    Epson And Apple Fan

    • Written by from McKinney

I have been using Apple products and Epson Printers together for over 10 years and have always love the epson quality. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE EPSONs. I have had this about 6 mos and the heads need constant cleaning and it burns through ink like no other printer I have ever seen. I would advise against this and look at another epson option.

Epson piece of junk. Don't bother buying. Ended up going with an HP. At least their printers work.

I thought I was buying a good product to use to print cd labels for church. What a waste! The cd tray rarely closes so that I can use it to print the labels. A true waste of church funds.

    Epson XP-600

    • Written by from Nebo

POS! 6 months, two packs of paper and two complete sets of ink cartridges. Sent back to Epson once for broken paper feed. Epson returned a new printer with empty ink cartridges. There is not a black and white print option. If ink level is too low in color cartridge you can't print at all!
The package deal to sell an Epson printer must have been contracted post Jobs! This printer is a bad decision and should not be setting beside my Mac.

A TRUE PIECE OF MECHANICAL JUNK!!!!

    • Written by from Auckland

I bought a piece of absolute rubbish! I can't see how Apple can possibly endorse this piece of junk on their website. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. IF YOU DO, YOU CAN EXPECT TO BE OUT OF POCKET IN LESS THAN A DAY!

    BEWARE

    • Written by from ALFRED STATION

This only gets a star at all because it CAN do outstanding printing when new. Consider it a disposable printer. It makes stunning photos while it is new and happy, and I loved it and praised it. It was perfect. But one awful day you probably will spend a hundred dollars feeding the monster ink to clean its dainty heads and still have a stubborn and non-functional machine refusing to accept new cartridges (and thereby rendering them useless), until you realize you have been had. Ever the optimist, I went through 3, one a rebuilt replacement. When that went ugly, I wasted no more money on ink, it all went to the recycler. Squashing it up in a compactor would have made me feel better about it, but, you know... I bought a cheap Canon that gives indifferent results but it produces when I hit the button.

Really the Most Awful Printer Ever!

    • Written by from Silver Spring

This is my first ever review but this printer is so bad that I had to comment. I've had it 6 months and use it occasionally. It burns through ink with all that head cleaning. Talk about expense!

That was bad enough, but then it just quit printing black. Just quit mid document. Nothing works. I have wasted time, paper, and money on the endless ink cartridges trying to get it to print one simple page of text. No luck. Sadly, I can't even print this review!

I have no interest trying to get his piece of junk or it's replacement working. Sometimes you just get robbed, and this is one of those times. I'm out over $200 when you cost out the endless ink. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON'T BUY THIS PRINTER.

I really hope the the people who are responsible for this sorry little machine at Epson read this review. I will NEVER buy another Epson based on this one miserable experience.

    Frustratingly bad

    • Written by from West Kensington

Nightmare to set up. No end of wireless issues. Print heads need constant cleaning. Moment I've finished the ink spares I have it goes in the bin and and if this is typical of Epson products I aim to avoid them in the future. Just an awful printer. On the rare occasion that it does work flawlessly, the photos on photo paper are of a good quality.

    A nightmare

    • Written by from New York

Epson XP-800 printer is like a nightmare. I have sent the printer back twice because of the same black ink problems stated in all the other messages. What's with this? The second printer did the same thing--after 12 prints with new ink, it said the black is out and now it's barely printing. What a piece of junk. With all the ink I'm buying at $60-$80 for the cartridges, I would be better off throwing it out and buying a new (Canon?) printer.

Black printing didn't work after two replacements

    • Written by from San Antonio

Terribly frustrating printer. Setup easy, but stopped printing black in a few days. Epson made us go through endless tests/checks (exactly what I did from the manual) only to have us ship it back for a replacement. That one started doing the same thing within a few days. Recommend avoiding this printer at all costs!

When this printer worked, I would have given it four + stars... BUT...

    • Written by from CHARLTON

So this printer did a marvelous job on photos. It was a breeze to set up, and the colors were crisp and 3D looking when I printed photos on the epson photo paper. Out of the blue, last week, the black ink stopped working, just as many reviewers have noted.

I did all of the above. Replaced the ink cartridge, nozzle tests, cleaning the print heads, etc. We called Epson, they sent a replacement.... the new one failed to work right out of the box.

Epson: You have a serious design and or hardware problem here. Please work on this before you tell my husband over the phone that we 'must have put in an old cartridge'.

    Don't waste your money!

    • Written by from Houston

This printer has presented no end of problems. Biggest one is keeping it linked to the WiFi - it won't stay connected even thought the lights are on. It's a pain to get it to stay connected - repeated directions over and over, it connects and then minutes later it's not connected! Don't wast your money - if you want WiFi feature, get something else. Besides, it should be a Bluetooth connection. Ink cartridges are also a huge waste of money - if they work at all. It's gong to Salvation Army tomorrow - at least I can claim a little tax deduction on this piece of junk.

    rejects genuine epson print cartridges

    • Written by from New York

The Epson XP-600 printer is 30% a good printer, which is 70% less than what I need. When everything is working properly, print quality is fair. The print output tray if not pulled out, stops any prints from happening, which would be fine, except to load new paperer change the ink, you have to close the tray. The result is half the time you go to printer to pick up your prints and there is an error message that you need to open the tray. Certainly not the end of the world, if not really annoying when you are working to be waiting on your printer to work. If you ask me, by looking at the output tray, I think the plan was to have it open automatically, but for what ever reason, decided to cancel that option last minute, instead of canceling the CD printer. I mean who is printing CD these days? Is Epson so far removed from current trends and technology?

There are several other design problems, like the paper tray, which instead of being inside the printer, sits on the surface the printer is on, which if you are on a perfectly flat surface probably works well, but I use metal wire shelves, so I have to pick up the printer to add paper. The genuine Epson ink cartridges often are not recognized by the printer. If the printer sits far any amount of time unused, you have to clean the heads, which still often does not work.

All these poor design flaws add up to a pretty bad printer. I hope Epson does not make a habit of such poor crapsmenship. I have held them in high regard for art printing in the past, but those days may be over.

    No black ink!

    • Written by from El Cajon

I bought this bundled with my laptop so I'd have Air Print functionality. I didn't get around to setting it up for a couple of months, since my other printer was still working.

When that printer gave an error, I pulled this one out of the box and there was no black ink on prints. Did all of the suggested cleanings, etc. still none. LOTS of reviews online that this is a common occurrence.

Well past the return timeframe, and no warranty coverage that I can find on Epson's website. It's a $150 mistake. Going to go back to a Brother printer, my previous one lasted for over 6 years.

    TERRIBLE

    • Written by from Dumfries

Worst printer ever. I was issued a new one at work and it did work for about 6 weeks and about 2 complete ink cartridge replacements. Then, it would no longer print blacks without setting the quality to best and it goes through black ink like there's no tomorrow when it used to last a very long time. Bottom line - Printer is terrible if you need to print things more than once. I had a Canon MP620 before this that lasted several years. I'm going to dig it out of the attic and switch back. How foolish of me to think a new printer from Epson would somehow outperform a tired but tried and true Canon.

New but still can't get a full printed page or picture

    • Written by from Martinez

Don't bother buying this printer; it is BAD!! I still have not been able to print out anything decent looking. I purchased it because it was the only AirPrint my local Apple store sold, and it had good reviews from PC magazine. The poor reviews on Amazon were mainly about replacing print cartridges too often., which I found to be a problem with most brands when reading the reviews

When I first got the the printer, I printed a color page. It had red vertical streaks every 1 inch or so. I cleaned the print heads - problem remained. Then I tried to print out a all black text page - more than 2/3 of the text did not appear on the page.

I have checked and cleaned the print heads 7 times and still cannot get a full page of text. I also when through alignments twice. After the first 5 head cleanings, the nozzle check was looking a lot better so I did an alignment, followed by another alignment check and then a second alignment. I then immediately performed another nozzle check. It was bad again. Most of the ink in the cartridges is gone after l doing all this and I still have no decent printouts from this Epson.

Wish I had read these Apple reviews before I purchased this. If I print out a text page with some colored text, the colored text appears, but none of the black. The black is a problem as many other reviewers have said.

I cannot find any solutions to this problem on the web.

My problem is, I bought the printer a while ago, didn't install it for a few weeks, then tried it and it was a problem, and then I went out of town for a long time, but less than the 6 weeks the cartridges seem to be good for when not in use. Now, that I am back home, I doubt if the Apple Store will take this back, but I am going to try. Apple needs to stop selling this subpar printer.
