I connected this Minidisplay port with HDMI to my 52" HDTV and can use the T.V. as a second monitor. It is cool.

    Not Reliable

    • Written by from Youngstown

I bought this to display audio and video on my HD TV in my dorm room- it worked well for the first three times I used it. Then, for no apparent reason, it will not connect to the TV. Instead, the TV and computer will flash back and forth without the TV being able to show the picture. I tested the HDMI cord and TV separately and both work fine. The quality of this product is extremely poor and I can see others are having the same issue, so this must not be an isolated incident. I would look for other options if I were you to avoid this expensive headache.

2010 MBA 10.6.4 detected refresh rate incorrect caused frame dropping.

    • Written by from Chicago

I have the moshi hdmi, and apple dvi to minidisplay port adapters. The apple dvi worked perfect with my older mbp w/audiodigital out. Thought I would get the moshi because the new air does not have digital out via the headphone jack. While watching Fringe from fox the playback started dropping frames. By the end the video would start blanking out. I downloaded an .mks of the episode and received the similiar results. I connected everything to another 1080p (LCD) television I have and it displayed as it should. I reconnected to my 50" plasma and noted that in display properties/color it had auto detected the refresh rate to 24hz. I then set the refresh rate to 60hz. The video and streaming displayed correctly. Hopefully this helps someones else, or gives them something extra to try. Oh, and the audio works fine.

    Cheers!

Stylish adapter that matches my MBP!

I had initially purchased a Mini DP of ebay, it lasted a month, but always had interference.

The Moshi Mini DP, is very well made, has absolutely no interference and works just as it should!

    Very happy!

    Poor

    • Written by from Durham

Video transfer to my TV was VERY POOR - choppy and disruptive. When I switched back to my older adapter, things worked just fine, leading me to believe that this particular adapter is not that good.

Worked well for a few weeks

Overpriced for the quality of the product. Fails to connect consistently, have to play with the wire to get lucky and get the TV to connect. Take a pass on this model.

    did not work at all

    • Written by from Tucson

this faulty product didn't work. i connected the adaptor plus the HDMI cable to my computer. the computer screen flashed, recognizing a display, but system preferences did not give me the settings for an additional display and my HDTV with HDMI input did not recognize an input I restarted, I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, i tried all inputs in my TV, nothing worked. this was a waste of my time and money. Plus, Apple reps confirmed it would work on my computer (after looking up my serial number). i wish they did more research before they sold this to me. i'll be returning this tomorrow.

    Are you for real?

    • Written by from Freistadt

You gotta be kidding me...bought my € 1.7k macbook pro last year...now i must realize that this "new innovative mini DisplayPort" does not even carry the audio signal? Why the **** are you indroducing it then when there is allready a working standard port for video AND audio (HDMI)

I see this this as a huge design error...and as an apple customer (got a macbook pro,mac mini and iPhone) I am reaaaally dissapointed...proprietary: OK but not at the cost of funcionality

an upgrade to the new mini-dp port should be cost free from my point of few...

    Great Picture BUT......

I have a BRAND NEW MacBook Pro (2 weeks old) and this adapter works great with video, but alas, no sound pass-thru! Tried 3 different HDMI cables to confirn it's the adapter and not a bad HDMI cable. BE FOREWARNED! It may not work even on the new MacBook Pros!

    Good Product

I have had it for about a month now and it works pretty great. It's easy to use and it was relatively cheap. I am so glad to not be using VGA any longer! I absolutely recommend this HDMI adapter.

I was nervous on buying this product because of all the talk about Samsung TV's not working correctly with the new mac book pros Unfortunately Samsung Tv's are all I have in my house. i connected and the video worked right away. I didn't get any audio. Went to settings and changed the output from built in to Samsung and worked Perfect!! I am extremely happy with this one cable solution

    Does what it says

    • Written by from Broken Arrow

Like the specs say, it only supports audio with 2010 Macs. Unfortunate yes, but that's just the way it is. I also wanted to note that it would not work with a cheaper Category 1 HDMI cable that I own. However, when I connected it with a "name brand" HDMI cable (not sure if Category 1 or 2) it worked fine.

    Stop Displaying via HDMI

Purchased this HDMI adapter from an APPLE reseller. Worked for a few times with sounds but ceased to display video and photos on my Panasonic Plasma. The display is now fixed at the default desktop background.

Bought it in US apple store. Used it 3-4 times, then suddenly it refused to display anything via HDMI. And I cant even change it for a good one here.

Works like a charm with my mid 2010 MBP model! Very satisfied. For sound to come out of your tv, you must change the sound output in system preferences

    Works as advertized!

    • Written by from Montreal

I have a MBP 15" mid-2010. First, for the Moshi adapter to work, the MBP must be set the Nvidia video card. Second, the other end of the HDMI connection must be... connected to the hardware you intend to use. My setup was a Yamaha RX-V765
7.2-Channel receiver and a Sanyo PLV-Z3000 projector (MBP -> Yamaha -> Sanyo). Once that was setup, the MBP saw the projector and the eight audio channel out were available to any audio app (Logic, Cubase, Bidule, wathever). So it works as advertised!
