  • Overview

Withings' Wireless Scale is the next-generation Internet-connected scale.

    Instant high-accuracy weighing

Wireless Scale secretly calibrates while you're away so that it accurately and immediately displays your weight as soon as you step on. If you're striving to lose weight and every little weight variation makes a big difference to you, you'll appreciate that Wireless Scale comes with Withings' Position Control technology, which helps properly position your body for high-accuracy weighing. Also be sure to know where you stand thanks to the complementary BMI (Body Mass Index) reading the scale provides.

    Hassle-free set up and upload

Thanks to its Bluetooth connectivity, Wireless Scale is super easy to set up within just a few minutes on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Your Wi-Fi network configuration is shared with the scale in just one tap from Withings iOS app. After each weighing, the scale automatically uploads and syncs your weight data using its Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connectivity. You'll enjoy the long range of Wi-Fi to weigh from anywhere in your home and the convenience of Bluetooth for on-the–go usage.

    More apps, more success

Wireless Scale primarily works with the free Withings Health Companion app, which lets you visualise your weight trends and monitor your progress. The app also lets you set weekly weight targets and will help get you there. Wireless Scale is also compatible with 40+ health and fitness applications such as Runkeeper, MyFitnessPal or LoseIt!.

One scale for the whole family

Designed for by the whole family, Wireless Scale lets you easily create a user profile for each person—from one single family account and email address. As Wireless Scale gets to know your weight, it automatically recognises who steps on to ensure a seamless weighing even if different family member use it. You can decide to share your weight readings or choose to keep them private so that only you can see them. Choose to publish easily to Facebook and Twitter to keep yourself motivated and receive support from friends.

It was painfully simple to connect, it stays connected and seamlessly sends all my information to my iPhone/iPad. I used to have a weight watchers brand scale and stood there like a goof trying to write down all the numbers with text that seems too small for human consumption. Now I just stand there - wait a few seconds and I'm done.

It transmits through the router to an online withings account (you set up), and subsequently it gets downloaded to the withings apps on your ios devices. The scale shows the first three characters of the person it believes is on the scale. If two users are close to the same weight (within about 7 pounds of each other) after the scale locks a weight, it will show one user on the right and one on the left, you shift your weight in the direction of your ID, and the scale assigns the weighing to your ID. Very cool! It is a little expensive (much better now that it's under $100), but well worth the price. We love the fact that that we no longer have to record our weight.

It appeared to be working but noticed the weights were not what the scale was reading, took a while to realise it was not connecting! it is really not obvious when something is not working and the app is very convoluted. Its going back tomorrow.

Extremely hard to set up. Other versions seem better. I wish I had bought the Aria scale.

  • Poor support, weak and erroneous web guides, a lot of failure modes exist

    2.0 out of 5 stars

I like the concept of this device, but it doesn't work as claimed, and doesn't come with a manual or instructions. The website do I like the concept of this device, but it doesn't work as claimed, and doesn't come with a manual or instructions. The website documents a number of failure modes, and its documentation for troubleshooting has several errors. I get the sense that this company changed the design of the scale, but did not update its documentation, FAQs, or has provided functional solutions for the new scale. It appears that the hardware, software and website design teams didn't talk to one another, and nobody has fact checked the website's information or guidance. There is no customer support phone number, and response to email has not occurred yet.
If you don't change any of the options (e.g., French language needs to change to English, want units in metric, etc.), then it may work as claimed if you pull it out of the box, put batteries in, and pair it up with your network. However, any attempt to change options may be the source of the firmware or software failures. Don't buy until manufacturer can confirm they have resolved all of their problems.
