Bought it so both my partner and I could watch downloaded iTunes film together on iPad on plane to pass time. Started with slight Bought it so both my partner and I could watch downloaded iTunes film together on iPad on plane to pass time. Started with slight intermittent mono/stereo sound. Moved splitter around in case loose but totally went mono and both of us had sound only in one ear. Tested headphone in iPad which worked in stereo. Will have to watch film on flight home separately now. Not impressed.
This is a flexible item so could be a broken wire inside or something.
Only rated 1* for my item. Hope rest are not the same and it's a one off. If it was working correctly, as it was for a short time, would have been 5*

I put it in my iPhone 5 and only one side of both earphones worked. After fiddling with it for a few minutes, sound started coming from both sides of both earphones. But slightest movement of the phone or the earphones would make it go back to not working. Not to mention the quality of sound dropped to like 70% when both of them worked, which was only 5% of the time.

I am returning it to Apple right away!

There is no loss of sound q I bought this so I could watch movies with my son on my iPad while traveling, and it works perfectly. There is no loss of sound quality regardless of the type of headphones plugged in. I have Bose Quietcomfort and my son has Dr. Dre Beats and neither of us could tell a difference in quality with or without the splitter. I had a cheap splitter from Radio Shack that really deteriorated the sound, so it's nice to now have a splitter that works well. It's somewhat flexible, which is good so it will bend if you accidentally hit it, as opposed to breaking the earphone jack.
