    Handy

    • Written by from salford

Really impressed by this simple piece of kit. Save me having to pace my track pad on a hard service to work it easily.

Down sides. Ridiculous amount of packaging for such a small item. Also? By the time you add p&p on to the cost is it really worth £30? Bit of a premium price for what it actually is.

    good product. kind of overpriced

    • Written by from Shamong

This product does exactly what it states and does it very well. I am very happy with the product as it functions exactly as expected. However, i should have paid more attention to the other reviews. It was a little disappointing to discover that this 30 dollar product is a fairly cheap piece of plastic.

    Worth Getting

    • Written by from Burntwood

This morning I have just received my Twelve South MagicWand and I must say that I am very pleased with it. It is very durable and the simple idea of keeping your Keyboard and Track Pad together is fantastic. The fit together is very easy and tidy and makes having both together easy. Also, been as I have this on my lap it is now wider so that it fits on my lap better than just the small keyboard when it was on its own.

There are a few things to note though although they are small and should not put you off to be honest but I will mention them either way...
Firstly, and maybe this is just me not being clever at what I am doing, but the 'H Bar' was very difficult to put in and I had to spend some time fitting it in and although I don't get through my batteries a lot, when changing them, this may be an awkward experience every time.
Secondly, The keyboard now is off to the right (or left, if your right handed), though there is nothing you or the company can do about this, you may take a while getting used to laying your arms over a bit more, but you can get used to this!!
And lastly, and this is only if you use this on your lap, you have no way of using the clic button on the Track Pad, simply because you need a hard surface, i.e. desk, to utilise the clic method. However, over the years Apple have integrated ways for you to not have to use a clic, such as 'three finger' scrolling to resize the window or mover a window around. I am sure there is a way to do other things without using the clic, over time I have found ways not to use it at all.

Please don't let what I said above put you off because they are in my opinion very very small things, but I wanted to mention them to give a fair review. Otherwise, this product is amazing, like others said, it is very very durable, even if it's plastic, it's a simple concept to utilise the two devices together and (Simplifies life). (Maybe they should use that as their motto).

    Smart.

While I would've liked better build quality (the plastic spacer between the trackpad and keyboard falls out if you don't set it up just right), this is how the keyboard and trackpad should've been designed to begin with. You'll need to set tap-to-click if you want to use it on your lap.

    Sleek and simple to install

    Apple Styling
    Looks sleeker with out T-Bar

    Cons

    Cheap plastic, a little disapointed

    • Written by from Neshanic Station

Maybe I didn't read the description well enough, but I really wasn't expecting this to be plastic. Its painted like aluminum, but its still adds a cheap feel to my all aluminum peripherals. Twelve South usually makes some really cool stuff... but they always seem to cheap out on the details... for the high cost, this was definitely a huge disappointment.

cheap plastic, definitely not worth $30

    • Written by from Surrey

from the photos, description & price I believed that this product was made from aluminum and was of the same quality as any apple product. I was shocked to find that the product was nothing more than a cheap piece of plastic. this product serves its purpose well but it is quite simply way, way, WAY overpriced. I am very dissatisfied with this purchase.
I should have read the reviews before purchasing. apparently I'm not the only one with the same complaint.

    Big disappointment

    • Written by from TORONTO

    1. Grossly overpriced for a hunk of plastic.

    2. More importantly, causes trackpad to behave oddly. The left click didn't "feel" the same as it did before (or the same as a right click), because the track pad is held in a slightly fixed position (I think it hovers a tenth of a millimetre over the desk surface). Doesn't sound like enough to make a diff, but it does; the feel is off and it makes you stumble.

    3. Trackpad does not work so well when it's THAT close to the keyboard; every time you use the cursor keys, unless you are VERY carefull, a stray finger brushes ever slightly against the trackpad, and--disaster reigns.

Will be returning mine after two disappointing days.

    Very good BUT be aware.......

    • Written by from ANDOVER

If you use the Mobee Magic Numpad with your Trackpad, the stick on surface makes it almost impossible to fit the supplied 'bar' between the keyboard and Trackpad as it seems to be perfectly fitted to the 'bare metal' of the keyboard and Trackpad.

You could force it into position but for me it either started to lift the stick on or seemed to cause a permanent mouse press on the Trackpad.

However, as I have no intention of using the keyboard free hand and just wanted something to stop the trackpad and keyboard going off in separate directions, then it works fine without this bar connected and also makes it easier to remove the devices when battery changes are required.

Overall I am very happy with the MagicWand.

    Must get!

I love this! Instead of having to move around 3 things, it's only 2. Keyboard with trackpad and my mouse. Definitely should be added to the desktop setup.

    Magic Wand - Almost

    • Written by from New York

Great idea and almost great execution. I agree with some of the reviewers - the metal dock should be a higher quality given the price but I bought it for one reason - to hold the Keyboard and Track Pad together - until Apple offers an integrated wireless keyboard and trackpad - like on my AirBook. The problem - the H-Bar does NOT fit easily and it is very difficult to remove which is necessary when you replace the batteries. I watched the video on Twelve South's website which shows the H-Bar smoothly sliding into place and being removed smoothly - NO WAY. I asked Twelve South to send me a replacement H-Bar on the premise that mine is defective. We'll see what happens. If I get satisfaction, I will update this review.

Room for improvements on the H-Beam to hold both keyboard and trackpad firmly. Overall, i am satisfy with it.

    Let down

    • Written by from Eudunda

This silver plastic track holds the wireless keypad and magic trackpad together in one unit that looks as though it could have been made by Apple.
It's a really neat bit of kit.
Only problem is that having now used it for some months its causing the right click button on the trackpad to stick. Take the Magic Wand off and all works with no problems.
    My advice - don't bother!!

    Perfect

    • Written by from Coventry

I spotted this today in an Apple Premium Reseller store and grabbed the last one they had.

I've had the trackpad since launch and only just moved to the wireless keyboard. Using the two devices separately has always been a bind especially when changing my seated position.

This fixes that problem vey simply.

It's a bit expensive for a piece of plastic, but it has to be plastic so as not to block the Bluetooth signals.

Both devices snap into it positively and there are a couple of separators that slot in between the two devices to stop them grinding together. These grip the edges of the keyboard and trackpad tightly and won't fall out.

It has four long rubber feet which grip the desk as good as the original feet which are now hidden.

I thought it might have been a bit flimsy but the keyboard and trackpad feel like one solid unit now.

    Love it.

    Almost apple grade great product!

    • Written by from Vancouver

I was quite discouraged by some of the negative comments initially. But after a few day having my two hands busy all the time dealing both the keyboard and touchpad, I decided to try it out.

Yes, it is plastic and a bit over priced. But it works. Installation is nice and easy, takes me 45 seconds to put them together, sizing is perfect, aligned with both ends perfectly. if I have to complain, the soft T-pad should be coloured in silver (same as the H beam) so it could be blended in, right now it is light grey and quite visible.

    Anyway, I am very pleased.

Left-handers beware - STOPS TRACKPAD WORKING

    • Written by from Glen Iris

Well, it is a nifty little tube of plastic that joins your trackpad to your keyboard... but if you are joining your trackpad on the left hand side of the keyboard, it keeps turning the trackpad off - maybe because the pad's on/off button is on the right, and inside the magic wand.
Very disappointing so far after 25 minutes of fiddling with it. Wish I handn't bothered now.

    Sad waste of $30

    • Written by from Plymouth

I love the idea of this product. I was happy to spend the money to get it. I was quickly made unhappy when I realized how poorly thought out this really is. The "H-Bar" is so incorrectly sized that I am unable to get it to fit between the trackpad and the keyboard. While trying to push it into position, it left a noticeable rub mark on the keyboard and ended up slightly cracking the surface of the trackpad. (That's how much stress it put on the trackpad.) I have given up on using the stabilizer piece because it simply does not fit around the edge of either device which completely negates the lap-use angle of buying this product. Very disappointed. Save your money, please.

    Great Product

This product is great! I really can't imagine not having it...it's sturdy and does what is supposed to do!

It might sound a little pricey for a piece of plastic but it's really worth it!

    cutting edge

    • Written by from 용인시

watch out! Edge of the product is very sharp. while sliding it to put together the edge of magic wand has cut off rubber foot a little. keyboard and trackpad is well aligned on desk, but not at all when it is lifted in air. It is shiped with h-beam to hold lower part together but it hinders pressing arrow keys.

    Just a Piece of Plastic

    • Written by from Toronto

While the product functions, it's ridiculously priced for a track of plastic. For the cost I was expecting a piece of aluminium. Disappointed.
