    Stopped working for me too

    • Written by from Tulsa

This worked wonderfully at first, then it started to cut out, and I was afraid it was my macbook since it had been dropped. They tested the DVI outlet in the store and said I was fine, so I got a replacement HDMI cable. Turns out it was this thing. $35 down the drain! It worked for 3 months, tops. It will now only work in a very specific position. I will be buying from a different company.

    Terrible

    • Written by from Langhorne

I ordered this product to connect my new MacBook Pro to our LCD TV. We had it for about a month before it almost stopped working entirely. Now it frustrates us endlessly as it only works in a very specific position; even the slightest movement will cause irritating static or a complete disconnect. I wish there was a better alternative, but unfortunately very few companies make this product and almost all of them show a large number of poor reviews.

    Garbage

    • Written by from New Providence

This worked great for a few months, and now it has stopped working all together. I just wish Apple would put HDMI on their machines so didn't need some stupid adapter to hook my computer up to my TV.

    Works Great - But Pricey

    • Written by from Northbridge

Works as described. No issues with connectivity and the build quality is great for me.
Currently i am connecting my 2011 13" MBP to my Dell U2311H monitor via a HDMI cable to the mini display port to HDMI adaptor. There are tones of cheaper solutions out there, but this was the easiest for me.

    Horrible!

    • Written by from Escondido

Bought it to use at some time in the future so it's been sitting in my bag for a couple months. Finally tried to use it and it won't output. Tried several HDMI cables and different screens but nothing worked. Piece of @$#&!

Great when it works but has short lifespan.

    • Written by from Chesapeake

This device doesn't work properly without buying an additional item that cost $100 on top of this device. With the other device this thing works great but it's not made very well and mine just came apart recently (got it about 8 months ago) and all I do is unplug it once in a while because I use the MDP to play Xbox.

It's too pricey for the low quality and life span that it has.

    Pins bent

    • Written by from Waitakere

Worked fantastically at first. However had very little use from it then one day it stopped working. Couldn't figure out why until I noticed all the pins in the plug had bent backwards. Luckly no damage was done to the laptop.

Broke after less than a year

    • Written by from Centre Hall

We've used this lightly over the past year and it broke. The cable is very rigid, so the slightest movement feels like it's breaking something. Sure enough, less than a year in and the connection is extremely spotty.

There aren't a lot of options, but I would recommend a different product.

Works as claimed, but not with World of Warcraft

    • Written by from BOSTON

I purchased this product and a much cheaper product from another manufacturer that does the same thing. The other product could not support 1920x1200 resolution, but this Moshi product can. For that alone, I recommend it.

There were glitches, however, but I blame Apple rather than Moshi:
    1) Audio works form my July 2010 MacBook, so only 1 cable is necessary (hooray), but every time I plug it in, I need to launch System Preferences and manually set the output sound device to HDMI.
    2) World of Warcraft (and I suspect any other 3D game) is unplayable because kernel_task starts consuming all the CPU. It works fine with VGA or DVI adapters, but not this HDMI adapter. I suspect this is a bug in the graphics driver.

    It's exactly what i wanted

    • Written by from NEW YORK

While the case isn't the slimmest, i've had it for 8 months on my 46" tv and my 11" MBA. Audio pass through is fine and it supports 1080p.

The only 2 issues I have are 1) i wish it were slimmer / more streamline; and 2) 1080p video is choppy on my MBA 11" but i'll blame that on the relatively old technology in the Air rather than the adapter itself.

    Like so many others

    • Written by from Kingston

This product worked perfectly for me for a long time.
Unfortunately, I made the mistake of upgrading my RAM, which meant I had to remove the plug from the back of my iMac.
Since then, I only get PCM audio, even direct from DVD.
Too late for a refund, maybe I can find a better product, or perhaps Apple can support discrete channels from the optical out? Not likely.

moshi mdp is not downward compatible with hdmi 1.1 or 1.2

    • Written by from North York

I am very dissapointed in both Apple and Moshi. Having purchased a MBP 15" in feb 2011, I asked the Apple store people for an HDMI adapter and was given the moshi.
Little did I know that this adapter is not downward compatible with older HDMI devices like my 5 year old Sharp Equos LCD 27" TV.
Apple says they are not responsible and Moshi seems to have designed a device that cannot be used on older equipment.
Seems MOSHI is following in Apple's footsteps when they design devices that are not compatible with earlier models. An example are the video cables and docking station for the iPod classic and the iPod touch. I could go on.
    Sheesh!

    Doesn't last long..

    • Written by from Orlando

I bought this along with my MacBook in 2010 and it worked fine for a couple of months. I pride myself on taking exceptional care of my things however this product didn't last long at all, so disappointed..

    a poor product

    • Written by from Perth

The first time i used this the casing came loose. Then it seemed to work fine for a month before becoming temperamental - it only worked sporadically with lots of green screen dropout?. A very frustrating piece of kit. Come on apple, isn't it time you made an adaptor for HDMI that is robust????
