    Very good...much better than B&W P3

    • Written by from Sugar Land

You can read my review of the P3...it is not very good sonically. No highs...all lows (midbass). The HK CL (Classic) is much better...the frequency range is much wider, from highs to lows. Much more balanced sound. On my iPhone 4S, i turn off EQ setting (as i do with every other headphones). Not many people know this (apparently), the stock EQ is pretty flat on the iPhone already. Anyway, the HK CL sounds amazing! Love it! Keeper for sure!

Stay away from B&W P3 and Bose OE2i.

    Look and sound amazing

    • Written by

First, off, these things look sexy as heck. The finish on these is cutting edge and stylish. I've never thought of headphones as fashionable but these things are really good looking.

Second, you put these on and the noise around you disappears so you're totally in tune and alone with your music. Then you hit play and wow, the sound just draws you in. I listen to a wide range of music and these things deliver in every genre. From booming bass to not overly pushy highs, these things sound awesome.

I think they could have charged more for these because these outperform headphones in the $300 range, which most are.

    Quality.

    • Written by from Encino

    Slick. Sleek. Sound.

These headphones deliver an experience unrivaled by others in the same price range. The quality is nearly impeccable and the design is wonderful. The shape is deceiving, while these box-shaped headphones may simply rest on your ears, they do an outstanding job isolating outside noise, and the comfort level is simply a 10/10.

Haven't taken them on a plane yet but I will soon, and I'm betting they will be just fine, as the sound quality remains steady at the highest possible volume.

Recommended for anyone who thinks they've heard good quality and are willing to be corrected.

    Best Headphone in its Class

    • Written by from hempstead

I consider myself as an audiophile and I'm very particular about every aspect of sound quality.
So overall these headphones deliver good lows, strong mids, and excellent highs. I did find myself looking at equalizer apps to make a well balanced sound because although they sound good out of the box if you take the time to make a good equalizer setting for them it will make a big difference because when I made my own customized setting the headphones really do shine. The app i used to make my equalizer settings was called SuperLoud and its in the app store for about $10 and don't back away because of the price believe me it would be the best $10 app you've ever bought promise. My only concern is for people who wear glasses like myself they do pinch the sides of your head after a good 4 - 5 hrs of using them, other wise I have no more complains about them and I would recommend them to a friend. Superb for the money

    • Written by from Melbourne

I like to consider myself a bit of an audiophile. I've owned countless cans over the years at various price points and can say with conviction that for the money, the HKs are hard to beat.

Sound is immediate and clear. Bass is tight, mids are clean and the highs don't 'shrill'. I've been listening to the more expensive B&W P5s for over a year and can honestly say I prefer the HKs. They're more comfortable and more intimate. Not as 'sweet' as the HKs but more enjoyable none the less.

As others have mentioned, the small headband is quite small (not sure if it was intended for kids or what), so be sure to swap over to the large band as soon as you get em.

Normally I like to 'burn-in' headphones (don't listen to those who say it makes no difference - it definitely does) but these guys shone straight out of the box. Presumably they will sound better in time.

The one caveat, the remote isn't as intuitive to use as others I have tried. There's not enough tactile feedback to let you know which button you're about to press. Other than that, they look great and are well stuck together.

For the money, I highly recommend them.

Harman Kardon Classic Headphones: OK with glasses

    • Written by from Toronto

Having read as many reviews as I could find and knowing there has been some concern about some discomfort when wearing these headphones with glasses, I tested them in store along with the B&W P3s and some other sets.

Other reviews of the P3s are spot on: they sound good and are comfortable, but compared to the HK Classics, their sound is definitely muddled and not as sharp. I really like the B&W C5 earbuds, but I found the P3s lacking somehow.

The Harman Kardon Classics give a crisp, full sound, with just enough bass.

Re: comfort: At first, using the "small" metal band that came attached to the set, there was some discomfort behind my ears (I wear Ørgreen glasses; titanium and very thin, yet there was still noticeable pinching). When I switched to the larger band, I found I could slide the cups a bit further down so they don't pinch the tops of my ears as much. They still provide full coverage of my ears and they fit more comfortably. The downside is that the large band is a bit too big, ideally, for my head. Not too bad, but there is some slippage.

I'll test it out for another week and give an update. If I get used to them over time, I foresee bumping the rating up to a 5; the sound is great!
