I actually prefer the new in-ear phones over these but you can't beat the ease and comfort of the around ear phones. Great overall sound balance you would expect from Bose. These are much higher build quality than the original ones. Also a removable cord is great!

I must say the previous headphones I've heard from BOSE have been a somewhat love/hate relationship. The OE's are comfortable but tend to boom with over emphasized bass. The original AE's had durability problems. The IE's are somewhat muddy. And the beat goes on...

The funny thing about BOSE is they never seem follow their signature sound though every product. These headphones sound like someone else at BOSE designed them. Remember that ultra warm sound we recognise as BOSE? It's no longer. These headphones can be described as clinical sounding....

I do feel, however, that the BOSE AE2 headphones are by far the most accurate, detailed and clear headphones BOSE has ever made. They sound clear, dynamic, clean and produce an excellent tonal balance. The spaciousness is second-to-none.

It's not without it's problems though, but I wouldn't let them put you off.

First off, they do lack bass for some 'modern' music. I don't expect you'll find people enjoying 'Boom, Boom, Pow' on these. They are more suited towards Jazz, Classical and Acoustic.

Secondly, why are the headphone jacks not gold plated at this price point? Either BOSE has found a better metal than gold (or found the improvements of Gold Plating marginal) then why not say that? Or was it a cost cutting measure? Who knows.

The design, although nice - is as not premium as you would expect from a company selling expensive premium items. The BOSE logo is now just printed on, rather than being moulded or a small metallic badge.

At lower volumes these headphones are very accurate, with little distortion. The problems start as you turn them up (and I've never heard this in a BOSE headphone before) they start to distort, and distort quite badly. I'm guessing the drivers are more efficient and less powerful than their previous iterations. The OE's seem louder to me, but that could just be the bass response.

I personally think if you are open to an accurate, detailed, open and clear sound - and you listen to various genres of music then have a go.. but remember they are not for 'bass-heads'.

No listed frequency response? Enough said.

If you wear glasses, these are not for you. Any lift of the ear cup off your head results in seriously degraded sound quality.

Although these sound fairly balanced, when compared to headphones of a similar price they can sound flat and uninspiring. While they sound "good," with crisp highs, the midtones are compressed and nothing really stands out.

Always be weary of headphones that don't list a frequency response range. Anywhere. Even on the Bose site.

For the money, you can do better. Try a pair of Sennheiser phones.

First off, these are definitely one of the comfiest headphones i have ever worn. I can wear these for hours without any fatigue of the ears. The highs are crisp and the bass is there but definitely not over emphasized. I am a car audio fanatic and by listening to these i can hear that there is a bit of mids lacking. My biggest complaint, like another reviewer on here, is that when i listen to any more bassy music at higher volumes, i do notice a bit of distortion. This can be eliminated by taking of the equalizer on an ipod, but then there is almost no bass at all. I am going ahead and spending the extra $150 ordering the B&W P5's and see how those are, but overall i would say these are pretty good.

Up till recently I was not a fan of over ear head sets. I tried my father's ae2's and was blown away by the quality and clarity. I tried a variety of different types of music from classical to heavy bass dance music. Quite simply these are amazing. They are not cheap but luckily i have been given a set as a birthday gift from family members.

It is very comfortable and can stay on your ears for hours. I've owned this headset for about 3 months now, and can honestly say its worth the money. After testing all the headsets in store, the bose quality on this particular headset was the best, regardless of price.

out of the few of the headphones i've tried out - beats studios, p5 b&w and these; you can wear these for hours without fatigue. You''re ear never touches any material - so all you feel is the leather ear cups and the headband, and if you adjust it properly you won't notice the latter. Got to mention that the sound isn't as nice as the p5's in terms of quality of highs and mids, but for the comfort factor and price it's a good option.

On the site they said it fits perfectly and that you forget that you have a headphone on your head.
    They were right.

Yes, Bose products are often viewed as "over price" but the premium that you are paying goes towards the little things that makes this an absolutely amazing pair of headphones.

Sound quality is excellent, in a quiet area, not much different from the QC15 which is twice the price.

Comfort - this is where this product absolutely shines... they are so comfortable!! I wear specs a lot and to me, comfort is a necessity. Sure I can go for the other brands out there like Sennheiser, Sony, Audio-Technica, Denon, Dr Dre's etc etc... but these are by far THE MOST comfortable headphones out of them all... Simply amazing...

I was in the store last week and was given this pair when I asked for the $179 pair not realizing that they gave me the AE instead of the OE. Now I still decided to give them a try even though they had some bad reviews. Horrible!!! My JBL headphones so much better, if only they were comfy for extended lengths of time. The only music that sounded good was classical then again my JBL's sounded way better. I listen to everything from rock, hip hop, classical, house, Latin. Do yourself a favor order the Bose OE!
