Best AnsweriWork is definitely cheaper, only 20 bucks each (you can choose which to buy separately on the Mac App Store) for Pages (Word) Keynote (Powerpoint) and Numbers (Excel). They can also save in the microsoft office formats, but you shouldn't rely on that too much, since there can be a few changes when you open them up on the pcs. Pages also has different types of, well, pages. Envelopes, resumes, brochures, etc. Overall, iWork is a lot more simpler.
However, if you are a die hard Microsoft fan, and you couldn't figure out a single button without Word, etc., or you would do a LOT of interchanging between mac and PC, go with Office. I do mostly printing, in which case any "changes" don't bother me.
The mac app store has a pdf to iWork converter, called PDF2Office SE for iWork, if you want.- Answered by Nikko S from Florence

Best AnswerCurrent Apple systems that come with Mac OS X 10.7 (Mid 2011 systems forward) do not ship with install dvds because they come with Lion Recovery. Lion Recovery is a partition on your primary HDD that allows you to do everything install dvds do. You can also download the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant from the support section and create an external Lion Recovery.

is mac linux based?
And also, what is terminal?
- Asked by Tanmay B from Brampton
- Jul 3, 2012
- Flag as inappropriate
Best AnswerMac OS X is based on BSD Unix, not Linux. Mac OS 9 and earlier are not based on Unix. Linux binaries will not run on Mac OS X. If you want to run a Linux program on Mac OS X you need to recompile it from source or run Linux (eg. Ubuntu) in an emulator like Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion, or VirtualBox. Terminal refers to a command-line interface. You can not run Linux binary programs on the Mac terminal. Terminals are present in Mac OS X, Linux, Unix, and several other operating systems.

AnswerApple does not make a cable modem.
You may be able to buy a cable modem from your cable provider or store for a reasonable price, but the type of modem is going to be specific to your cable internet provider. Most cable internet providers will be able to help you select one, if one is avaialble.- Answered by Wiley S from Lafayette
