Excellent Earphones but only with Memory Foam Earbuds/Tips

Its a very very well built headphone and I am sure it will lasts you a very long time. Because of the high quality material used, it is quite heavy on the ear and may feel uncomfortable or maybe even drop out. However, if you replace the silicon ear tip with a memory foam ones, all the minor problems will be resolved. I came across the memory foam ear tips after being advised by Atomic Floyd's customer service. The memory foam ear tips that I used are by MoBeast and you can find them fairly cheaply on eBay. At least much more cheaper than the rip off Comply brand of which I tried and is not as good as MoBeast's. As for the sound, all I can say is its the best I have ever experienced! I used to own Dr Dre Tour and Klipsch x10i and the Superdart is far superior in terms of built and sound quality. …

Wow. Just wow.

Well they look great - that's the first thing you'll notice. These are EIMs which look like they should sound good. They're built from some sturdy materials and come in a smart package. You'll get the feeling you're in for a treat. You are.
I'm coming from a very nice pair of dual driver Ultimate Ears which replaced some pretty decent Shures from a couple of years back so I'm accustomed to very nice sounding IEMs. That should put some context on things when I say these are head and shoulders above anything I've used before. The drive and energy behind the sound these produce is astonishing. The experience is, for want of a better word, massive. Play something bass heavy, close your eyes and you could imagine someone has somehow sneaked a massive woofer into the room. The sound has a visceral edge.
That's not to say these are all about the bass. So far I've tried these out with a range of styles and not found a single one lacking. It was when I listened to Hotel California though that my mind was made up. A great song for testing out speakers/IEMs etc. because of the richness of the sound. No word of a lie, it sounded like a new song. Harmonies were clear and crisp, the plucked guitars twanged playfully as the melody swelled and the drums thumped and crashed with energy and drive.
They're not cheap but you can't doubt the value. These are fantastic IEMs and if you're in the market for a great set and are happy to spend the money to hear your music so beautifully reproduced I am happy to recommend these unreservedly. …

Great Sound, Poor Fit.

The sonic quality is very high, and it is noticeable both on bassy tracks and those with more treble. They also look great.
Would I buy these again? No.
The reason being is a simple design flaw. These headphones have the same quality or better than "over the head" DJ headphones, but this is the issue. The darts are metal, and house some pretty incredible woofers, and so there is a huge amount of stress on the headphone covers to hold the darts in place. If you really want these, then get some custom ear moulds made as the supplied covers will not cut it - you'll either have to push the darts too far in it won't be comfortable or you'll injure yourself.
If you plan to go running with these in, then good luck as they definitely won't stay in!
They should remake these with more advanced ear fittings. …

The sound is impressive (especially if you fit the correct sized earbuds!) and it does feel well made although the earpieces themselves do feel heavy in the ear. BUT I first purchased these a little over 2 years ago and they developed the same fault twice. The sound in the right earpiece became very intermittent and there appeared to be a loose connection in the phone plug.
The Atomic Floyd customer support was excellent though and they did replace the original set but when the fault recurred just beyond the original 2 year warranty they were only able to offer a 40% discount on a new pair. £200 on a set of in ear headphones is, I think, quite an investment and I do feel that, for this sort of price, they should last longer than a year at a time. …

outstanding sound but muffling in the left channel

I have not heard better from in-the-ear headphones. There was an issue with connections going in the left channel with the first pair but I think I treated them too harshly (used for gym etc). They are quite heavy and depending the design of your ear, may have a tendency to fall out. Similar to Brian P's 02-June 2013 review, I too have experienced muffling of the sound in the left channel with my second pair which may also be a wax problem (I do wash, honest!) I wear the second pair for my daily London commute and treat them carefully. I share his view that they are almost impossible to clean. As a result I do not think I will buy a third pair. I now plan to pay even more money to see if a different make matches/exceeds the sound quality without the weight and muffling issues; my search continues! …
