing distance and time it gets you motivated, specially when it keeps telling you how many calories you have burned! its works with the iPod 3rd generation and the forth one just fine. the battery life has given no problem at all, and i've had it almost a year!

To connect to your iPod u gotta be having it in your shoe and walking around when the voice tells you to do so in the nike app.

First off don't be afraid with all the battery reviews. I have used/ran with this same sensor for 473 miles in a little over a year! So with some saying it lasted a month or 2?? I have no idea what they are doing wrong. It just really seems that the individuals putting bad reviews don't sound very tech savvy. -- Will you need to relink the sensor from time to time?? YES, if it's not performing to your standards (don't forget to recalibrate it).-- Will you lose data with switching phones?? NO. I've gone through a 3GS, iPhone 4 and now iPhone 4S and still tracking every single run I do. I absolutely love this product!!

I use it with my iphone nike app. I really wanted to start running and actually being able to hear in my headphones while listening to music how fast/far I was going pushed me to keep going. This is made for the Nike free shoes and they are super comfy. Thanks!
