    Not Good for Outside Work

I've had four of these fail now. By reading previous reviews, it would appear that they do not work well when either working out or doing work out-of-doors.

They work great prior to failing. Easy to pair, good sound, easy controls. But when they fail, they fail completely. I was listening to the latest pair and they just stopped. No warning or anything. Just silence. And no control or anything after that.

The third pair, strangely enough, were failed when I took them out of my desk drawer to use them this morning. Wouldn't turn on or indicate that they were charging. Thought that I'd forgotten to turn them off last week and plugged them in but all they did was get REALLY hot. Then they wouldn't work at all.

I have it sync to my iPhone, MacBook Pro (use iSync), and 2011 Mustang GT 5.0. Clear and crisp sounds. Easy to use and it tell me how many hours of use is left. Only draw back, can't wear glasses with it. I've also never used a bluetooth before so I need to get used to the feel of it. Overall, it was a good purchase.

By far the best audio quality for those I am talking to - if it is not too noisy or windy out. But what really stands out about this set is the audio quality while listening to music is awesome. They fit under my bike helmet and I pump away with a smile on my face.

I am in the gym working out and all of a sudden the voice control starts going on. It keeps this up for a while and then I can't power down the headphones. Its all a bit strange. Plantronics, what are you going to do to help?

    Great Gift!

This was given to me for Christmas 2010 and I have had ZERO charging issues. I give it *** because I have experienced the audio cutting out while running outside with my iPhone 3GS in my pocket, so now I just use these headphones at the gym with my iPhone about 10-15 ft. away in my gym bag.

I also love using these around the house when doing light work. I also like the mic when making calls. It has been a great gift!

I have gone through 4 of these units so far, and they have all broken. They stop charging and will not turn on. Plantronics web site help section lists many users with this same problem.

Happy with this purchase? Yes I am.

I have to admit, buying bluetooth headphones was a bit of a 'meh, I'll take them back if they are not great' attitude. Clearly I didn't have much faith in that type of product.

But since buying my Plantronics Backbeat 903+ I've been darn satisfied with them. They produce clear, rich music, and after testing a few other brands (Motorola) they are the best on the market for the price and function.

There are however a few small hiccups. The controls for skipping music and volume are on the back of the ear peice. So you need to be able to 'feel' your way around the back of your ear to skip songs and change the volume. I found it easier to do so on the iphone itself. However - I don't really see it as a problem.

The few calls I have taken while wearing them have not been overly great, but it's hard to give an honest account as the few times I have either been in the gym (naturally noisy) or walking in windy conditions; really both instances you would not normally answer the phone. I just happened to do so because it was ringing in my ear.

Pairing the headphones to the iphone wasn't an issue, and the battery meter that appears on the iphone is a nice reminder to charge your ear phones.

Ideally, if you're after a cordless option, for the gym etc... Then this is your best bet. They stayed well placed on my ears / head while running and completing cardio, and didn't move a notch when laying down to complete workouts and weights.

Are they comfortable; yes they are

This headphones are quite good, less distortion can hear over 15 meters away in the office... the only reason i cannot give the other star..... due to the lack of replaceable soft gel that comes with it.... but still quite a good gadget to have one.....

I have had these for about two months now and over all I am pretty satisfied but only rank them as 3 stars due to some key shortcomings. Cannot get enough volume out of them when using them in loud environments i.e. mowing yard. Distance varies, 10ft on a good day. Need to holster my iphone on the left side to avoid cutting out sound if I am active. No text to voice notification. They do fit well and stay on and very comfortable. Sound quality is rather good if there is minimal background noise. Disappointing as I bought them to work in yard and when the mower, blower, edger fired up they are pretty much useless as the sound level cannot overcome the noise of the motors.

    Best so far!

This is my second pair of these headsets. Bottom line, they do the job for me. I ride a lot and they stay connected opposed to the Motorola headset I bought. My last pair of Plantronics worked for about 7 months and then they just wouldn't turn on anymore. I left them for dead for about 6 months and thought I'd try them one more time before I threw them out and bang! They started working again. They lasted about another 4 months.
The only downside to these headsets is that you can't skip back and forth on tracks. That just means you need to pick your playlist carefully.
They are prone to getting sweat in them, so when you are done, dry them off and I recommend putting them in a plastic bag with some rice or desiccant
    Enjoy!

BackBeat 903+ faulty - Known fault with manufacturer

    • Written by from HAMILTON

I bought a pair of these backbeats based on the reviews here of others. Initailly these were the best thing ever invented then they just died. No power on yet fully charged. I checked the manufacturers knowledge base and there are more than 10 examples of the same fault with them. Plantronics appear not to acknowlege this but it exists. I cant be bothered sending back as some people are on their 4th pair! Seems like a faulty product to me that shouldnt be sold.

I think it's overall good... But if we pick this instead of Moto then it's just because of the performance... Sadly It's a compromise of style... This is the only negative point in this particular earphones...

Good in concept but terrible in comfort

I like this product , in concept, as it works great with my iPhone 4 and the sound quality on calls and music is good. The reason I give it only 2 stars is the fit. It is very difficult for me to adjust to a decent comfort. The headset does not come with earbuds of differing sizes to give a better on ear fit. I also wear glasses and since the units sit behind the ears, it sits against the temples of my glasses and pushes against my ears as though the are pushing them out. This unnatural fit combined with my glasses causes a bit of pain after wearing for more than 20 or 30 minutes. My advice is if you wear glasses, or if you frequently wear sunglasses when using this, is to consider how this will fit combined with your frames. If your frames are a thin wire rim, then you may have no problem, if they are a plastic frame, which are more thick, you will more than likely have problems with the fit and comfort as I do.

    Great product!

These are great headphones! I've used them for a full day now both at work and while working out. They are very clear (although I haven't been in any high noise environments) and are comfortable to wear. The OpenMic system is a little strange to get used to. It will pick up on some things but not others, like if someone talks softly.

I haven't used them to take a call, but that wasn't why I got them. It is so nice to be able to workout without having a wire hanging off you! I can't tell you how many times my iPhone 4 almost went flying because I catch my hand in the headphone wire.

My only complaint is that the part of the headphones that goes behind the ear is a little big. Only for appearance though, they are very still very comfortable and light.

    Recommend!

Product is 4 star for sound and integrate call management however due to Apple O/S and subsequent bluetooth compatibility, you cant use the skip track forward or back.

I'm satisfy with the performance of this headset, I use it for jogging and gym. I can watch movie in my iPad with connecting to my iPhone.

Audio wise, in terms of a bluetooth headset, I think the sound quality is more than acceptable, and of course, it's not fair to compare it with those wired headset.

Drawback, it can't change the ear tip, and it won't go deep into your ear channel like those in-ear headset. And you to do the pairing again once you dropped the connection from 1 of 2 of those connected devices.
