    Very dissapointed

    • Written by from chester

I bought 3 ipad minis last christmas, 1 for me and 1 each for my kids, i bought this, the proper case for my ipad but my kids didnt like the apple case, what good judgement they have. i was taking some photographs on my ipad last sunday, when, for no reason the ipad fell out of the case and smashed on the floor leaving me with an empty case in my hands. I have read reviews on this case on various forums and this scenario happens on a regular basis. the case is not fit for purpose in my experience, £55, what a waste of my hard earned money. I telephoned my nearest Apple store (some 25 miles away) and they suggested i make an appointment to go and see them, they dont do repairs so what is the point of that. I then tried to email Apple to air my views but they dont make it easy to do that either.
I only gave this case 1 star because there is no facility to give it none, dont waste your money, a spurious case will protect your ipad better.
I just need to check if my ipad can be recycled or is just going to landfill!

superior to many third party cases, but room for improvement

    • Written by from Blaydon on Tyne

I finally conceded after spending the same amount of money on finding a third party alternative and bought mine yesterday because i just couldnt find a case that fit my new mini with retina display. The leather finish is beautiful and the case fits snugly and gently around the device. The smell of leather reminds me of leather bound diaries back in the paper day. To hold, the case feels the way you might expect a pair of fine leather gloves to feel to the touch and I cant say I have found a case to match it in this aspect, though I have tried seven before relenting to apple's accessory appeal. Unfortunately, the magnets in the screen cover are weak and upon first use, the panel towards the folding joint comes away from the ipad screen. The rest of the panel's magnetism is also weak so that the screen cover comes away just a tad too easily in transit, which may cause the screenlock sound to trigger when listening to audio via headphones when the ipad is in a bag or a coat pocket and could affect battery performance. As an additional minor irk, the magnets are not attracted to the back of the case, causing the screencover to flap about when not held in place by hand.
I find this case to be superior to the third party cases I tried, but there is definitely room for improvement from a smart cover functionality point of view, because many third party cases trump it in this aspect.

Nice, but needs rubber band to keep it properly closed

    • Written by from Newton Abbot

This is a very nice case - light, good fit, nice to hold (provides more friction to hold than the iPad mini alone). But there is one serious flaw, and that is the magnetic closure is not strong enough to guarantee that it stays close in a bag. And when it flips open the iPad comes on. So I now use either a rubber band around it, or put it in another case, to keep it closed when in transit.

    Design Fault

    • Written by from Cambridge

Like another reviewer just said, there is a fault with this product in that when flapped back the cover won't sit flush with the back of the device, it kind of juts out. Pulling it back then starts to distort the cover completely.

Cover won't stick to back when in use.

Actually bought this by mistake when replacing a Smart Cover that my son was sick on. When open for using the ipad the cover does not stick to the back and just flaps down which is more tha a little annoying. Will be returning and exchanging for another Smart Cover where this did not happen.
