Bottom of case too rigid - almost sharp

    • Written by from St Albans

This is a replacement for an original version which had worked well
This newer verse has a rigid plastic on the bottom where the charger would be inserted which is uncomfortable in normal use.
I've had to change the way I hold the phone it's that uncomfortable which is ridiculous
I will buy a different case next time

    £26 for this??

    • Written by from Bristol

This is an atrocious waste of money. Considering this was a remedial measure to placate those affected by the 'death grip', Apple now have the audacity to charge over £25 for it; a plastic band with a bit of rubber.

Look elsewhere, look for something not made by Apple, Spek/incase are far superior, cost less and look better.

    Impressive but not perfect

    • Written by from Dagenham

The Apple iPhone as all iPhone owners know, is not cheap, and nor is the bumper, at £26 it doesn't come in cheap, the iPhone is worth the price I paid, but not the bumper, the bumper has left a scratch in the sides of the frame, which I'm going to have to pay to remove, but apart from the very high price and the damage it may cause, it's a truly great thing, I love it, it is comfortable to hold, it's very discrete and amazingly well designed, the buttons are easy to reach

Splits at the bottom around the connector hole

This is the second bumper I have had and both split at the bottom. The soft rubber of the rim comes away from the hard case

    Bashed !!

    • Written by from Edinburgh

I got one of these bumpers as part of the free bumper app in July, I dropped my phone on the street 3 months later and the bumper was dented and scratched so much so I don't use it now as it looks terrible. Although my phione was not damaged not even a scratch. It obviously protects the phone but the bumper will easily get sratched if dropped.

    Faulty Rubber but Great Bumper!!

    • Written by from Castleblayney

The bumper has worked extremely well for me since the iphone 4 came out. However, in the past month or so the rubber around the glass is chipping and peeling away. I am going to replace it with the exact same bumper because I liked it so much. The problem now is that it is difficult to find in phone shops... they all have cheap plastic bumpers so I will have to order online from apple.

    Contrary to some opinions..

    • Written by from Wolverhampton

I bought a black bumper when I got my iPhone 4. Have tried a number of other cases and nothing comes close (unless you buy a seriously chunky case with ruins the lovely lines of this device). Am going to buy another one in a seriously wild colour as black is a bit sombre really (not to say boring!).

    Looks good but poor design

    • Written by from Leeds

The on/off button constantly presses on the phone on/off do forcing the phone to and switch off, quit apps when using or take random screen shots when pressing the home button!. Very disappointing considering the price! Ended up pulling the offending switch out of the bumper.

    Larger jacks doesn't fit

    • Written by from København N

It does what it is supposed to do - protects the iPhone - but it only fits with small headphone jacks. You have to slip the case on and off, when using larger headphone og speaker jacks. Because of this, I am replacing it with a new case.

Not as bulky as the others

    • Written by from London

This product is great as it doesn't bulk up your phone by as much as most of the other cases, plus the rim holds it off the table...as such. However it's overpriced on the apple website so I feel apple are pricing it wrong and putting people off.

    Can't Fault this product

    • Written by from london

had the cover for 2 weeks now and don't have any issues with the bumper like some others are having. Its a tight fitting, non-scratching and the volume control/sleep button work just as comfortably had the cover been removed.

The main reason i like the bumper is because it actually does solve the iphone 4 antenna issue which for me was a real problem.

    Gotta address the imbalance..

    • Written by from GLASGOW

I got my bumper months ago for free when the iphone4 came out. It is an essential extra, keeping my phone well protected from bumps and scratches. The rubber outer makes sure it doesn't slip out my hand. It has a raised edge so I can lay it down without worrying about scratches. It is of high quality and fits snugly. Now..if it only came in red..

    it is Great!

    • Written by from London

I am using The Bumper for tow months now, and i love it.
It really does it work by protecting the phone, its edges are a bit higher from the phone so it raises it from the surface its on so it doesn't get scratched or dirty.
its body is from plastic but the edge is rubber so it bumps the fall if occurs. the buttons are from metal and the feeling of it is good.
last but not least, it protects the phone but at the same time still let you feel the nice glass of the rear of the phone by not covering it. i like it because this feature is unique to the iphone 4.
if you need a cover, its a good choice!

Use it properly and it's great!

    • Written by from Taunton

This is the perfect protector for my 4s. I was shown in store how to stretch it over the edges of the phone and I have no idea how anyone manages to scratch their phone with a plastic edged bumper! Just pop the bottom of the phone into the bumper and lift the top edge over your phone. Perfect fit. I've had mine about a year and it's still like new (as is my phone). I prefer it to a case which makes the phone too hot. I do have to remove it to plug the phone into my car music system, but it takes about 5 seconds so doesn't bother me. You can leave it on whilst charging.

    Flawed

    • Written by from bristol

There is one plus to this case. It looks good. Although there is nothing to it at all (a cheap surround of plastic), you do get the sense that it was made by the people that made the phone. That's the pluses over and done with.

The bad points. It feels cheap and plasticy as that's what it is. There is simply nothing to this case that would demand any more than £5 but Apple have suggested it's something other than it is by trying to trouser an amazing £26 for it. I don't own the case any more as it broke at the bottom where you plug in the charger after around ten months. The plastic simply cracked from the repeated action of plugging and unplugging the charger. Probably the worst aspect of this case (other than falling apart and the jaw dropping price) is the fact that it damages your phone. I got a replacement iPhone 4s from Apple Uk after I broke the screen on mine. I bought the case at the same time and fitted it straight away. I've never taken the case off since I bought it but since it's fallen apart, i've noticed it's substantially scratched the metal surround of the phone. All in all a disaster..

    Flawed Logic

    • Written by from Pontypool

The bumper has had a lot of negative criticism since it's release. It is, at heart, a product to at least attempt to cure the signal issue that plagues iPhone 4s and this is it's fundamental flaw. It seems that the bumper was an after thought and had 'antennagate' never reared it's head then the bumper would never have been designed and sold.

On the plus side, its one of the best bumper style products on the market today. It doesn't add any unnecassary bulk to the device and feels very nice to the touch. It is also a lot less pronounced than some other products on the market meaning it isn't uncomfortable to hold or use.

Sadly, the metallic buttons for the volume controls and the sleep/wake button are very loose fitting and as such, rattle when the phone is shaken or put down on a hard surface. The silent rocker is also in a recess that is quite difficult to reach, necissitating the use of a fingernail to flick it.

A disappointing effort from Apple but still a good product relative to the other bumper cases on the market. I'd avoid this if you're looking for full body iPhone protection, as well as perfection. Sadly, Apple's usually high standards seem to have fallen below the mark on this one.

    Not bad.

    • Written by from Lowestoft

Was very pleased when I received this for nothing as part of the free case program. But as the months have passed the rubber from the bottom has come apart on both sides as a result of taking the case off and putting it back on. I've also had to carve out a larger hole around the headphone socket as some jacks cannot fit into it properly. The plastic has also become scratched, but this is to be expected.
Aside from this it has done a great job in protecting my phone.

    Serves its purpose

    • Written by from London

Snapped on well when I first bought it, and kept my phone free from mishaps (I tend to drop my phone a fair bit, so the case has definitely helped it bounce without too much shock). However, I wouldn't say it ages very well. I've had this for close to a year, the silicone is peeling on all sides and the case is starting to loosen. The plastic has also started to break especially wear the charger slot is. It did serve its purpose in keeping my phone damage free, but would I pay another £25 for a case that I know will "die" in less than a year? Absolutely not.

    Bumper - Black loose change

    • Written by from Stornoway

I've had mine for about a year and the rubber is now beginning to tear and get loose around parts of the frame. The sort of typical frequent use I put it through included slipping it in and out of my trouser pocket. It has saved my phone from damage after a few accidental drops, but one thing to be aware of is that it can pull out your money notes, coins or bank cards from your pocket at the same time without you noticing this. I've lost a few quid over the year I reckon!
