Bad wifi signal downstairs with Virgin Media Superhub

I have terrible wifi signal downstairs since being upgraded to a Virgin Media Superhub (the hub is upstairs).

Has anyone found the Airport Extreme improves signal around the house? I only live in a small 1920's 3 bed semi and the signal was fine downstairs before the Superhub. I am tired of running up the data bill on my iphone and ipad when i am at home already paying for broadband that i can't connect to!

I don't know if the Virgin "Superhub" can be extended using Apple gear with WDS directly. But, since you're on Virgin, you might be interested to know that AirPort products work very well when connected to the hub directly using Ethernet. You should put your hub into modem mode, and then purchase an AirPort Extreme, to see if you can't get the best coverage available. If you can't, use an Express to extend the Extreme's range. Or, if you already have an Express, try it first, and see if it's good enough for your entire house.
