Product Information

  • Use the Apple Digital AV Adapter to mirror whatever’s on your iPad or iPhone 4S screen — apps, presentations, websites, and more — on your HDTV or HDMI-compatible display in up to 1080p HD (movies play at up to 720p). Watch slideshows and movies on the big screen in up to 720p by connecting your iPad, iPhone 4, or iPod touch (4th generation) to an HDTV or HDMI-compatible display. The Apple Digital AV Adapter routes digital audio to screens that support it. Connect the Apple Digital AV Adapter to your iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, or iPod touch (4th generation) via the 30-pin dock connector and to your HDMI-compatible display using an HDMI cable (sold separately). A second 30-pin connector built into the AV adapter lets you charge and sync your device while it’s connected to your HDMI-compatible display.

You will need an HDMI cable to act as your extension cable. Note the extra connection that will let you charge the iPad as you use it to play through your TV etc. Note also that when you connect to your iPad it locks to it, (to stop accidental disconnection) when you want to detach, use the little release button at the side not really visible.Works fine with Youtube, BBC player ITV player, iTunes movies and most useful in my case Netflix movies streamed from the internet. Used with new iPad no problems at all.

The connection behaves as if there is a short in the cable... very frustrating! Returned the first purchase, because I thought the product may have been returned damaged; however, second purchase behaved exactly the same. I believe Apple should consider a redesign; great idea, but simply does not work well.

I have found that these adapters work just fine if being used in a stationary setting. However, if this device is used in a settin I have found that these adapters work just fine if being used in a stationary setting. However, if this device is used in a setting where it might need to be flexed or twisted (ie. Classroom or Business setting), these adapters don't hold up well. The connection between the iPad and the HDMI display becomes unreliable and begins to cut in and out.

Started using it with my I have been useing the New Version Apple Digital AV Adapter ( A1422 ) sence it was first made available. Started using it with my iPad 2nd gen., only about a month old and at first it did not work at all with genaric HDMI cable I had so I went and spent $46 on a nice black and blue Nylon woven sleaving around the actual cable with the Gold plated connection ends and it worked great. I then bought the iPad 3rd gen. ( The New iPad ) and started using the Adapter with it and this time flawless, no issue at all. This adapter is working great with the iPad 2nd with the newest update 7.1 to kick, how, I Don't know why and don't care, it works great, if it isn't broke don't fix it right. And still working great with the iPad 3rd with 7.1.... So I have no complaint with it, on working with the iPads.

My problem is when I hook up the HDMI with my iPod Touch 4th gen. to my HDTV and tried all three ports, all I get is very great sound and no picture. Tried all there ports shutting everything off and restarting the HDTV and iPod Touch 4th gen. And still the same thing great sound and no picture, I mean really. I just want to use for RedBox Instant app. Yes it works with it on both iPads but not the iPod. Why not just use the iPad sense it works with it you, well I will tell ya, lol, I wont to be able to use my iPad while in and out of the movie. But check this out the TV I am trying it on is a off brand that works really well called a Sceptre HDTV , well thats what the makers say anyway, in my opinion it's not a true HDTV because we get the HD services and lol it still don't look like our LG Smart HDTV that I have not tried the iPod Touch 4th on yet. And I will later and give the update. Thank you for reading, have a great one.
