  Yes you can. But you always need a apple remote when first setting up an ATV. Wish that would change.

• Like many remotes, I lose mine from time to time. Sometimes permanently. I was told at the apple store when I tried to replace it that there was no need because my iphone app will work. I downloaded the app and it is a puzzling app. Nothing like my remote in how it worked. Was I told incorrecrt information?
