It works by connecting it to your hd TV by an hdmi cable. Then it will pretty much walk you through the steps itself. Make sure home sharing is turned on in the itunes window on your main computer. On the apple tv ,You will have to enter in your wireless network information and register the AppleTV with your wireless network. Then it will update and access iTunes wirelessly. Anything on or in itunes can be accessed ,and you can use apple tv for mirroring your iphone or iPad, too. Just go to settings on the main Apple TV screen and go to airplay and turn it on. Then on your iOS device, choose Apple TV from the airplay menu and turn on mirroring. Then it'll show your device's screen and whatever fills it . other features of apple tv are.. if you have Netflix or a YouTube account, for example, just sign into them and you're good to go. It's really very easy. You just have to use the provided remote to control it and enter information . It's not bluetooth capable. If you have more questions, there will actually be an Apple TV user guide that appears in the iTunes window on your main computer under where it says "advanced", I believe, on the very top of the screen. AnswerI am trying to do it but have not had good success. I can get to the apple TV screen and scroll to the choices such as Netflix, Youtube, etc. The problem is when you try to play something. Nothing will play. So far my Harmony help options have not seemed to solve the issue.

If you are wondering if you can use it as in purchasing content, yes you can. I presently live in Indonesia and use my Apple TV to purchase content from Canada. The reason is that my iTunes account is in Canada.
If you mean using it as in electrical. I just use an adapter plug and I can use it in a 220v environment. Australia is 240v, I think, so you just need an adapter.

Is there any way to AirPlay from my iPhone 4s or iPad 3 to the new Apple TV without a wifi network? Like for presentations.
It seems like it should be easy enough to create an ad hoc network (sans internet) with any one of these devices and have a very portable presentation system, but I can't figure a way of doing it short of turning up Personal Hotspot service on my iPhone and paying for the mobile broadband fees. Or carrying a router with me.
