The iPod usb plug is easy and simple to use just plug a usb cable to it (comes with it) and turn it on.

If it comes with a small power adapter (cube shape) you will need to buy a new one. If it is the same size and shape as the one on the Apple Store Australia website, then you can either choose to purchase the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit which includes a new power adapter or the cheaper option is to buy the power adapter separate. You could always charge through the USB port with the cable included. …More

I have just purcahsed this USB power adaptor, after reading that same "Note".
It is an Australian plug and is all working fine with my iPhone 3GS.
