Get the cord adaptor instead.
I ordered 2 of these adaptors. BIG PROBLEM: they do not connect to your Iphone 5 if you have a case. (I have the speck case). Si nce EVERYONE has a case, I am confused as to why Apple would make this product, or not even warn you that it does not plug in when a case is on your phone. The cord adaptor is a bit more expensive, but at least you won't ruin your case by having to continually put it on and off to use the adaptor. …

Will not work if your iPhone 5 has any kind of cover
The length of the lightning adapter is too short if you have any kind of cover with your iPhone 5. I have an Apple-like bumper cov er (similar to iPhone 4/4S) and the metal contact on the adapter is WAY TOO short. I suggest getting the Lighting to 30-pin Adapter Cable instead. The cable has a thin longer Lightning connection that will work with most iPhone 5 covers. …

Useful but expensive
It seems to be a useful adapter to have, but for it to cost £25.00? Seems a bit of a rip off to me...

Don't bother!
Whether it's the official one or a cheap one they do not work!!! Annoyed with Apple that they expect us to fork out for a new gene ration ipod to find that the adapters don't work on most docking stations. I have resorted to using Auxiliary on all three of my ipod docking speakers it's the only way around it unless you have the money to fork out for a new ones. …

Perfect!!
I had previously bought a Bose sound dock when I originally owed an Apple iPhone 4, but when upgrading to an i5 I could no longer dock my phone. I had read previous reviews and was very skeptical about purchasing this product. After a long period of missing my listening to my music I decided to bite the bullet as it were and was over the moon.
All the features of my dock work perfectly including the remote and I was very pleased. I highly recommend this adapter. …- Written by Jamie G from Pontypool

Answer
No, this is a Lightning to 30 pin (dock) adapter
It allows you to connect older iPhone cables (30 pin) to your new iPhone 5 or iPad 4 with a Lightning connector.
If you were using a 30 pin cable to charge the older phone, you can use that cable with this adapter to charge your new phone. …- Answered by Trevor I from Victoria
