The "wireless bone conduction headphones" lingo made me think that there wouldn't be any sound coming out of the speakers for people around me to hear. Unless you have the volume very low (like, sleeping baby in the room next to you low), anyone standing near you can hear the music. . . which makes them more like personal speakers than earphones. As for fit/comfort, I found them a bit tight, and there was a strong vibration pulsing with the music--kind of a multimedia experience, but in a bad way. I had them on for about 30 seconds, and when I took them off, my head and jaw felt very strange. Perhaps others would get used to it, but I can't imagine keeping them on for very long.

For the sake of the review, I thought I would test them for a phone call. They were slightly better for conversation than music. I called my mom, and her voice was tinny. She said that she could hear me, but that my voice was tinny as well. We chatted about five minutes, and she asked me if I could take the headphones off and talk to her "normal." When I did take the headphones off, I had that not-so-good jaw feeling again. Note that I wear a bluetooth headset (plantronics) for phone calls at my job all day long, so I am accustomed to having something on my head. This is a different feeling. . . and kind of pre-headachey.

The one positive thing I can say is that they have good range; I walked 25 steps away from my phone during the call before the quality got scratchy. If you don't have a lot of motor sensitivity in your head, and you're looking for a way to hear both your music/phone call PLUS outside ambient noise (safety? not sure why else), you might find these interesting. But from the packaging, price, and availability at the Apple Store, I expected something more impressive.

  • Awesome & works for the gym!

However, depending on how crowded the gym is, you will hear a bit of gym noise in the background since these aren't in ear headphones. With that said, for bone conducting headphones that are wireless, they're surprisingly good. When you raise the volume up really loud, you'll feel the base and the headphones start bouncing on your temple. It'll actually tickle a little.

Since they don't slide in your ear, sweat doesn't build up. Also, you're aware of your surroundings and are able to hold a conversation while still listening to music. The battery lasts pretty long, I worked out with a full charge for 2 hours, went home and purposely left it off the charger to see how much juice it would have the next day, the headphones beeped "battery high", so I was pretty stoked about that. I don't feel like I wasted a hundred dollars, yet, at least.

Anything with much bass causes a slight buzzing near the ear that might put off some users.

  • Great product with limitations.

While the headphones at first may set you off by the way the sit in front of your ears, don't let that deter you from this great product. After a quick charge I decided to take them to the mall and see how they would perform under "mild" ambient noise conditions. They performed very well while allowing to stay alert of your surroundings. The music I decided to listen to at this location was classical and the sound reproduction scored a 8/10. My next location I tested these headphones was in the car, yes thats right, in the car. While local law states that no item may be worn on or over the ears that will distract the driver or alter, isolate or otherwise inhibit the reception of sound, these headphones do not block your ears or ear canal in any way. However, I will state with louder, more intense music the wearer may be unable to pickup sirens or other important audible noises quickly. Music of choice was rock, and it scored a 6.9/10. More intense music (rock, heavy rock, rap or hip-hop etc...) experiences a reduction in fidelity. The highs and mids come over well, but the bass gets lost, and is experienced as vibrations. Next up was bed time, needless to say this doesn't work. Due to the way it is designed, the band goes behind your head and when you lay down the pads get pushed off the "prime" location and you may risk breaking your headphones. No score here, because I did not want to risk breaking them. In the A.M. I took them out with me to do some archery. Music of choice here was country, vocal, instrumental, jazz, and alt. rock. Sound reproduction for these genre's was good scoring a 7.5/10 overall. I was finally able to wear headphones while shooting archery and still hear my surroundings. This to me is a huge plus. The last test performed was the phone call test. Overall for the reproduction of voice, clarity, and pickup, 9/10. Great unit for phone calls, the big plus here was a noise canceling mic paired with two output sources (speakers) puts this rating up high. Moreover for those who are parents and want to work out with music while the little one is sleeping and still be able to hear them if they cry or wake is where this unit really can shine. This unit should be able to fit nearly all head sizes with the included rubber headband, that easily snaps in place and sits beneath the piano black finish headband. Only limitations here is sound reproduction and fidelity aren't great, they are passable, and don't expect jaw dropping sound. However I found the best sound reproduction to come from classical, jazz, vocal, and other easy listening music with mild to low bass.

They are extremely light, and smaller than I had anticipated. I had half expected for the vibrations to be silent until I was wearing the headphones, but unfortunately that is not the case. You can still hear the sound when you are not wearing the headphones, which is really my only disappointment. Other than that, they have relatively good Bluetooth range, I'd say no more than 10-15 feet. They also have great sound quality. I actually really enjoy listening to music on them, as well as audiobooks.

really impressed, great for keeping phone in pocket without trailing wires. i can listen to music and take calls on my bike or whi really impressed, great for keeping phone in pocket without trailing wires. i can listen to music and take calls on my bike or whilst walking and be more aware of traffic around me.
Been bone conduction i Tried them with my mum who struggles hearing and cannot take FaceTime or normal phone calls and she was so impressed with them we had to go and get some more within 20 minutes as it made calls so much more clearer for her, and was wondering why her audiologist had not recommended something like this for her hearing aid. My Mum has never been seen wearing headphones so going out to by some straight away shows how much help they are for her, and seeing her happy been able to hear clearer is enough to make worth while.
Apple so not stock these but they also make wired versions a little cheaper, but my mum is thinking of getting some for TV so can watch with dad.

    BRILLIANT, can't recommend enough
