Product Information

  • The magic is in the Multi-Touch.

The new Magic Mouse redefines what a mouse should do. In addition to its smooth, seamless top-shell design that acts as one button or two, Magic Mouse features a Multi-Touch surface with gesture support. Scroll vertically, horizontally, and diagonally — a full 360 degrees — simply by touching anywhere on the top surface. With a greater surface area for scrolling, you can get around a long timeline in iMovie, through a lengthy web page in Safari, or around a set of images in iPhoto more efficiently. You can also swipe through pages in Safari or photos in iPhoto with two fingers. It’s the most advanced Apple mouse ever made.

One or two. Left or right.

The seamless, one-button design of Magic Mouse makes it simple to use right out of the box. But if you want the functionality of a two-button mouse, that’s easy, too. Just change the configuration in System Preferences. And the ambidextrous construction means Magic Mouse is great for lefties or righties.

    Laser tracking engine.

Magic Mouse features a laser tracking engine that’s far more sensitive and responsive on more surfaces than traditional optical technology. That means it can track with precision on nearly every surface with no mousepad required.

    Bluetooth technology.

Magic Mouse works wirelessly with your Bluetooth-enabled Mac. When you combine it with the Apple Wireless Keyboard, the result is an untethered and uncluttered workspace. Once you pair Magic Mouse with your Mac, you can enjoy a secure and reliable connection from up to 33 feet away.

Its unreal how elegant it looks on my desk, but what is trully remarkable, is just how intuitive it really is. The MT serface is so sensitive, it reacts so fluidly, you would almost think it is a true extension of you.

For me, there is NO comfortable way to hold this mouse and I have tried many different ways. It is not ergonomic in the slightest. The movement of the pointer on the screen is far from acceptable when using it.

The one thing I do like about it is the gesture support; very intuitive and useful, but you might as well get the trackpad which is more accurate, comfortable and (at the moment) features more gestures.

If you don't like the trackpad then I would suggest any other standard mouse. If you buy this there's a fair chance your fingers will be aching from the constant attempts to hold this mouse comfortably.

Steer clear and get the magic trackpad instead!

It goes with me to use on digital exams when I have to click quickly and precisely, but otherwise it usually lives on my desktop for when I use the laptop in clamshell mode. The multitouch gestures are very convenient and reliable. My only complaint is the tracking speed is somewhat slow out of the box, but that was pretty easily corrected by just upping the sensitivity.

I use this with my macbook pro and find it to be a great addition. Don't expect it to fit in your palm as it just won't, you need to use it with your fingers. The thing that sold it to me was the difference in scrolling down the 5k Mac webpage in the store with one of these mice and then doing it at home on my PC. The user experience is just superior with this mouse.

As for battery life, it has lasted me 4 charges of my macbook pro retina and is still going which I think is pretty good. when they run out I'll use rechargeables so not a problem

I bought it to replace an aging Pro Mouse which was still performing it’s single function admirably and without fail. Only when my girlfriend picked up Magic Mouse did I fall for it’s design and versatility. When it’s working, it’s a joy to use. I can even get a month or two out of daily office use on one set of batteries. However too often it looses it’s connection. Often it reconnects after a few minutes on it’s own, but more often I’ve got to track pad my way over to the Bluetooth icon and pair it manually. On a number of occasions I’ve had to delete it’s Bluetooth record completely and re-pair as if the mouse were new. Finally, on one occasion the Magic Mouse remained un-discoverable by Yosemite for two days despite a battery change an multiple power cycles. (Both computer and mouse).

My bottom line is that I truly enjoy the Magic mouse as a beautifully designed and versatile tool, but I live in fear of reliability issues. Especially during presentations and after battery changes. 2/5 from me. It’s pretty, but it’s made me look unprepared enough that it now stays behind while my MBP and I attend meetings.
