It's definitely Needed!
I'm not sure what the other person is saying, but the palm area / touch pad can definitely be scratched. Unfortunately I learned I'm not sure what the other person is saying, but the palm area / touch pad can definitely be scratched. Unfortunately I learned this the hard way. I purchased the Moshi palmguard to protect my MacBook and so far its done a great job. You can barely tell it is on your machine because it is very thin and the color is matched very nicely. I will definitely make sure to have one of these on any future MacBooks that I buy. …

It obviously feels different than the macbook, but I believe that is the point, so it protects the palm area and trackpad. It fits perfectly and blends perfectly with the macbook pro, I recommend for any mac owners who want to preserve and protect their investment! My only qualm is that it is a bit pricey for a piece of plastic, I don't understand why the moshi products are a little expensive, but all in all it is worth it. …

Track Pad Protector inhibits it's use...

The Product is still good, and i am fully utilizing it...LOL with the exception of the track-pad cover!
we pay enough for this stuff for at least a couple little things to be thought of, i even thought when purchasing this protective gear, "the track-pad" might be affected, but obviously i did not know to what extent....
If any one else has had this issue, and can fix it in some manner please feel free to let me know....

does it leave the surface of the aluminum sticky after you take it off/ and can you take it on and off easily?

Definitely not, it's quite fabulous really. I've had mine on continuously for about 10 months. I'm a Definitely not, it's quite fabulous really. I've had mine on continuously for about 10 months. I'm a grad student so my MacBook Pro palm area sees a lot more traffic than the average computer would. Needless to say, I recently wanted to replace it because it was looking a REALLY DIRTY (better the protector than the computer aluminum right?) and pulled it right off......no build up, no residue, no stickiness. The only con I can think of is that the actual pad doesn't completely fit to the edges so you're going to have to center it yourself. It also comes with a clear cover for the trackpad. This fits pretty true AND is great b/c it keeps the grease and grime and possible discoloration away. Mine is still on right now and I can actually see the main spot that my fingers rome in that's ultra shiny.....just think, that could be my actual trackpad instead of the covering. For such an expensive computer, it makes sense to use this item. Best investment for my MacBook Pro as of yet. …

No, it does not fit the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Instead of returning the item, I used No, it does not fit the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Instead of returning the item, I used a sharp pair of scissors and trimmed it down to size.
