However, even if it can be used in portrait and landscape mode, only the landscape is more stable.
Also, the portrait does not support the plug of the USB charge cable. In fact there is not enough space at the bottom to pug it.

In conclusion, I will not recommend it.

It is very sturdy when holding the iPad in landscape orientation, not as much in portrait.

It folds up to a small size very easily which is great because it doesn't take up any room when it is not in use.

It is a little expensive (as I think all stands are) but I think the way it folds up and the build quality makes up for it and is the only stand I think I'd buy for iPad.

Works well in portrait or landscape. It's important to make sure it is FULLY opened to give the best stability. The lightning connector fits when in portrait mode (although another 1/4" in height would be nice to minimize the cable bend). The angle is good for table top and desk top use. I use it on a home entertainment stand (as a music server with my Hi-Fi) and the position/angle are good for accessing playback and music selection controls. Folds up nice for taking along when traveling with the I-pad. Seems well made and does what it should.
