    Serves its purpose

    • Written by from London

Snapped on well when I first bought it, and kept my phone free from mishaps (I tend to drop my phone a fair bit, so the case has definitely helped it bounce without too much shock). However, I wouldn't say it ages very well. I've had this for close to a year, the silicone is peeling on all sides and the case is starting to loosen. The plastic has also started to break especially wear the charger slot is. It did serve its purpose in keeping my phone damage free, but would I pay another £25 for a case that I know will "die" in less than a year? Absolutely not.

    Not recommended

I've been through two of these now and both have disintegrated. The bumper is probably OK if you're going to fit it once and then leave it on - I have to remove mine occasionally to fit my car cradle and it didn't take much before firstly the case distorted to the point where just picking it up by the sides would turn the phone on or off and then both simply disintegrated.

    Poor design

    • Written by from Watford

I cannot fit a standard head phone jack through the relevant hole in the bumper.

I also cannot fit a standard 3rd party charger cable through the relevant hole in the bumper.

I therefore have to remove the bumper everytime I want to listen to music or charge at work. This has caused accelerated wear and tear and I have got through 2 bumpers in under 2 years. The design is seriously flawed.

Ridiculously expensive and this is something that I need to have in order to avoid the signal attenuation problem inherent in the iphone 4 design.

Bottom of case too rigid - almost sharp

    • Written by from St Albans

This is a replacement for an original version which had worked well
This newer verse has a rigid plastic on the bottom where the charger would be inserted which is uncomfortable in normal use.
I've had to change the way I hold the phone it's that uncomfortable which is ridiculous
I will buy a different case next time

    Best case out there but...

    • Written by from SURBITON

I start by saying I love this case, there is not better case on the market in my opinion. The issue is as many others have said it scratches the nice brush metal edge of the phone. Aswell as that only the lastest official dock connecter can fit the case and with that small headphone jacks. I look after my things very well and the case lasted me to about 14 months before the bottom bit of rubber snapped off. Over time the case will get a touch loose at the time where it strechtes to be taken on and off. Over all I think its it good at what is does ir protects both sides of the phone and I still think the best "case" out their.

Looks good but destroys the phone

    • Written by from West clandon

It protects the iPhone screen and back well from any damage but in the meantime it creates huge scratches on the metal around the phone.

    Flawed Logic

    • Written by from Pontypool

The bumper has had a lot of negative criticism since it's release. It is, at heart, a product to at least attempt to cure the signal issue that plagues iPhone 4s and this is it's fundamental flaw. It seems that the bumper was an after thought and had 'antennagate' never reared it's head then the bumper would never have been designed and sold.

On the plus side, its one of the best bumper style products on the market today. It doesn't add any unnecassary bulk to the device and feels very nice to the touch. It is also a lot less pronounced than some other products on the market meaning it isn't uncomfortable to hold or use.

Sadly, the metallic buttons for the volume controls and the sleep/wake button are very loose fitting and as such, rattle when the phone is shaken or put down on a hard surface. The silent rocker is also in a recess that is quite difficult to reach, necissitating the use of a fingernail to flick it.

A disappointing effort from Apple but still a good product relative to the other bumper cases on the market. I'd avoid this if you're looking for full body iPhone protection, as well as perfection. Sadly, Apple's usually high standards seem to have fallen below the mark on this one.

    Marks the metal band

    • Written by from Newark

Got the bumper through the iPhone case program as because I use the phone in my left hand, the reception was affected by the 'antennagate' problem. Sadly, like others, I found that after a few months of use, the metal band was pitted and scuffed, like many others have found.

It starts off snugly fitting, but then works losse over time, which is possibly how dust is getting between the metal band and the case, causing the marks - which oddly enough, don't look like scratches.

On the plus side, it looks good. Probably £16 overpriced.

    Only lasted 8 months

    • Written by from Thames Ditton

I got this free from Apple when they were on their Antenna-gate damage limitation exercise. I treat my iPhone with great care so am disappointed to see that the rubber bezel between the Home button and the charging port has started to split after only 8 months of use. I like the look of Apple's bumper cases but am surprised and disappointed by their poor quality and high price. Mine's about to die but I most definitely won't be shelling out 26 quid to replace it.

    Not really for me...

    • Written by from Sevenoaks

    Pros:
    - Keeps the back of the phone off of any surfaces limiting scratches to the glass on the back
    - Does help with the antenna problem
    - ooks quite sleek

    Cons:
    - Actually scratches the metal band around the phone when putting on and taking the bumper off (big con for me as the bumper is causing damage when it is supposed to be protecting the phone from it).
    - Bumper was a loose fit at best (seems to be a recurring problem amongst users)
    - Phone looks better without the bumper imho

    Good........ish

    • Written by from Lusk

I got this free as it solved the antenna problem. it has a nice feel to it on the phone. after having it for 7 months i have noticed problems.
the rubber around the headphone jack opening is starting to detach from the hard plastic rim, this causes dirt to become trapped between cover and the metal of the phone resulting in scratches.

Nice but too expensive for what it is

Fits well, feels nice. Does what it says on the box. But £26?? Honestly?? For a bit of rubber with a couple of buttons on??

    Very poor quality.

Not tight enough, scratches iPhone significantly. Choice is your, either Bumper and antenas are scratched or no Bumper and possibility to have back/front scratched.

    I would not recommend it.

    This will scratch your iPhone!

    • Written by

Got this case as part of the free case program and it has been fitted for 6 months. Whilst it has undoubtedly protected the phone the rubber part is now separating from the hard plastic portion and the entire metal surface of my iPhone is now scratched and looks very unsightly. The case is very easy to fit and remove but lets in dust and grit too thus causing the scratching.

    **Beware** Scratches!!

    • Written by from London

Brilliant case, protects your phone very well until you remove the case after a months use or so..

Scratches the steel trim literally everywhere and you will not be able to figure out how! Very poorly designed by apple?

    Scrathes your iPhone

    • Written by from Vanløse

    Wauv - what a disappointment.
At first I really liked the bumper: It gave the iPhone a better signal and a better grip, but my joy turned into frustration as I discoverede that the aluminum-frame on the phone got really scratched. It must be because little dust-particles rubs against the frame between the frame and the bumper.
And - as time passes - the rubber starts to fall of the bumper-frame. At least on my version.
Apple - this is a major bummer!

    Docking Issue

    • Written by from Bristol

I recieved my bumber case through the free programme. Although it does fit perfectly and seems to improve reception, everytime I want to put my iPhone into a dock to charge/listen to music I have to take the case off as the design doesn't take docking into consideration. My case hasn't damaged yet but it doesn't feel robust enough to endure too much taking off/on so I have taken it off all together.

I shouldnt complain as I received the case for free and if you dont dock your iPhone you wont have this problem but it doesnt fit with my usage requirements.

    Give it a miss

    • Written by from southport

I got this cover a part of the free bumper programme when I got the phone due to the signal loss.
It's a nice looking, well made cover that stops the front and back of the phone being scuffed when put down onto a flat surface because of the rubber edges.
I've had it on for a couple of months now and it's starting to scuff the metal band (phone aerials) on the phone.
It would stop the phone from smashing if dropped from a small height but for something that is supposed to be protecting your phone from scratches to actually cause scratches isn't really good and especially when they are charging £25 for it.
I can't moan too much because mine was free but I'm not too happy about the scuffs that come from using it.
Spend your money on another cover speck covers seem to be in the same sort of price range but better quality.

It looks nice on the phone, but then you need to have specific sized and shaped leads for it! I can't use the lead in my car to plug into head phones as the headphone hole is too small and then you have to only use an apple USB lead, which is a pain because my car charger is slightly too big to fit on so have to constantly remove bumper! A right pain!
