  • Overview

The BeoPlay H6 over-ear headphones give you authentic sound that's built on a clear midrange and a careful balance between bass and treble. This level of audio quality is delivered by 40 mm custom-designed drivers with neodymium magnets that are perfectly angled to get the best distance and sound direction into your ears. There's also an internal bass port to ensure carefully balanced bass performance from this closed headphone design.

    Optimal sound and fit

To provide the ideal listening experience, B&O PLAY thoroughly studied the shape and curves of the human ear to determine the proper geometries that reduce sound leakage and reveal all the fine details in the music no matter what the volume.

    Top-quality materials

The primary structural components are made of anodized high-grade aluminum, so BeoPlay H6 is surprisingly light as well as robust and scratch-resistant. There's even anodized aluminum on the adjustable slider arm and cover plate to finish the design with a final vibrant touch.

    Superb industrial design

Danish industrial designer Jakob Wagner collaborated with B&O PLAY in shaping BeoPlay H6. His training as a mechanical engineer and industrial designer allowed him to influence all the practical stages of the design process.

The clarity and sound stage are wonderful. They are comfortable. The bass it tight and accurate. If you want heavy over-accentuated bass... to with Beats. I compared these to the B&W P7 and liked these better. There was a crispness to the midranges and highs. The B&W sounded warmer, which to me means a bit muddier. Everyone has their own sense of what sounds good. Try these out and you may feel you have found the best set available.

The design of the headphones is flawless, the leather is completely comfortable, and I often forget I am wearing them. They feature two audio input jacks, one on the left and one on the right which i find especially useful because the one that is not in use you can use effectively as a splitter, which my friends can plug into. On average I have been using these for over 6 hours a day, listening to a variety of music genres, and i was pleased, but not surprised to find that they excel in all areas, especially in the acoustic, classical and alternative areas. The bag that they come with is bearable yet not amazing, although I am told B&O offer a leather one for a significant price.
Overall a marvellous pair of headphones that I am exceptionally pleased with and would recommend to anyone.

The clamping pressure is much less than the P7, which is not a problem due to their light weight. A large portion of the headphones is plastic, but it is excellent quality with no visible molding seams. These headphones are quite neutral sounding. The mids are clear and precise while the highs are crisp without causing discomfort. I tested the B&W P7 and M&D MH40 along with these. These were the only headphones that could be played at a high volume with little discomfort. Soundstaging is by far the best among the three. I was fairly convinced that I was actually at a live performance when listening to lossless AIFF files through my external DAC. However, the bass on these headphones is slightly less powerful than it should be. The bass dynamics on these left something to be desired, say during the last 5 minutes of Beethoven's Symphony #9. Unlike the other two headphones, the H6 sounded great with a wide variety of music. The P7 also had excellent mids and highs but sounded harsh when listening to violin concertos. If classical music and the like represents the majority of your music library, these are the best headphones under $500.

I would recommend them if they are within your budget but make sure the sound and fit is right for you. My local B&O dealer was too much of a sales man for my liking, so do your own research and make your purchase from a store you feel comfortable with. The design is great and I think B&O have done an excellent job with the H6s in sound, construction and build.

Note: When doing my research, I did find that not many magazines or pro’s reviewed these headphones. There are also not many detailed videos and I could not understand why not. Do audiphiles not class the brand as important or are their product just too expensive to be taken seriously? I do not have a clue!
