Apple MagSafe Airline Adapter
With the MagSafe Airline Adapter, you'll never again worry about losing power while traveling. Just plug it into your airline seat power port and keep your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air computer powered up for the entire flight.

Now you'll never lose your work or miss the end of a DVD movie because your battery runs out at 35,000 feet. The MagSafe Airline Adapter will keep your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air juiced throughout your flight. Sleek and light, it works with in-seat DC power ports available on many commercial airliners — both EmPower ports and 20mm ports (using the included adapter). Check with your airline regarding availability of in-seat power ports.
Because it's a MagSafe adapter, you'll continue to enjoy MagSafe convenience just as you do at home or work. The magnetic DC plug ensures a tight connection and enables a clean break from the power port if there is undue tension — preventing your MacBook from being pulled off your tray table if someone accidentally trips over the cord.
Important notes:
- Using the MagSafe Airline Adapter provides power for your computer but does not charge the battery.
- The MagSafe Airline Adapter is not compatible with automobile power ports.

Apple MagSafe Airline Adapter
No flaws. All Flaws are USER RELATED!!

Wow. It works great. It comes with adapters for both kinds of power ports found on air planes. Watched DVDs and played games the whole cross country flight.
For those who claim that there are flaws because they left the 20mm adapter behind, it is not Apple's fault you are an idiot and did not check to make sure you had all parts before leaving the plane. If you left your power cord in a hotel, is that Apple's fault?? NO! Then why is it their fault if you lost the 20mm adapter tip?
Also for those who complain it does not charge WHO CARES??? Why are you using your battery on the plane if you can plug it in? If you walk on the plane with a full charge and plug it in on the plane for the full time you are using it, then you leave with a fully charged battery.
People, it is really simple: it is not Apple's fault you leave parts behind and it is not Apple's fault you are illiterate or you did not bother to read the instructions. …More1095 of 1506 people found this useful

Adapter use
Written by GM from Lake Forest

Great adapter! Users should be able to leave with all the parts they stated with, It's not Apples fault they forget part of it in the Power-Port. If it were welded together then I'm sure there would be like reviews griping about how it wasn't good for EmPower ports and they had to buy two. Proper techniques and responsibility go a long way to user satisfaction. If it were bullet proof, with every conceivable reinforcement, it would weigh a ton and cost 3 times the amount. It's great for what it is in the limitations of airlines power supply restrictions (they can't supply every seat with 500 watts of power). It's simple and takes up little room. Good job apple. …More

Does exactly as it says. It isn't Apple's fault if you don't check if you pulled the adapter out of the wall.

Rescued from sheer boredom and the beginning of a chlosterphobic outburst..
Written by SM from WILLIAMSBURG

Ok - very surprised that the thing does not charge the battery. But then again that makes sense as the "Charging" Stations in Airports now need their slice of the pie. Was watching Star Trek, when the steady decline of my power available became more interesting than the movie. Apple products do exactly what Apple says it does. Nothing more, Nothing less. Curiously that other company has not caught on to that yet. …More

Left on plane twice, Wow
Written by PL from La Quinta

This product works just fine. However there is a flaw in design. The tip often stays in the plane socket when pulled out. I have lost two in the last six months. Yes, I should look each time but there is something to the fact that when you pull it out you think you have it. However, it takes a special investigation each time. The fact that you plug it in without incident, but when you pull it, it often separates, is a design flaw. Yes, Apple could do better. Where is the replacement part? …More

Have yet to come across a plane I can plug it into. Waste of money.
I can't say it doesn't work, as I have not had the opportunity to try it yet.
Naturally, this was not advertised with the product. …More4 of 35 people found this useful

Does it charge an iPhone connected through MacBook Pro?
- Asked by TM from La Jolla
- Oct 8, 2009
Best Answer
Short answer YES. I've just run a test, and the previous answer of "no, it charges from any power left in the MacBook battery" is incorrect. I'm running a MacBook Pro 13", MacBook battery at 99%, and it has charged my iPhone from 25% to 100% without affecting the MacBook (still at 99% charge). I notice the iPhone charging is slower than usual though. …More
