What if my Nike shoes came with a built in sensor and all i need is the ipod attachment? Can i buy that separately?

It depends on what ipod you will be using more recent ipods have it bulit in but if you have an older modelyou will meed a sensor. check inside your shoe (under the insret as well to make sure you dont need the sensor)
